I think people would jump on it as it was around $299.

    • Yeah I think the sweet spot would be somewhere between your price and their price.

It would be still a great pickup with 16GB and 512GB SSD.

      • Ethernet port
      • 14” 1080p screen
      • Decent processor
      • Thinkpad keyboard
      • Battery might be lacking
      • Price doesn’t factor in battery situation.

And being proper Thinkpads, jumping on them won't break them :)

I just bought the 1tb 16GB version but personally would prefer them more if they were under $600.

I recommend getting a vinyl skin from aliexpress or ebay. My t480s looks better than new now!

Which vinyl skin did you get?

The laptop I received from UN Tech had a few scratches, so I ordered this one:
        https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004199905537.htm
There are other sellers, just search by laptop model.
I got 'black brushed metal', it looks great but feels a bit rough to the touch.
I also have 'leather' skin on my other laptop and love it!

  • Also if your T480S comes with a WWAN card (cellular), and you don't need it, you can replace it with this SSD:

    • So any 2242 sized M.2 SATA SSD would work?

      • 2242 but not SATA, NVMe.
I installed this KingSpec ssd yesterday and it's not bad for a second drive.

  • Is a 6-month warranty the standard for all refurb products?

  • Is this a good deal? Need a basic laptop for writing and not much else. I can wait though if this isn't a solid enough bargain.

I bought a T440S a few weeks ago. i5 4300U, 8GB, 256GB SATA SSD. Runs Windows 10 or Linux perfectly. Refurbs can be tricky. Battery and general wear may not turn out to be what you expect. I lucked out.

I'd suggest waiting for an "A" condition T470s. There's B condition laptops on ebay now for $179 but if they come with a bad battery or significant wear/damage, then it isn't work the cost saving imo.

  • Is this laptop good for gaming?

    • No.

Interested but feel like this is a bit overpriced for the specs and age. I liked the previous HP deals you had
