Telstra Samsung Galaxy A22 5G $199 (Was $329) @ Woolworths

220

Mums partner was looking for a cheap entry level phone, saw this popup in a google search and while I'm not phone expert, it seems quite a good price for what it is.
Not sure about stock availability, my local area is showing stock at multiple locations.

I'd suggest you get in quick as I called my local store before going down and even the staff thought it was a price error and were reluctant to sell me it even though it's clearly stated on their website as on special.

*some people seem to be having issues with the carrier lock, so not sure if it's going to work for you or not.

      • @ipiok parents using aldi, so I assume any carrier that uses telstra equipment

        Wow that must be new
Normally locked to Telstra or [Boost]

        • +1

I can't use Aldi or Boost on my Telstra locked phone.

          • @alanwong0001: Is there any way to check for sure if Boost Sim will work before buying…mixed opinions here.

            • @cmt: I have a Telstra 3G bar phone, from 2017 or earlier, it doesn’t take boost SIM.

      • Thank you. Do you know for how long this phone will have updates for?

        • +1

Generally 2 OS updates from initial release OS but security updates for about 4 years.

Just note that if tap and pay is useful to you this phone is listed as NO NFC.

  • Hi, Can someone please post a link again here for me please? When i look it says unavailable but you guys seem to be able to see it ok.

    No NFC in 2023?
    Maybe not

  • Is this a good choice for 5g mobile tethering?

    • Yes assuming you want to use Telstra

  • Anyone recommend a phone at approx $100?

Coming from Sony E4G, Nokia 3, Oppo A72 (all sub $100).

    • Maybe this

      • Cheers. Local store has a C01 in stock. But no NFC, and its old school.

Any ideas on the bands on the Optus phone (will be running Voda and Telstra). I will be able to get a free unlock (as Optus cant service our house).

    • Coles has a Telstra locked Nokia g20 for $99 which might be an OK option if you have a hard $100 limit. Slower processor but.

Had considered the Motorola Moto e32 at $149 at Woolies but that is 50% above your limit. Seems to be a reasonably faster processor than the Nokia G20 but (uses the same as the more expensive still Nokia G21). Is on Optus that one.

      • Cheers.
Bands, NFC are most important. No fussed with the processor.

  • In stock at Eli Waters. Just picked one up

  • Was in stock at Australia Fair earlier this morning. Just picked one up and now out of stock at Australia Fair.

Don't mind the lack of NFC on the A22 as I mainly use my S20 FE and Galaxy Watch Active2 & Watch4 for contactless payments.

  • How easy is it to unlock these phones?
