UPDATE: Price has since dropped from $258 to $247. Cancelled the previous order and reordered (spoke with live chat and they said it wasn't shipped yet so not even billed for the original order)

Second ever post… be gentle… I think its a deal.

Been watching this RAM for a while. Regularly recommended by Hardware Unboxed etc. DDR5 6000 @ CL30.

It's constantly been above $300 for a long time - possibly an all time low?

Good ram for those of us planning a 7800X3D build (even though it doesn't care about timings too much, but also highly beneficial for non-X3D chips).

  • Damn, just purchased Corsair Vengeance 6000Mhz CL36 (AMD Expo) for $259 just yesterday; already shipped.

    • You could probably manually tighten the timings yourself to the same amount.

Good price for AMD "sweet spot" recommended ram for Ryzen 7000 series

    • +1

Yeah CL30 6000 is about as good as it gets for Zen 4. B650's don't always run over 6000 stable (some boards still don't support speeds over 6000 officially) and Ryzen performs much better with the tighter timings according to HUB.

  • Definitely Hynix, good chance being A-Die. Not bad!

    • It's M-Die

      • Now that M-Die is slowly stop being produced, those M-Die XMP bin have more chance to have A-Die instead in them.

        • Good to know, this will help in identifying the die

  • Perfect kit for am5

  • Is there a XMP version of this for Intel 13600k?

  • +2

Just hit the button on a set of these before I saw the post.
    It's dropped again since yesterday.
Should be well suited for 7800x3d when it drops in april.
    The stockpiling of parts begins!

  • From the above comments, I think I know the answer, but can someone please confirm this will be a good choice for the ryzen 7600 non x

    • Yes.

      • Ok, thanks. Bought 1

So tempted to go AM5, but then I look at my AM4 and the money I spent on Samsung B-die (about $270 for 2x16GB), I guess I'll stretch it longer.

    • yes, I have the same thoughts here… the cost to achieve 10-20% improvement is just not worth it…

    • +1

Honestly if you aren't in a rush to adopt DDR5 and move to AM5 (the motherboard prices are horrendous), the 5800x3d is still a perfectly good option for AM4 users

those kits are CL32 not 30 right? can you link to the CL30 kit?

      • I have the Kingston fury renegade ones. Unfortunately it wasn't able to post with my ASRock steel legend x670e. I am thinking of buying this gskill ones and see if it works

        • try seeing if there are any reddit posts or pc builds on youtube using that config, may be a voltage or a subliming thing you can tweak to get it going. ram can suck ass trying to get it play nice

        • jayz2cents just made a video with this issue, looks like its with the x3d chips, he was having to run his ram at 4800mhz to get it to post

  • Paid $300 for these a few weeks ago, not sure if I can squeeze another 2 sticks because of my AIO but we’ll see what happens

    • +4

I wouldn't bother trying with the current AMD memory controller. They outright recommend against dual rank configurations.

    • If you wanted 64gb you should of gone for 2x32

    • Pretty sure 4 dimms will break your PC these days

    • +1

See my comment to dizzhy below - if you run four DIMMs you need to do so at reduced bandwidth and slackened timings. It won't even POST at 6000MHz.

  • Can I buy 2 of these for 64gb?

    • +2

You probably won’t be able to get 6000 cl30 with 4 dimms, stay with 2x32 if you want 64g

    • +2

As previous comments, while you can use four DIMMs, you have to drop the speed back to around DDR5 5200 with much slacker timings. I have 128GB of the 32GB DIMMs purchased back in October at original bleeding edge pricing (yes, it will make you cry to know what I spent) and went through the process of volt adjustment and timing tweaking to see what it could do and it just wasn't worth it - the memory controller just isn't up to it.

So you can have four DIMMs at lower performance, but if you're gonna do that buy cheaper RAM 'cause you'll never come close to seeing the performance these are capable of. Or use two DIMMs at full speed.

I expect at some point the memory controller will evolve to a point where it is capable of handling four DIMMs at full rate, but that will be a generation or two down the line.

Going through that process, a few people were quite disparaging about the memory controller, but bear in mind that for the memory controller to operate at 5200MHz it actually needs to run at twice that speed, because the way it's addressing two DIMMs per channel is by interleving I/O - it's sending and receiving data to two separate DIMMs on the same channel both on the rising and falling side of each clock tick (that's what the DDR in DDR RAM is all about). So in many ways, the memory controller in Zen 4 is actually pretty incredible, it's just not incredible enough just yet.

So yeah, if you want 64GB, only buy 2x 32GB DIMMs. If you need 128GB, either accept lower speeds, or wait for Zen 4 Threadripper towards the end of the year (which has more memory channels, so will natively support more DIMMs at full data rate right out of the box).

  • Kingston 5600mhz cl36 for $179 or this

    • +2

Kingston. They overclock to these speeds/timings

Edit. I should be clearer. If you are OK with tinkering (it's not hard), then Kingston. Put the money saved to a better cpu/gpu.

If you cbf or are worried, just get these.

They're essentially the Kingston's, but the overclocking has been done for you.

      • Thanks for the explanation :) I will give the Kingston ones a go

  • Damn, just bought an hour ago on https://www.pccasegear.com/products/59374/g-skill-trident-z5…

Paid $30 more for the GST and Aus warranty I guess

Bought the same one, can't be bothered cancelling, other items in my order are going our of stock. Plus yeah Aus warranty.

Buying the 7800X3D at the drop. Have been waiting sooooo long!

    • Can't wait.

  • For a i7-13770k would this make sense over Intel XMP ram like these https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757847 ?

  • Is this the same model?
