  • Plus $60 cashback from CR if it is eligible.

    Edit: no, not eligible:

"Cashback is ineligible when used in conjunction with a gift card, voucher or discount code unless listed on this site, or with any other discounts such as staff, student, employee advantage, flybuys or regional discount."

    • But you get Flybuys points, wouldn't it be ineligible if you use Flybuys points to discount your service, rather than earning them?

    • Better offer with Shopback $63 CB ? Scratch that. No idea how to make it work

      • Log on laptop via chrome with extension, activate it that way. Not sure if it’ll work but worth a punt

  • Do we need a month notification before we can move on to another provider ?

    • Hey I'm not too sure, I've never been with Optus, but maybe check the PDS?

  • +1

Worth mentioning what would be the price after 6 months.

    • +1

Hey thanks I've added that in!

  • Hello! I'm currently with optus paying $69 p/m and getting 110mbps 2ms speeds from an nbn fttp plan 5 yrs ago. Do I need to update my plan with this plan?

    • Hey this deal is only for new services, and it sounds like you're getting a pretty good grandfathered deal? The regular price of 100/20 is $99/month which is more expensive than other providers.

  • I tried to find out when is the promotion end but couldnt get it from Customer service. I might give it a go to Optus end of month for this price.

    • +2

Offer Valid from 06 February 2023 and ends on 26 March 2023.

  • Is it possible to choose a future date for the NBN connection? I still have to pay exetel until 19th March

    • +1

I tried, it doesn't seem that we can future date it. Not sure if we can chat with them though

  • Does Optus use cgnat?

    • -3

Not sure but I heard they're good with breaches

    • according to this, they do

  • Fellow bargainers,
How are you feeling about getting paid service from Optus after that security breach?

  • +1

flybuys BONUS POINTS will not be awarded if you cancel your service within the first 90 days post activation

This means that we have to use it 4 months.

    • That's the way I understand it too. Still worthwhile if you look at the 4 month cost (or even 6 months while discounted) offset against the flybuys points.

      • True, around $48/month for 6 months. I guess I should jump from More Telecom though still have 3 months with them for $53.90/mth

  • Got the same email, but on Optus site, it only shows 18K pts for BYO modem.

    • +1

18k for the 25/5 plan, 25k for the 50/20. Same price for both plans because the 50/20 has the promo discount

      • Cheers, didn't notice the plan selector. All good now.

  • Is anyone using Optus nbn with Telstra smart router v2? Is the set up fairly easy ?

  • There would be credit check for new customers?

  • Can anyone help me out with an Optus student code please? cheers in advance.

    • Any different with non student ?

  • Anyone knows if we sign up today, when we will be connected ?

  • Has anybody managed to find out if you can organise to connect at a later date and still get the bonus points and pricing etc? I can't find a chat function to use :)

    • I tried with chat on the other day and they said they cannot as I am taking out Flybuys over. I since then apply online, which was fine process. Then the process then on is getting nuisance and lots of hassle. Because I only have one day to transfer from my previous provider, I have to chase them up after more than 4 hours lodging application as no progress. I called them to ask for progress, then they verify my credit application, approve and they said the connection will be 8 days from that day as they are sending the modem. I said I didn't order modem and don't need modem as I have one. Then they reschedule it to be within the next day or 2 days from that day. Then I received the text saying it is scheduled on 2 days later, which I find doesn't make sense as it should be within a few minutes switch. So I have to chat and call them, waiting for more than 20 mins each which they finally not able to do anything with that with so much excuses from my account doesn't exist as I am login using Optus app (surprisingly they still have my decades old login with old numbers which luckily I still have it for my daughter's phone), my text verification number is invalid, have to wait for another 20 mins.

I was about to give up, but because I am desperately to transfer on that day, I called again, waiting for more than 20 mins again, and got the right person who switched it over within minutes. Then I checked my Optus App, it is still not having my new details, I chat with them and they fixed it.

A day after when I received the bill, I notice that my first name is "Th", What??? To change that, I have to go to Optus store to do 100 points ID verification, even though I have gone through all the IDs via online application.

What a pain ! Having say that, if not because of Flybuys promotion + $10 off Optus Summer promotion + free 6 months Prime subscription, I will not join Optus anymore. Really painful process for me. Never again.

      • Considering Optus' recent history of leaking customer identity information, it's probably a blessing in disguise they don't have your name stored correctly.

      • I am having the exact same experience. Applied on the 15th, got a call on the 16th wanting to confirm my order and personal details and given activation date of 18th. Thought it would be OK as my new month with my current provider starts on the 19th.

On the sat 18th got a txt message on the way to work saying welcome to optus nbn. Great I thought. Got home that night and nbn is still with superloop. Too late to call so lodged a request on the link in the txt message and got an automated reply that someone would get back to me within 1 business day. Given it's a sat night and I need the churn done that night this is useless.

Still haven't been churned today and have been billed for this month with superloop so optus' inefficiency has cost me $55.

  • Thanks, I think i'll give it a miss on the basis of this :)

    • I just got a text msg that it looks like the modem will be delivered today. LOL, what a messed up. Free Modem for me.

      • What modem is provided?

        • I presume it is Optus one as I don't know how to open the box without tearing it apart. I would like to ensure that I will not be charged for the modem when I jump from them to another in 6 months time. Or I can resell it again as new.

  • Just my feedback about Optus. Moved to them on Monday and since Monday internet has been unusable. Slow to open google docs, team calls etc. I contacted them via app and they wanted to send out a technician on Monday. Today I took the decision to go back to Exetel (I had Exetel, then Australia post nbn and then Optus), as they were good before and currently $62.99 a month for 100/20. I was activated within half hour (I called them after 20 minutes and they requested to call back at 7pm, but there was no need). So far looking good.

Optus was too good to be true: $79 for 6 months and $150 worth of points. Plus ShopBack via browser. But it was so bad and since sometimes we work from home I had to cancel. They didn’t charge me anything which is good. I wouldn’t recommend Optus. Australia Post nbn and Exetel on the other hand are amazing.
