[Unobtainable, Listing Error] Windows 10/11 Pro Retail Version Digital Key US$49.99 (~A$74) @ Woot (an Amazon Company)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Keep in mind this is a retail copy that usually retails for $339 at jb hi fi from an authorised dealer, not a grey market oem key

Woot has updated its description to say its an OEM key, but still should be legit, just a lesser discount :/

Mod note: This post is moved to forum for being unobtainable and a listing error. Users can discuss the merits of OEM keys, obtaining refunds, and return of the OEM keys here.

  • Can someone explain to me what the difference between this license and just downloading windows 11 from https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11 is?

    • +2

That’s just a download. You still need a licence.

It says … To get started you first need a license to install Windows 11 or have a Windows 10 device that qualifies for an upgrade to Windows 11.

  • Not a bad price for OEM. I wounder if Microsoft still offers a discount of Windows OEM license key for University students. I remembered back in my uni days, when I could get a Windows 7 Pro upgrade key for $50. I still use these license to this day for Windows 10.

    • Yeah, they do, via https://onthehub.com/school , but not every uni participates.

Edit: Looks like they might have finally phased out Microsoft from there - but I know you could still get Windows 10 or 11 from there as of early 2022.

  • I remember buying legit keys for Windows 8 Pro direct from Microsoft Online @ $15 each. They wanted to encourage users to upgrade.

    • I remember those days too. Those were the upgrade keys.

dont give microsoft more money, or even better use linux ;))

    • Had to scroll too far for this. Used this tool 10+ times in the last year alone

      • not tell it also works on office which I don't usually encourage

If only you could just buy Microsoft products. Hint: It is practically impossible on purpose.

          • @Salvsum: I should have added, for a credible price.

            • @prodrome: What you really meant to say is you don't want to pay microsoft prices but still want a legit product.

Can't really have it both ways. Either pay microsoft prices or buy microsoft software and os for cheap but for sure you are at the least breaking terms of service or eula.

              • @xoom: Happy to pay reasonable Microsoft prices i.e. generally their OEM prices but not their absurd retail prices.

                • @prodrome: Oem prices last i checked is available only with accompanying hardware. Otherwise its against eula to obtain on its own.

                • @prodrome: OEM pricing is readily available 🤷🏼‍♂️

                  Example : https://www.mwave.com.au/product/microsoft-windows-11-home-6…

So I'm not sure what you mean by "If only you could just buy Microsoft products. Hint: It is practically impossible on purpose." 🤷🏼‍♂️

                  • @Nom: This helpful licensing guide might help - https://m365maps.com

                    • @prodrome: You don't need anything like that as a home user. Just buy the OEM version from your favourite computer store, and use it.
That's it, there's nothing more to it 👍

    • It's for Windows only…anything similar to activate the mac version?

  • Retail Marketings aside, for Win 11users, how's it like to use and performance specially in gaming? Worth upgrading from or just keep Win 10? Thanks.

    • windows 10 goes end of support in 2025 ….so if defender in win10 stops getting updates, you might want to move to windows 11 ….i’ve moved all my PCs to 11 …..haven’t seen performance issues, gets regular feature updates …i don’t game much though ….

    • I dunno man, feels exactly the same from win10 in terms of performance.

      • Thanks for the replies fellas.

Windows been nagging me to update to Win 11 everytime I start up my 'puter. Might actually go and finally do it after more than a year of nagging from them. Just hope that the installation don't ask me to input manually a key, since I don't know when mine is now after all this time.

        • There are key extractor apps that can tell you the windows (or office) keys that have been used for installation on your PC.

Shouldn't need to enter it for upgrading though.

        • My second hand laptop prompted me to upgrade to windows 11. Upgraded it. Did not prompt for any key at all. Just a reboot or two and Robert is your dads brother.

These keys are clearly in breach of Microsoft's terms, however the deal won't be taken down as OzBargain doesn't care about deals that infringe copyright.

    • How so?

      • +1

"Keep in mind this is a retail copy" is misleading.

Where did you get 'retail' from? It's not mentioned anywhere on the site linked, making these keys nothing more than all other far cheaper keys people can buy.

        • Genuine Microsoft OEM license keys

      • As described above, these keys are only allowed to be sold with a new system, and to be sold stand alone are in breach of the terms and conditions. As I said, OzBargain doesn't care about legalities (staff have told me so previously).

  • +6

The Woot description says it's an OEM key not retail. So it looks like a single use licence and technically OEM keys are meant to be sold with a new system.

I literally posted a legit link and 30% discount code bringing it down to $50 but you are all so salty to appreciate

    @OP
I looked at the product description on Amazon and saw this:
"• Genuine Microsoft OEM license keys
    • One key per device"

$74 for an OEM license key is expensive.

OP, can you please update your description.

    • -2

$74 for a genuine OEM key is cheap.

  • Brytesoft FTW, full price AUD $36 at time of writing. They might be grey market but the keys work.

i was always looking for the right keys and legit keys for windows, until i saw HEAPS OF VIDEOS on youtube of people trying dodgy keys they buy for 1$ up to 20$.

The result was, all keys WORKED, so they updated windows, and it worked, so they called Microsoft customer service, and they told them we bought these keys and we want to check if they are legit or not, or if they will ever be disabled or black listed, and Microsoft confirmed, no matter what the key origin is, or what type it is, as long as your windows is activated, then it is connected to their system and is getting full support from microsoft.

so in summary, all keys are doing THE EXACT SAME THING. just get the cheapest or Free, and enjoy windows.

    and many more tests.

The level 1 phone support monkey told you a bunch of nonesense.

Full support up until the key is blacklisted after being found abused. Microsoft does care if some dodgy person is selling keys from his/her volume licensing account to other people through ebay.

Microsoft isn't going to say "oh sure buy $1 Windows keys through ebay no problems it will be fine forever keep doing it".

      • Thankfully, never needed to buy any keys. and was looking for one for a friend. in the end, did not buy 1 for him and found 1 free on telegram, at least 500 keys posted a day for free, that was over 4 years ago. this post given me memories because i was interested of what will happen. so i had to check youtube what others say. and by the way, my friend still using same key and upgraded to windows 11 using same key no issues, full support, full updates, and was also able to join their beta testing once windows 11 was pre-released.

lets say it is black listed every 10 years, no worries, i can get a 0$-20$ key every 10 years, that is way cheaper than spending heaps of money. simple math, and Microsoft them selves approved it and activated the key.

just saying, doesnt mean i'll do it because i already have my windows came from Lenovo pre-installed and pre-activated :)

oh by the way, i did not call microsoft support, read the post, it is the guys on youtube did.

        • Cool story, bro.

Piracy is cheap. Nothing to learn here.

  • When I tried to upgrade to Win 11, I get this error stating that CFOSPEED is outdated and would need the new version. Windows dialogue box gives me a link but it leads to a commercial (scam) site?

Where can I get the legit updated version please. Any takers are much needed and appreciated.
