    $185 for a 42" C2 ($900 gift card + $10 coupon from Perks to reduce the price)

Can't go wrong with that, I hope.

    • Where did this $900 gift card magically come from? As far as I can tell, you only saved $10 on top of the posted deal.

      • +1

The gift card has no relevance to Perks. I got it after signing up to Telstra mobile from a JB promo.

        Sorry for the confusion.

  • Very temp to replace my 32 inch Dell VA 4K 60hz monitor. But 42 inch too big for the distance I seat, will there be 32 or 36 inch comings model?

    • +1

LG probably won't be releasing any OLED TVs smaller than 42". There will be smaller OLED gaming monitors but those are always WAY more expensive than the 42" TV.

      • +2

Im using the 48 inch Gigabyte Aorus fo48u oled. It's big at first but after a while it's a ripper. My 27 inch Dell looks tiny now.
Doubt I will ever go below 42 inch again for a monitor.

        • +2

I know what you mean, I'm using my old 55" Sony LCD TV as a productivity display because my 27" Dell monitor died. It's pure immersive bliss, if you have the space to place the TV on a cabinet/shelf behind the desk.

  • Why people excited with OLED? I thought it has screen burn risk and better to go with mini LED which provide almost the same quality picture, less expensive and less risk?

    • +6

Because it is so much better. Burn in risk is from older generation OLEDs.

    • +2

Mini LED can’t get the contrast ratio that Oled has. Mini led is brighter and better for daytime viewing but for watching in a dark room, Oled wins easily

    • Once you go OLED you will never go back

    • I have both and honestly I can’t warrant the price difference for Oled. I am not a fan of how hdr looks so there is that too. HDR on Oled is much better than mini led. Mini led you notice the backlight at times, but it’s not jarring.

Me waiting for 77" C2 deals

    https://i.imgflip.com/2scyzk.jpg

  • LG 55" CS or the Sony 55" A80J at the same price?

Will only be used for watching tv/movies.

    • LG plays anything on a USB. Sony and Panasonic have a lot of problems with this.

    • Ide go the sony after having to use the shite webos with a c1 for the last 2 years.

    • The difference would be negligible. Realistically, go for the one you feel comfortable with. Unless you are a professional reviewer, you are highly unlikely to see a difference. Check out a few reviews if you want to, but sometimes overthinking it causes more headaches.

I bought my 65 inch Panasonic OLED back in 2020 and couldn't be happier with it. Bought a Google tv Chromecast to get all the available apps and never looked back, until now.

Might sell my 65 in OLED for $1200 and buy the 77".

Looks like (ahem) Hardly Nohow has matched JB at 1095…

    • Not just HN, Binglee as well. Those two always never lower prices to start with and just follow others

"The Best TV is Impossibly Cheap", decidedly NanoLED. Learning of this upcoming tech that aims to surpass OLED, delays my purchase of a splendid TV for monitor use.

    • +5

That video says it’s expected 2026…

  • I’ll definitely regret not buying this in the future when I finally have a gaming PC

  • C2 42" now or wait C3 42"?
For my desk top monitor PC and Console.

    • +1

The C3 series is offering nothing new this year, LG is putting all their effort and new tech into the G3. Not worth waiting for the C3 I reckon.

      • +1

They also disabled dev settings and you can't turn off that auto dimming

      • +1

        Yes, true… It's very disappointing.
        Same panel with C2.
I expected gen3 panel that is much brighter than gen2 on C3 but only applied G3 model they starting from 55"…

I have to grab one C2 42" tmr.

        Thanks!

This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLCCZQxQ3mM may help you setting your new OLED. I don't have OLED, can't judge helpful or not for the video. Even the chats, people sharing the setting and tips for their C2

  • Same price at Gerry too if you’re struggling to find local stock at JB

    • And get $50 back if you have saved the Amex targeted offer spend $300 or more get $50 back.

  • WTF I remember last November LG C2 was around $1300 and the RRP is $2695. After a few months, RRP becomes $1395 and discounted price $1095??

  • Where can I get best deal on JB Hi Fi discounted gift card?

  • Fyi for a few on the fence. I swapped from a 34" widescreen Xiaomi+ secondary to this and it's been great. My desk is only 70cm deep but you can get the monitor close to 10cm to the wall and I've found this absolutely fine. My desk is 75cm tall and I also found the height perfect.

Dual monitors were better for work but I've grown accustomed to snapping windows around this screen and also turning it off and setting aggressive screens savers etc to reduce risk of burn in.

Overall I'd say the little I gave on the work side was more than made up for on gaming because omg I'll never change back!

just bought the C2 42inch + 4 year extended warranty , in total 1204.5. Using %15 off gift card to bring it down to 1024.
Pretty good to be a new 4k monitor for gaming.

    • +1

Same boat with you! But my GCs were 10% off. Bring it down to $1084.
      You are the winner!

FYI, the deal will finished on 26/03.

  • 55" is all gone now.

  • Missed out on the other Good Guys eBay offer. :(
So this is the next best thing: Negotiated down to $1085. Bought $1000 gift card from AGL Rewards (3%) at $970.
    Total = $1055.

  • Got the C2 42" delived this morning via Toll Priority, was quicker than I expected. The TV looks phenomenal, and I have no idea what people are talking about when they claim that OLED subpixel structure looks crap for productivity work, it looks perfectly good to me on both Windows 10 and macOS. I struggle to see any difference in text clarity when compared to a traditional LCD monitor.

BTW minimum viewing distance is definitely important for such a large display — I've got my C2 42" located 70cm away from my eyes, so you'd need at least a desk that's 80cm deep I reckon (unless you use a chunky monitor arm or something like that and have extra clearance room behind your desk that allows you to position the TV slightly further away). I have my TV sitting on a cabinet/shelf behind my desk, as my desk is only 70cm deep.

    • (Replying because I'm locked out and can't edit my above comment anymore) Actually, you could probably get away with a desk that is 70cm deep. But I definitely wouldn't go any closer than that, it really is awkward to use a large display that is too close to you.

    • +1

This is the reason why I am hesitant in getting it as a monitor because I don't have a desk deep enough to justify the size of the TV.

    • and I have no idea what people are talking about when they claim that OLED subpixel structure looks crap for productivity work

I don't think anyone is saying "OLED looks crap for productivity", they are just saying the pixel density is going to appear lower than the specs suggest compared to an LCD. Some people like myself don't even notice the lower pixel density of a 32 inch 1440p monitor vs a 32 inch 4K monitor, but it depends on viewing distances and some people do see the pixels so it bothers them.
So just to be on the safe side people will mention it for desktop use especially on a display that's so large.

      • Nah there's always people saying the subpixel structure is no good for productivity use, they're not talking about the resolution:
        e.g.

        • I read those comments. I think they are just pointing out the negative aspects you notice on OLED when reading static text/productivity which is correct.
But I am pretty sure the issues will be less noticeable if you simply increase viewing distance on OLED (might need much less increase in distance than you think).
That's why OLED is considered more suitable for gaming because with gaming there is constant motion/changing of pixels so you don't notice the lower perceived pixel density.
Doesn't mean you can't use one or the other for productivity though, just need to be aware of the compromises. Both LCD and OLED display types have their compromises.

  • Got the 42 inch and a toaster from Harvey Norman so we were able to avail ourselves of the $50 rebate for $300 spend across 4 Amex's. The toaster lady wouldn't sell me a tv but the tv guy was happy to sell me a toaster.

Well after 3 months of anxiously awaiting a better deal and hoping stock wouldn't run out, I've finally succumbed to the 77CS and managed to snag the very last one at JB today at an all time low price so I'm very pleased now! Only problem is my new house still isn't ready yet so now I'm stuck longingly staring at the box in the shed for a couple more months as there's no space in my bedroom currently. Going to be a killer wait lol
