  • +1

ordered one thanks for my Mac mini

  • +6

Nice one! They have the one without the number pad too at the same price. Just ordered for free same-day delivery to the parcel locker near my place!

    • Nice, that looks like an all time low

      same thing $5 cheaper?

      https://amzn.asia/d/cTt81yb

      • +1

        No Touch ID.

        • ah ok

    • this full size or tkl version ?? hard to decide, anyone has using both before?

  • This keyboard or mx keys?

    • +8

      Touch ID

    • +3

If you need multi-device the MX Keys is great.

For me Touch ID was the preference (assuming you have an Apple Silicon Mac).

    • +2

I have both. Get the MX keys.

Mind you, I have both Mac and windows devices.

    • +1

Depends on whether you have an Apple Watch

      • +2

Cos the watch unlocks the Mac right?

        • +1

          Right

    • I love my MX Keys, though I wish I went for the dedicated Mac layout, rather than the Mac/Win combo version - I barely use Windows, and they layout still throws my muscle memory even after a few months of use. It's very useful if you switch between devices frequently.

  • +1

Logi is my magic (much better value;)

  • +1

    Thanks OP.
    Ordered 1.

  • No mechanical keys…

    • +7

      Sounds good.

      • I see hear what you did there.

    • +1

Apple chiclet > mechanical. Ignoring the scissor mechanism boards from a few years ago of course.

  • +1

FYI Microsoft have similar one for windows hello, works great. Just one complaint, need to be press down to read.

    • Using windows keyboard on Mac has a serious issue.

One hand the windows logo key you cannot map

The other hand hard to map to cover all 3 of command, option and control key

      • I guess the aforementioned similarity is in colour, because otherwise it's two different worlds.

        • +1

Not really. If Apple allow to map windows logo key everything should be good

          • @kawara888: What's the point getting an MS keyboard instead of an Apple keyboard with Touch ID? Honest question, I feel I'm missing some crucial point here.

  • Will this work with Apple TV?

  • -8

    Apple tax.

  • Does this work on Windows PC?

    • +8

Sure. Just remap the Touch ID key to go to the OzBargain homepage

  • Will this be compatible with Macbook Pro M2 Pro 2023 models?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • +3

My guess is Apple are about to release Magic Keyboards & Trackpads with USB-C

    • +2

      At full RRP.

      • +3

        Incorrect. At a fuller RRP.

        • For the fooler? ;)

    • +1

      nah magsafe

    • +4

Who cares? It comes with a USB-C to Lightning and it needs charging so infrequently. Would rather save the $100.

  • +1

    Bought. Thanks OP.

  • Temporarily out of stock now.

Would have preferred the black, but only 5% discount.

  • +1

I know it's not magic but I have had great success with PC and Apple with this keyboard/mouse which is currently on special. But it does go on special all the time.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07VPMTWMC

EDIT: Apparently there is a newer model but I can not speak to it.

    • +2

That looks similar to the cheap crap Apple keyboard clones they sell at officeworks.

      • It does.

And I've bought a few crap ones from ebay and amazon.

This is the first one I have found that isn't crap.

  • Back to $229 now :/

    • +3

Amazon stock sold out, listing then goes to the next cheapest which is a third party seller "ACSTechnology"

  • the major drawback is no backlight, maybe not ideal if you use it at night

    • Only really an issue if you don’t know how to type.

    • +2

My theory is no backlight to give it an extra long battery life.

  • Can someone please explain why get this keyboard over a normal one

    • +3

If you don’t have an Apple Watch (or don’t always wear it), and want to unlock your Mac without typing your password

    • +2

TouchID will allow you to enetr passwords easily

  • +2

Thank you OP. Been waiting for this to drop! Purchased and will happily replace my still good same keyboard without TouchID.

  • When will Apple release a keyboard with TouchPad

  • Doh, missed it, would have been a good buy.

  • Thanks OP. Paid and cancelled, saved $139. :D

    • Any reason why you cancelled apart from "saving" $139?

      • Paid because "cheap", cancelled because I really can't find where I can use it…

  • -3

OOS but I think the mx keys is far superior with all the same feature

  • +2

FRACK, this is why I shouldn't go hours between checking OZB.

    • lol set alerts

  • +5

Received. But the keyboard has a previous owner?

    https://imgur.com/a/rFPgE2a

and the serial number cannot be found in apple website

    • Ask Christina!!!!

    • Was the box shrink-wrapped?

      • +1

Yes. and inside packaging does not look like a return item

        • Is there any chance your Mac you synced it to is named Christina's MacBook or iMac?

          • @AustriaBargain: No. and the caps key does not always work

I will wait for restock and ask for a replacement

            • @kawara888: So the seller re-shinkwrapped it themselves? Apple refurbished items usually come in plain white boxes but I've never seen keyboards on the website under refurbished Mac accessories. And you'd think Apple would wipe them when refurbishing them.

    • That’s a worry. I was under the impression it’s new stock and would be reliable since the retailer is amazon. Hope mine is new and not refurbished

    • the same thing happened with the bose headphones i ordered from Amazon but it was on a different name

  • +1

I bought this for $230 recently. Apple made some nice free margin on that purchase.

  • Does the scanner work in windows 11
    Q?

    • Don't think so, but it's still a fine keyboard for Windows. I use the ye olde wired version of this and I love it. I'll cry when it stops working. It works fine out of the box but install the Bootcamp drivers to get full media key controls.

      • I had both wirless versions the original I still use and love. Minch better contact traction. I have the old new one away to a max user it wasn’t as sticky and the scanner not working meant I over paid for nothing. Hoping it’s been improved and usable on windows. With the watch could also unlock ur pc too.
