$40 for 2 pixel buds or no deal 🤤🤤

  • -1

I just want the government to legalise bud :(

    • +7

      one day bud.

    • -3

Didn’t know ozbargain was full of so many squares, pretty embarrassing that you got negged over such an innocent joke.

    • It's legal on prescription for vaping. There's lot of online clinics now.

Wow thought the Pixel Buds Pro would take ages to get below the $224 I paid in Jan. Zero regrets, they're fantastic.

    • +3

same, very happy with the pro also

  • +4

Can anyone comment as to how these compare to airpods pro 2nd gen?

    • +2

My partner has the Airpods Pro 2 and I have these. I agree with everything in this article.
I do have seal issues, even with the largest ear buds. I can correct the seal with some adjusting so it's only a minor gripe. If you have the money to burn, or are in the 'apple ecosystem' go Apple. I've been very happy otherwise with my GPBP. At this price you can't go wrong.

      • Thanks for the link. Worth noting that the article mentions that spatial audio was not on the Pixel Buds Pro, and likely true at the time it was published. Since then Google have released this feature.

Reviews on JB Hifi arent that good. Sony and Bose have good reviews but those shapes look too big on ears.. Need something like airpods(sleek look) with good sound and ANC. Any recommendations?

    • +2

airpods probably? You can use it with android phones too

    • I have the Bose QC 2, and they are excellent, the noise canceling is outstanding. The wings on them keep them in place well. Other than how it looks the size hasn’t been a problem at all. I can highly recommend.
I’ve previously owned AirPods Pro 2, Sony, Jabra, sennhieser momentum 3, beats fit pro and more. The Bose for me are the best out of the lot (sennheiser and BEO sounded the best out of the lot). In saying that these are over $100 less than the Bose.
I have a problem with my head where the buds keep falling out other than the Bose and beats fit pro. So I’ve skipped on trying these out as without wings on them I expect I’ll have the same problem.

      • +2

wings are good, the google pixel pro have multipe tips sizes and once i found the right tip they fit well if you "screw" them in properly in your ear. i love the responsiveness and integration with assistant which seems smoother than bose or sony… the series A have wings but not the pro model

    • +2

Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro. Great sound and fit.

      • Yes the sound was impressive but I hated the case and how difficult it was to insert the buds into the case so sent them back

        • That's fair enough. The wings don't stay on very well would be the only other negative.

          • +1

@vanreek: the sound of the liberty pro blew me away , great full base but clamshell case was a deal breaker, i'll look out for the v4.

the google earbuds pro probably come a in a little just under the liberty 3 when running this test https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91BUM3WhCfo&t=26

but at this price the google ones are cheaper than the pro and solid case, function, sound and integration with my pixel phone which is great

    • +3

It's got 4.5 stars on JB. Reviews all over the place generally mirror that.
      Not 'that good'???

    • The new Bose QCII’s are actually very comfortable.
I like them as much or more than my APP2’s.

My XM4’s are straight uncomfortable, and my MTW3’s are pretty all-round average.

For Android comfort, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and LG Tonefree FP8/FP9 are tops. With the GB’s also coming with excellent tuning and great ANC (only topped by the Bose).

  • How are iPhone users liking the Google Buds Pro so far? Any feedback on those?

    • -6

You would have to be daft to use this over airpods pro with an iPhone

      • +4

I'm not made of money. 💩

        • -1

Wait for the Airpods Pro 2 sale like I did.

        • +2

          But you bought an iPhone..

      • I’m interested too, would prefer usb c and google assistance

    • +2

Honestly, the APP2 is probably Apples best product. Perhaps tied with the M1 Pro 14” base model.

The Pixel Buds are very inferior… particularly on iOS.
      Worse ANC, tuning and transparency.
I’d argue that you might as well just grab a pair of Ankers or Soundpeats. Or perhaps the LG Tonefree FP8A’s which are currently on sale.

  • +1

i bought this case for the pro and happy with it

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/266040144792?var=565899225084

  • does google price match? i would like to use my credit from the p7p for these

    • +1

they are on sale at google store but they don't price match jb because it's a coupon. they only price match list prices, not coupon prices

      • okay sweet thanks, also does anyone know if theyre a good upgrade from galaxy buds 2? i lost one of them and have a pixel phone so was considering buying these

        • +1

Not sure about the quality, but they're currently the cheapest I've ever seen them, so if you're thinking of buying, now would be the time to pounce unless you can get a good deal on the Samsung ones from the education or gov store.

  • +3

I'm so poor I use SoundPeats air pro 3

    • +1

I've got the Sound peats air 3 deluxe HS, very happy and safe walking around with baby carrier rather than transparency mode. I don't commute on PT anymore though. Call quality for work is also excellent

SQ on the soundpeats is easily as good as my Samsung buds 2 pro

    • I just bought those a few months ago and have been disappointed with the battery life. My two other SoundPeats products over the years have worked really well. I'm considering buying these as an upgrade

  • +1

Sticking with my Edifier neobuds pro

  • +1

Anyone used these and the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro? How do they compare? This is a very decent price

  • +2

So I'm trying to return the pixel buds A series I bought last week to get the Pro ones.

First time returning to the google store but wow they are NOT making it easy. Fill out a request online, then fill out another return request, then print off a security form, THREE copies each of a consignment note and commercial invoice, call Toll to organise a pickup…

if I were cynical, they're making it so difficult that you'd want to give up. Not happening google.

    • +1

The courier will only take one copy.

      • do I stick anything to the return parcel? Instructions are deliberately obtuse.

        • +2

Just give one of each to courier. They know what to do

    • Haha. I returned a phone that was DOA too (6 months ago) and remember thinking the same thing!

But I find Google are VERY good at accepting return requests/refunds/price matches etc - as in they answer chat/phone almost instantly, resolved within actual minutes (most companies it takes many many more minutes just to get hold of someone, let alone have them make a decision, let alone have them ACTION that decision).

I've had a google refund actioned and call closed within 2 minutes of me hitting the call button once, no exageration.

So I take the cumbersome paper work as a small inconvenience for the above service.

  • +1

Cool. Bought em 3 weeks ago for $299 from google, got an instant $80 refund cause of this.

Pretty happy with them, the touch controls are the best I've ever had on buds, case is nice, interface/software is great. I still struggle with my left ear a bit (always have), it feels like it is going to fall out despite never having actually fallen out. Must be a sensory thing on my part as I've had this (left ear) with other buds.

  • +2

How's the microphone on these for calls?

    • Microphones on mine are great, never have a problem with phone calls

      • With background noise?

        • +1

          Yep!

  • +1

If you have a Samsung device, the Samsung Buds 2 Pros are my choice. Pity they don't have a proper app for other android devices from other brands or use for iPhones…..

    • +3

I have been able to use Galaxy Wear app on Pixel 7 Pro, headphones work alright too.

    • +2

The Galaxy Wearable app? Not supported on iOS, but happily using it off the Play Store on my POCO X3 Pro. Can customise touch controls, EQ, experimental features, etc.

  • If you want Google integration, they are great. If you want sound quality, they are average.
I use them to throw in my work bag but they aren't great for more than casual listening.

    • Not suited for when you are producing hit records with Drake?

  • Thanks Op, nailed a set. Click and collect was ready before I even got the invoice in my email.

    • Thanks Op, nailed a set

You might be using them wrong.

  • Thanks OP

Grabbed off the Google store with 10% store credit

  • Tempted but my Sony WF-1000XM3 is still going fine.

  • Tempted to get a second pair at this price for the inevitable occasion where I lose them on a plane, leave them in a security tray or just trash them.

I use these every day and it's now a rare occurrence to even preference the WH1000MX3 over these in a noisy environment just due to the NC and functionality they provide in such a discrete little package.

  • Thanks OP got a pair from the Google store for $216.90 (used done previous Google credit) and scored 10% credit ($21.69). Noice 👍

  • Thanks. Was waiting for Google store to drop this low.

  • Received. Was hoping they send me two :) but only got one

    • +1

Did they send the left or the right one?
