    Used? In Title please.

I used to buy these laptops for my previous company, out of the 200 we purchased we would see a failure rate of around 25%… i'd steer clear from the 7490..

    • +2

      which part failed?

    • my current employer had 70, so far 6 have failed

      • +1

Hard Drives were at the top of the list

Hinges were prone to cracks on the plastic area surround

Overheating (workloads were outlook and edge)

Over what time frame are you seeing 25% failure?

Latitude 7490 is one of the best machines Dell ever rolled out across public and business sector, along with some of the Precision mobile workstations around same time. every component used was designed to last, and the whole thing was designed around user comfort and easy service

my only complaint was that not all of the screen options were top notch, but that was there to accomodate orders where companies deliberately wanted low res or TN panels in their laptop fleet (go figure)

still one of my favourite machines, although that design sure starts to show its age.

  • Hi OP, does the hp eliteOne comes with keyboard and mouse? Wireless? Its says picture only for reference and cant see anything mentioned in the description. Thanks

    • Hi Sabre,

Keyboard and Mouse not include, the following description below the listing mentioned about this.

      Thanks

  • Any decent 15" laptops around the $350 price

    • Hi B-Man02,

We don't have for now, will update in near future.

      Thank you

Is there something different about the 15" models?
Surely it can't be the screen size? - just sit 7% closer and a 14 looks like a 15. But heavier.

      • Screen size and better keyboard layout with numpad

        • Ah, keyboard makes sense. thanks.

Those Lenovo Ls are nice - light - machines, however a level below the 7 series Latitudes.

Heads up. The Dell 7400 series in general is a failure. Plenty of heat issues (Really bad thermal design) We've had nothing but trouble with them in the department .

    • I've had many over the years (all i7), they were all fine until the 7490 which I'm still using and sounds like a mini hairdryer 24/7.

    • Lots of driver compatibility issues too, they've had a new bios released frequently.

    • I sort of agree; they were good when they were running fine but the moment heat gets involved, it gets painful. Last time I had one was when I asked for a 7400 2 in 1 which somewhat had a better thermal system than the 7490 (it had vents on the edge of the chasis near the hinges instead of the bottom vents on the 7490.

An ex-colleague's 7490 got cooked (the drive failed) within 3 months (to be fair, she was hammering the laptop with eDiscovery software plus two other forensic tools that had to be left running) and our desk replaced it with a 7480 (they were slightly less prone to failing) but I also told her to get one of the laptop risers from Amazon to prop up the laptop and allow air to circulate in the vents.
