Can you recommend any small ones? I want a small touchscreen for a test system at work - the PC sits off to the side but it would be easier to operate everything if we had a small touchscreen amongst all the instruments.

    • How small are we talking? I find that once you hit 14" everything below is price similar.

    • There are 8.8 inch longboys that are cheap with touch screen but are half height in res? They look like a long strip

Are there any real pictures or reviews on the quality of the display?

  • @Clear: how do you decide what is good enough to be a bargain for you to them make an effort to post?

I'm still kicking myself for not getting the uperfect touch for sub $200.

Also recommend that you just copy and paste your use case scenario. Someone always seems to ask ;)

I have a rough formula based around the size of the display, the resolution/brightness/colour, extra features like touch/freesync and of course price/discounts.

Typically anything 14" will be <US$100, 15.6" up to US$150 and anything higher (particularly 2.5K/4K resolutions) above US$150-$200ish.

It would take a long time to talk about all the factors I consider in detail.

Also recommend that you just copy and paste your use case scenario. Someone always seems to ask ;)

I hope someone else comes up with a creative use I haven't thought of.

  • How heavy is this? I can't find it on the specs

    • Images say 700g

  • Is this particular model confirmed good?

Do these run off a single USB-C?
I have a MacBook Pro M1 that only has two ports and I’ll need power connected to one.

Can you daisy chain two together into the one output?

    • +4

Yep it can run off a single. You could plug the power into this and have the other USB-C going into the MacBook. It'll do passthrough charging.

  • Im loving the choice of portable screens lately!

Looks like the same store has a 144Hz version for not a lot more: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004508875049.html

I wonder how the visuals compare - specifically text? My use case will mostly be as a portable coding monitor (because WFH really means work-from-the-beach these days).

    • +1

The higher refresh rate will make everything smoother but not so much making text more sharp. It's more the pixel density, brightness, colour gamut. The one you've linked has a better colour gamut and contrast ratio than this. It's not a massive difference.

      • I'm more concerned that they might have cut corners on panel quality to get the 144Hz (e.g. some touch panels are worse than the equivalent non-touch). Hence I'd choose the 60Hz if it had better visual quality vs the 144Hz.

  • @Clear, what do you think of this one the 15.6" 2k touch : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005274426278.html?gatewa…

    • +2

About US$170.19 by the looks. i think it could be cheaper

      • Thanks, looking forward to more portable monitor deals from your goodself! Looking for a good deal on a touchscreen 2k 15" :)

  • Is there any way to mount this to the side of monitor directly without the use of another monitor arm?
