  • 120Hz or 144Hz?

    • +3

They updated the listing it seems. Lemme fix.

I think it should have been like this last time anyway. Others seem to be 120Hz over HDMI and 144Hz over USB-C.

    • +1

Feels like need to split the difference 132hz

      • +8

        His or hz

        • That's actually quite good

  • +3

What are people using this for practically?

    • +6

My ultrawide doesn't fit in my backpack so when traveling a portable monitor is pretty useful alongside my laptop.

    • +2

      Secondary screen for a laptop.

    • +1

      Turn smartphone into tablet

      • Have you actually done this and how do you find it practically?

        • +1

I have an s22 ultra and dex has a laptop like interface. It can do the basics so for me its ok.

    • I take my Android tablet with my laptop to use as a second screen, it is very useful when doing certain work.

      • How? Does it has to be certain tablet?

        • I use and app called SuperDisplay, install it on the PC and on the tablet.

"turns your Android device into a portable USB display for your Windows 10 PC. Duplicate or extend your screen simply by plugging in your phone or tablet."

  • Doesn’t come with a stand

Anyone who has this monitor recommend anything other than the stand they sell as an extra

    • +2

The protective case folds and can be used as a stand.

      • Thank you for confirming

  • How about this one? Works out to be about 141 usd and seems better?

    • +1

Cheaper as there's no touchscreen. Otherwise it's good.

      • Ah of course 😅

    • Colour accuracy is only 79% DCI vs 100% for this deal

    • Apparently all these cheap portable screens are pretty good, if you can find the exact one on Amazon then it's probably fine.

  • I need to get one of these for when I work while travelling at the end of the year. I don't really have a lot of use for one yet but it's good to know the prices are good!

  • Hi Clear,
I'm looking at getting this particular monitor and THANK-YOU for your help in the past.
I missed out on the last deal you had as it sold out.
Can you tell me what you think of this one (below) in comparison and if there are any discount codes for it too ???
    Thanks again

OzBargain rules prevent me from posting stores with <95% feedback but I'm sure the seller is fine. Colour gamut is less being only 100% sRGB without DCI-P3, but it is slightly bright at 500cd/m². Important to note the below if you get the 144Hz version.

Please Note: The 144Hz version can only get 144Hz by type-c and DP port, if you connect the monitor to your device by HDMI port, it can only reach 130Hz.

      • Thanks Clear….
        Regards :)

Just noticed the PS4 with Forza Horizon 4 lol

  • Are there deals on portable oled screens? I'm thinking with dark theme maybe they would be good for reading like eink monitors but cheaper and better.

    • +1

This one can be had for pretty much the same price as before with the coupon AN18 or US$192ish for the 13.3" 4k non-touch.

  • Hi Clear,

Any 14-17 inch touch screen 2k monitors with 144Hz or above?

    • +2

      17.3" 2K 165Hz from US$165.73 (~A$249.69) with coupon AN18 or Bundle: 17.3 2K 165Hz US$179.27 (~A$270.09) with coupon AN18

Quick glance found these two from same store. The US$165.73 has 300cd/m² brightness with mini HDMI + USB-C, while the US$179.27 400cd/m² brightness with mini HDMI + mini DP + USB-C.

      • Thanks alot!

      • How did you get 179.27. I am getting 191.14

  • Hey Clear,

You don't happen to be aware of any similar displays with rear ports and a vesa mount for a wall mount?

    • Various sellers have them as small as 10" with VESA. Rear ports not so much.

  • Would these portable monitors work well as a method to convert a phone with a broken screen into a tablet? (I have a Note10 plus hanging around and could make it into a decent, though not as portable tablet)..

    • +1

Should work. Dex should fire up

  • how would this run the ps5 everyone just got?

  • Hey @Clear
    Appreciate your hard work!

I've just had a look at the store and found this one

    https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005005274426278.html

    17.3 inch 2k touch screen

Works about to be $262.49 at checkout after code.

    Does it look any good?

  • +1

Anyone know a 120-144Hz portable screen that is < 200 aud. 1080p is fine cause I use it mainly for gaming when travel. Most products I find are either 1080p 60hz or 2k/4k 120-144Hz.

  • So if I plug my non-touch laptop into this with hdmi cable, it becomes touch?

    • Connecting a USB-C cable from this to the laptop will make the portable monitor touchscreen.

      • Thanks. My (old) laptop does not have USB-C. I assume this device is not for me.

        • USB-A to USB-C cable will do the trick.

          • +1

@Clear: Are you sure about that? The listing does not mention DisplayLink at all. You won't be able to get DP Alt-mode over USB-C with a USB-A to USB-C cable or adapter.

            • @SkyArrow: We're talking about touchscreen functionality. HDMI for display and USB-C or A to C for the touchscreen to work.

              • @Clear: Ah yes, my bad, missed that it had a mini-HDMI input

  • Do the smaller (<12") displays get within $100AUD on sale ever? I have seen some 14" ones but looking for something smaller for a project. Thanks.

  • -1

    Do these last long? Aliexpress…

  • Ok I caved. Please don't be a lemon. Please don't be a lemon.

  • Thanks mate, finally pulled the trigger on a touchscreen one!

  • Can you give any estimates on shipping to Australia? I need one of these within the next few weeks if possible.

    • I've found the estimated dates on aliexpress to be reasonably accurate these unless something goes wrong - at the moment it says 13 April via Singapore Post.

  • I'd be super interested in something like this to use when setting up NVRs for clients. Currently I'm lugging a 21" LG monitor around, and using the mouse that comes with the NVR.

@Clear if you find anything good thats about 16" 1080p 60hz touchscreen that would be pretty much perfect

  • Is "IPS A" any different to IPS, and is it also 178 degrees both x and y viewing angles?
I would like to use this both horizontal and landscape at times, and need the viewing angles to be wide in both orientations.

Also, when selecting the configuration with the protective case, the Au plug is not available. When selecting AU plug, is that the actual power supply with an integral AU plug, or is it just an adapter to convert the US/EU one?

    Thanks

    • +1

IPS A refers to the grade of the panel.

The AU plug would be an AU charger and not an adapter. Any old phone charger would do the trick if you have a spare.

  • Is a touchscreen worth it for the extra $50 cost vs no touchscreen option?
My primary use is for it to be a second screen monitor alongside my Lenovo legion 5 Pro laptop so this is probably not it for me.
I also foresee myself get annoyed by fingerprints on screen

    • Depends if you can see yourself using the touchscreen. I personally don't.

  • Ordered on 20-Mar but not getting shipped yet. Is this normal?

    • Mine also hasn't shipped yet - for my other purchases on aliexpress they usually ship in 0-2 days so i'd say this is unusual

    • Mine was noted as shipped today. Got a message from the seller few days ago they were waiting on more stock so it must have arrived.

  • thanks @Clear. Specification-wise this one is perfect to me. ordered one.

  • +1

Received an email from AE today, "Your order XXXXXX could not be delivered as planned. This could have happened because of a failed signing, a miscommunication, or for other reasons. Please click below to view more details regarding your order.". Anyone getting the same issue?

    • I haven't received anything like that yet, the tracking for mine shows its waiting processing in Australia. Did you get this resolved?

  • Finally got mine! There was an issue with the address they wrote on mine but eventually got it. Looks like a pretty solid monitor from first testing. Mine can get up to 144hz from the windows settings which was unexpected! Only downside would be the visible glue around the edge of the screen but I'm sure I could scrape it off if I really wanted.

Also tried it out with the PS5 and it works well 1440p @120hz and HDR.
