        • Thanks. So far 4x $500 cards ordered.

Needing to order a few more.

Also tested the payment in AirBnB with one card (didn't submit), but you can go to Pay Now and select credit instead of the recorded credit card.

    Just bought 2x $500 cards

Came through within 3 minutes of payment.

Had to check out on mobile as the checkout page wasnt progressing (possibly due to load)

    • Thanks for this. Wasn't working for me on desktop. Tried at least 5 times with multiple cards. Mobile worked flawlessly and received gift cards within 5 mins

    • thanks for the tip! Couldn't purchase it on desktop but worked on mobile :)

  • Keep on getting Transaction Failed, tried 3-4 different credit cards/debit cards & 1 PC, 1 laptop, 1 mobile device, 2 browsers. lol

  • When I go to Gift cards in airbnb app. It says "seems like gift cards aren't available in your region yet?"

Had a similar issue about not being able to redeem because country was set to the US, changed the phone number to an AU one, and that seemed to do it

      • +1

Thanks for that, was also facing the same issue with Airbnb telling me I needed to create a new account, changing the phone number worked a treat

  • +1

Fingers crossed AirBNB doesn't get folded by the time I use these GC

  • can this be used if i extend a stay i originally used to pay with credit card? paying with gift cards for the extra amount portion.

  • Thanks st George visa card worked. Was my first attempt

  • Great deal. Never used the site before so wondering - Do I redeem gift cards straight away or sit on the cards until I need to use them? or doesn't matter either way.. Thanks!

    • +1

Doesn't matter either way but easier if you just add them all to your airbnb account so it just automatically adds the credit to your next booking.

  • Excellent deal! Purchased 2 x $500 via Westpac CC on desktop. Gift Cards received with two minutes of placing the order and credt had been loaded onto my AirBNB account.

It didn't work on my samsung internet browser. Kept on hitting "Next" but it won't go anywhere (even with no ad-blockers). Switched to chrome and worked seemlessly.

  • Just bought the gift card, and applied it to Airbnb. Works a charm. Thanks!

  • 6x$500 purchased for the family / in-laws Christmas holiday down the beach. Knocking $450 off the total. Great deal. AAAA11111+++ Will purchase again.

  • Purchased. Thanks!

Does anybody know if the credit gets refunded if a booking (eligible for free cancellation) is cancelled?

    • +2

Yes, the credit goes back to your account. I’ve had more cancellations by hosts than actual trips.

  • Purchased. Cheers.

  • I've added it as a gift card.. does anyone know how to check the credit on my airbnb account? Can't seem to see it

    • +3

Go to Profile, then “Payments and Payouts”, then “Credits and Coupons”

Easiest $225 buck saving on a already committed purchase… I have made a payment for outstanding accommodation booked in the USA for next month

Purchased via mobile online, website doesnt work

    I purchased 2x $500 gift cards - received in 3 minutes
My partner purchased 1x $500 gift cards - received in 2 minutes

went to airbnb.com.au/gift loaded all three.

    navigated to https://www.airbnb.com.au/account-settings/payments/your-pay…
selected "Credits" under neath the credit card selection
toggled the three gift cards on

    forced payment immediately.

    +1 OP thanks

    • This doesn't seem to work for me. I can apply it to second payment on an existing booking, but and the the amount as as Credit, with balance 0, but it does not stick. Next the Pay Now, it shows
"Eligible credits, up to the amount due, will be applied today."
If I hit Confirm and Pay, I only have Credit Card, PayPal etc. available.
      Not a great UX!

      • underneath there is gift card/credits option its the right side and small text

        • Can’t see that.

I got this from Airbnb Support:

Actually, gift card credits can’t be used to pay for the second payment, if you choose to pay with the pay less upfront option. But as I mentioned, if the user wants the second pay less upfront payment to be applied to their gift credit balance rather than their credit card, we can send the manual payment link to reverse the second payment credit card charge and apply the users credit.

          • @two_shirts: For the sake of anyone else looking, I worked it out. Dreadful UX!
On the payment page for the second payment, you need to apply the card credit. It will then show the balance due as $0. Then you have to say Pay Now using your chosen payment method - e.g Credit Card, PayPal etc., but NOT gift card. On the next screen it will show a $0 transaction to PayPal etc., that you have to approve. Of course, there is no actual transaction. Dreadful!!

But… great deal. I have just banked about $800 on existing bookings for an upcoming trip. Best Ozbargain saving ever for me.

  • Awesome deal. Booked my accommodation for upcoming Gold Coast trip. Thanks Op.

Hello Ozbargainers, this deal came in timely.

I've just completed re-booking an entire Europe itinerary worth $7800 in accomodation. New cost with the 15% is $6630, a saving of $1170.

    1. Purchased 7 sets of 2 x $500 gift cards, 1 set of $500, $200, $100 respectively with credit card (points!). This max's the giftcards.com.au purchase limit of $1000. Total of 17 Cards
    2. 15% discount is applied on cart checkout
    3. Gift cards arrived by email within a few minutes.
    4. Redeem gift card PIN's from email, paste into Airbnb under Accounts > Payment and Payout > Add gift Card
    5. Book your accomodation.

    Things to note.
    1. All of my accomodation had free cancellation and instant book. So I was able to cancel each of my bookings one by one and re-book instantly. This prevented some unlucky guy/girl to secure my dates on an already popular listing in the few minutes that I cancelled and re-booked.
    2. Original payment method would be refunded in a few days.
    3. I managed to redeem 14 gift cards, the last 3 ran into technical issues and to contact Airbnb support. Support advised to wait 24hours and the balance will populate. Apparently there's some internal redeeming/claiming limit's. Unsure if this is per account, system related or if it's genuinely a backlog of gift card redemptions.

When contacting support, needed to supply the gift card PINS, recipient email and purchasing email.

    Hope this helps!

    • Thanks for your feedback I've had one card fail. Will wait 24hrs and try again.

    • +1

Did you not get AirBnB "re-booking" fees booking the same accommodation and dates?

My host allowed me to cancel and money was refunded from original booking. No harm there.

We had an agreed price which they resubmitted, but the total had changed to quite a bit higher with AirBnB taking "price adjustment" and "service adjustment" fees.

Also when paying in gift cards it seems you can only pay all upfront. There is no first and second instalment options.

We still come out with some savings using gift cards but I now know not to change a booking.

      • Hi, I've just checked the payment invoice for all 8 hosts in Europe. No Re-Booking fees applied to any reservation, only standard room rate, cleaning fee and/or service fee and taxes.

We did take note some rates increased by approx $1-$3 per night, however this may be the algorithm calculating the popularity of the chosen nights.

We paid everything upfront as there were generous cancellation terms. We discovered the only way to pay 1st and 2nd instalments was to let airbnb apply the credit to the total, then divvy up the balance between instalment 1 and instalment 2 and settle via credit card. There was no other way around this so we opted to pay everything with credits upfront.

We were also unable to amend the payment option (if the initial payment was credit card), therefore we cancelled entirely and re-booked. I do mention that all our properties were instant book, therefore didn't need host approval first - perhaps your rate was locked in at a lower price and when you went to ozbargain it, there was a price difference? All of our stays were booked within 72hours of this deal going live.

    • Edit 27/03 regarding the "technical issues, please contact airbnb support" when redeeming pins.

The 3 remaining gift card redemptions were manually redeemed 40 hours after the initial "transaction error, please contact Airbnb" and support advising to wait 24hours.
This seems to be a Airbnb + giftcard.com redemption transaction limit. I contacted support on 3 occasions to follow up, on the third contact and redeeming the pins, the 3 cards were accepted.

Has anyone used the Coles vanilla visa to purchase these gift cards?

I did try using Coles Master Card PrePaid ($250 Yellow), it did not go through. no luck here.

damn …thanks for trying and sharing though!

Tks OP, my Easter holiday 2nd payment coming up and I make use of this promotion, works like a charm!

  • I tried to add the 2x$500 gift card and I received the same the error- We're having trouble redeeming your gift card. Please contact us for help. What can I do? :(

    • Are you copying and pasting the PIN only? Purchased $2k worth and redeemed yesterday

      • Yes. i purchased and added 6k in my account. I cannot add the last two x$500 gift card. Called Airbnb, they asked me to wait for 24 hrs.

        • See my previous comment. Unfortunately we ended up waiting 40 hours instead of the advised 24hours.

Thanks! Just saved $170 on the second instalment of my trip that was due is 5 days.
    Easy money!

  • I bought $3k of gift cards, which worked well for booking here and overseas. Thank you!

Anyone else getting transaction failed? Can't seem to progress.

Edit: Charged but no gift card received.

    • +1

Just in case someone else runs into the same issue:

Called up Virgin Money and they removed some block.I did a transaction immediately after which failed according to Coles but I was still charged. Called up Coles who told me it was declined and confirmed the pending transaction would drop off. Tried again a few hours later and it worked.

Got cards worth 900 for 770 and redeemed it. Just in time for Easter break. Thanks a lot OP for this amazing discount

Ugh ING blocked me after buying 2 lots of 2x$500. I called and waited and got it unblocked.
After 2 more transactions they blocked me again.

  • Is there a maximum number of cards that can be redeemed per 24 hours?
I redeemed 12 and its now saying "please contact customer service"

  • Awesome timing. Just bought 2 x $500 and loaded it on my account, and within 10 min everything was done. The total GC amount was applied automatically when i went to reserve the place so no fiddling around with entering multiple GC.

  • Great deal thank OP - Saved over $700 on a trip in a few months time.

  • Alright, aside from the hassle of ING blocking our cards twice, and then Airbnb suspending my ability to apply gift cards, I've finished booking accomodation for our month in Japan at the end of the year for 4 people.
Ended up buying $10k of gift cards thus saving $1,500 on accomodation. Absolutely stoked with that!!

  • Thanks OP, I just saved myself $$$$

some people might encounter a transaction fail when attempting to buy, I hit this issue called the customer service line, giftcards.com.au they tell me that its waiting an authorization code which I didnt get. They asked me to call the bank - did that and they said no problem on their end they couldnt see any attempt to even debit the funds. Tried again failed and called up giftcards.com.au again they say same thing waiting for code.

I tried another CC with same bank and this time the screen proceeds to the authorisation code which sends to your phone.

So not sure why one card didnt pop the authorisation code to screen and the other one did.

  • Looks like deal is finished. I don't see any discount.

  • Is this still available? When I go to cart it doesn't have any savings

    • looks like its gone now, I actually made my purchase around midday today
