  • He he,
Bought it using the 'hack' several years ago.
Check to see if you can still use the hack by stacking codes is 2 different tabs.

    • My bose logo is white from that hack

    • That was a great deal. Should have bought more. For gifts at the very least.

With that said, I do find myself using my UE Booms more often for portable use - they're far more durable (can't tell you how many times I've dropped them) and if you have more than one, you can pair them all up in party mode or set them up as stereo speakers, which is useful if you want to cover a larger space.

The Bose meanwhile stays safely put in the kitchen, paired to the Google Nest Hub.

    • Got 1, surprised it shipped. regretted not getting more 😅

  • Bought it at the $100 price point and was disappointed with it. This one sounded very muddy compared to the JBL flip 6

    • +4

Really? I think these things are the best sounding Bluetooth speakers around

  • +2

I have this from a previous deal and I think the jbl flip6 sounds better. more clear, bass-ey, louder overall and cheaper

  • +3

    I'm surprised they haven't announced a successor.

  • +3

I have a smashed up one of these probably 6 years old?,
bought a UE boom 3 thinking it's a lot newer, waterproof etc… sounds terrible compares to this bose.
The Bose has much better clarity and base it makes the UE boom sound like it's under water

I had the JBL Flip 5, and have a Soundlink Resolve. I bought this after my Flip 5 died. To me, thease are very odd sounding. The Timbre is horrible and very unnatural. They are almost over mid focussed and treble is completely off. It is so "off" that it is hard to define what is wrong with it, so I can't just say it needs "X". Because of that, I have a hard time applying EQ because it is hard to figure out what is wrong with it. It also is not easy to get an FR curve for this that I trust.

I would consider myself as pretty serious with sound, having spent lots of money on headphones such as HD6XX, Focal Elegia, Hifiman Edition XS, the following IEMs Moondrop Blessing 2 Dusk, 7Hz Timeless, to go with my desktop setup of JBL LSR305 with my Topping E50/L50 stack.

I say all of this to say that I feel I have decent idea of what good sounds like, and these aren't it. I also have the Soundlink Resolve at the dinner table which is far far better.

With that being said, if you like em, good for you. I'm just trying to provide a different (my own) perspective.

Have you had a listen to the SoundLink Flex? Curious to know what you think of it compared to any of the other Bose speakers.

      • I haven't. I can only comment on the Resove which I think it pretty darn good for what it is. It is possible that I have a defective mini 2, but without having another one at hand to test, I can only assume that it is the stock sound.

      • +1

I've got flex at home and mini at work. flex is more balanced and very similar to revolve when I tested at JB hifi. Agree with Kinjiru, on treble bit.

    • I am assuming you meant - Revolve

      • yep - my bad. Revolve!

EQ ruins everything. Playing with the settings is the pinnacle of auditory arrogance — you dare think you know the music better than the producer?! For mine, this speaker is missing the crisp mids, sparkling highs, and deep, inky blacks. But it takes a truly-trained, superhuman ear to know that. For the plebs, this speaker does the job admirably
