TBH I'd rather support Scorptec than Amazon, so thank you for linking the Scorptec deal. Not that I'll be taking it up: 500GB is just too small for an internal drive these days (in my opinion). Could get one and throw it in an enclosure but 🤔

TBH, my pocket votes and in my case, since there are no local Scorptec where I am and Amazon is doing free shipping, I rather go with Amazon.

      • Everyone needs to make their own decision based on what is best for them - that's Amazon in your case, and that's perfectly fine :)

      • TBH I would go with Amazon too over Scorptec because there are no stores near me but I think our decision is kinda why there are no Scorptecs near us..

I get what you mean, I've recently resolved to do the same thing: if the difference between Amazon and a local supplier is free postage, and postage is < $10 locally, I'll go local.

Not too small for many people. However it is a question of value compared to the 1TB. I think we will see further reduction in the 1TB model and probably in the 500GB model.

      • The issue is total available storage. If you're not looking to store much, yeah the 500GB will be perfectly fine. For me I want a decent amount of space but also don't have a lot of ports available - if I had an old desktop with 4+ SATA ports, going 500GB probably wouldn't be an issue. I've actually got a collection of old HDDs that I'm just not using because it's not worth it - one factor in that decision being space on disk (one of them being as low as 80 GB !)

177 for 2tb - is that the best price we will see. Or keep waiting

    • If you're expecting something like $99 for 2TB then no, but $149 for 2TB sounds pretty realistic in a couple months.

  • 4tb has dropped to USD240(AUD356) in best buy.

  • staticice shows $53 from the usual places (Umart, IJK, MSY etc) for the 500GB and $99 for the 1TB as well

    • $52 @ Centrecom

  • if you're in WA, PLE has it for $53 as well
