I think this is one of the best deals for a 65 inch OLED that i've ever seen.
Worth the yearly Costco membership just for this purchase.

Outrageously good value. Would have waited but alas pulled trigger earlier…

  • +4

If you're in the market for an OLED, don't ask questions. This is the deal to jump on. I'm skeptical that there has to be a catch because this is stupid cheap.

    • There shouldn't be any catch considering this is the same store that recently sold $10 bottles of Johnny Walker and honoured all orders!

    • There have been some crazy deals.
      (these use LG panels)

      • +1

Bought the 65" philips from that deal and can't be more happy.

  • "One or more items in your cart is not available for delivery to the selected address"

  • +1

Available in store as well ?

    • Usually yes, and cheaper, because online order includes delivery fees.

But some deals are online only.

    • +1

None at Moorabbin (not a case of sold out, haven't had for ages)

  • +3

Way too many upvotes for a TV that isn't available (online at least).

    • Haven't got a membership, has anyone been able to get it still?

      • +2

I jumped on in the first 2mins this deal was posted and no dice.

    • +2

I was able to add to cart originally. Definitely had some stock when posted.

      • I was able to add it to cart as well. Once the payment details were added, it said "item not available". It then became "out of stock" 30mins later.

  • What the actual???

    • +1

      a) Brand
      b) Size
      c) Store
      d) Price
      e) All of the above

  • +3

Is OLED tech about to make a massive jump forward because these deals in the last couple of days have been very good.

    • +4

Inflation is killing sales of non necessary items leading to excess stock across all major retailers and thus significant price cutting. Don't expect these deals to last.

      • +13

        Why wouldn't they last?

This is only the beginning of the financial disaster we are heading into… 800k+ homes still on 1.99% fixed rates are in for an almighty shock to their "spending" money over the next 9 months, even if we don't see a single more rate rises.

        • +3

It'll only last until retailers have it in stock. After that it doesn't matter what's going on with the economy and inflation.

          • @Azro: But … They'll always have stock, unless they plan on going out of business

            • @Binchicken22: Stock of these particular models? They will run out eventually.

            • @Binchicken22: They will order a quantity in line with expected sales, they won't have excess stock that needs discounting to move.

          • @Azro:

After that it doesn't matter what's going on with the economy and inflation.

EVERYTHING is based on what happens with the economy. The fact that people don't know this is a worry

            • @1st-Amendment: Please get back on message. EVERYTHING is based on China = bad.
( Don't let team Scomo down, even if it's the rebadged Albo version )

            • @1st-Amendment: What I meant is who cares what happens with the economy if there is no more stock of discounted last gen tellies.
The original topic was about how long these deals would last.

        • +2

No problem. If the worst comes to the worst, just rent out your laundry for $2000 a week. You probably won’t even have to move the washing machine…

        • +3

TV pricing strategy is to sell TV'S far in excess of production costs to those who want the newest TV now, then reduce prices, hence retailers prefer to have excess stock rather than not enough.

Coming off covid where there were huge shortagers of stock they flooded the market to compensate.
But now the stock is far in excess of demand hence massive firesale prices. Retailers are scared with getting stuck with too much stock they can't move as rate rises have significantly tanked sales.

Once stock reduces then sales will cool off.
New shipments coming in will also be significantly reduced.

Bitcoin is already recovering and making annual highs. Dont think we are heading into disaster when theres still so much optimism in crypto.

          • +2

@fuzor: Lol. Will go to ZERO.

          • @fuzor: Have bookmarked your post .

          • +1

@fuzor: Isn't it the exact opposite? Bank failures might lead some to decentralised crypto?
            Shit's unravelling

        • Who are these lucky 800k homeowners who all fixed the rate at the trough at the same time?

          • @boretentsu:

Who are these lucky 800k homeowners who all fixed the rate at the trough at the same time?

As part of Covid relief in 2020, the government handed out free money to the banks to lend at low fixed rates to offer security in uncertain times (look up Term Funding Facility or TFF).
Records show that at least 800k mortgagees took advantage of this scheme (pretty much everyone I know did) to grab low fixed rates for 3 years.
Well that 3 years is up right about now so 800k families with million dollar homes are about to see their rates jump from 2% to 6%. On a $1M mortgage that is an increase of $770/week. So shit, meet fan…

        • Not heading into financial disaster yet. Still too much money floating around.

Fed are already going to pause interest rate rises. A couple more years until disaster

    • +5

Historically TVs have always had drastic YoY price reductions and coupled with clearance season (March and early April) to pave way for the new model range this is why there are so many sales. Once stock clears there will be only smaller sales until Black Friday at the end of the year.

Technology wise there does not look to be much on the horizon in the way of huge leap forward in technology compared to other years (kind of like iPhones right now), with the standouts being:

      • brighter panels (especially OLED)
      • better coatings for handling reflections
      • not TV, but more wireless devices ie soundbars
      • ATMOS moving from premium and mid to low end soundbars
      • The general consensus is that MLA improvements on WOLED and improvements to QD-OLED make 2023 the biggest leap forward in some time.

That said, I’m not bothering with any updates until low light uniformity issues are resolved. But I don’t think that’s an area of focus since it’s treated as a “P.S” once you’ve already bought a set.

  • +2

Bought this for around $3K during last year's boxing day sale and I'm loving it still. This is an extremely good price.

  • +1

imagine if you didn't buy this at this price.

    • +7

Imagine if you’d been staring at a wall for the past year…

  • +1

A lot of 65" OLED offloading under 2.k5$ - nice to see.

Now 83" under $4k? Cmon people you can do it, is 2024 the year?

  • this or s95b?

    • +1

If I was spending >$3k for an LG based 65" OLED, I would want one with the heatsink (LG G2, Sony A90J, etc), or a newer 2023 model with the nano coating technology (or whatever it is called). The QD-OLED's are also a great choice. But if you want the best deal (so far), this A80K was it!

    • +3

That's a Samsung, so definitely this one

    • This or LG C2?

  • -2

    Oos!
Anyway already got the LG G2 ordered yesterday and delivered today.

  • +2

FML I literally just signed up a Costco account for this just now, $60, and it sold out.

    • +3

Lucky it’s just literally. Hit the backspace a few times, or swallow your words, and no harm is done

    • You can cancel costco membership at anytime and you will get full refund

  • Is this 60hz?

    • 120hz and OOS goneskys

  • Sold out 25 min later.

    • +1

      2.5min later more accurately

    • It was sold out at most within 8 minutes. Wasn't able to get after that long.

      • Fair enough, must have been like 10 units in stock.

  • +5

Instead of getting a bargain, I just wasted $60 on membership I would never use and missed the deal anyway.

    • Can just say I wasn't satisfied and get a full refund

      • +1

        I will try that.

    • +3

Get Costco to cancel and refund.

    • Membership is refundable. Just cancel it if.

  • Just sold out. I was in dilemma where to buy or not as I dont need tv now.it was on my cart and ready for pay. Ask friend and he want it, so just try to buy now and its out of stock. Its quick

  • Did anyone score one?

    • I am in need of a TV and this was the exact model I have been keeping an eye on for the past few Months, literally missed it by a few mins.

Had one in my cart but during the signup stage it sold out.

    • +3

Yer boi! I had to sign up and get a membership and managed to put through the TV order at the same time. The status is "Processing" though, so I'll have to wait and see. My CC supplier has already called to confirm the charge too.

      • Hey man, can you confirm if you ever got this?

Seems not a single person confirmed they actually successfully got one, so suspecting its a pricing error?

        • I did get it, and it was delivered yesterday! The price on the invoice is $2499.97 with a separate "Product Level Discount" of $750.
Edit: I'm in Perth, so maybe I got lucky with stock allocation or something vs eastern-staters?

  • For watching OTA TV, no need to go for OLED right?

    • even more so!!

    • +1

Sony has a great image scaling algorithm, so their TVs are great for watching OTA TV. I definitely noticed my LG C2 doesn't look as nice for OTA.

    • OLED is best combined with HDR content for deep blacks and bright whites

  • Hmm in store only think from now on?

  • +3

    You gotta be quick.
If your a movie lover, this was the one to buy.
LG is the better all rounder for gaming and general use
Samsung I'm against cause they tried to confuse and mislead the consumer with their QLED bullchit.

    • What makes the LG better for gaming and general use compared to Sony?

  • Apparently its a pricing error? Sony store won't price match it for this reason.

    • .97 is Costco's usual way of indicating a clearance item.

      • I tried Sony store and JB for price match but no luck. Any other suggestions or anyone had success elsewhere?

  • I paid 2gs for an A80J with damaged box this is pure insanity

    • was the box really damaged though?

      • Not sure was delivered by two blokes in a non-descript cardboard box

  • +1

Thank goodness it's oos. Impossible not to buy at that price.

    • +1

I keep thanking the OOS gods on all these nuts OLED deals - they've only just been working fast enough though to stop me from folding and pulling the trigger….

  • It is well and truly OLED hunting season….. my ongoing resistance is almost futile….

  • It happened so fast

  • Anyone happen to see in store at any of the VIC stores?

  • -4

75" Baun coming up for half the price if you can wait 8 days.

    • +1

That's a totally different product dude.

    • Not saying Bauhn is bad, but these 2 TV are quite different. Just like comparing Top Luxury CAR/budget CAR, $200 Wagyu beef to $20 beef. Buy the TV for your budget is the best choice. This TV was 3-4 times the price of Bauhn TV, so it is bargain to someone that fits their budget.

      • DIY Wagyu.
Steak shaped mould, fatty beef mince ,press it till tightly compacted.

  • +1

    Did anyone actually buy one?

    • +3

Not one confirmation yet. Could be 92 up votes (at the time of this post) for an unobtainable item.

  • +2

three little monkeys jumping on the bed
one bumped his head and bought OLED
mommy called a doctor and the doctor said
sorry but OLED is sickest deal on the net

    • one little monkey jumping on the bed
bumped his weeny head while bagging OLED
mommy called a doctor and the doctor said
      (after a 5 week wait)
sorry but your primate will never be a poet

  • There have been some cracker OLED deals lately.

  • +1

HODL for 83 A90J to hit the $4.5k sweet spot

  • I don't get it, isnt LG oled better

    • +3

LG display is the manufacturer of WOLED panels that are used in LG and Sony TVs. So no, LG isn’t better. It’s the same panel.

LG sets do have pros over the Sony though, and vice versa.

For example, LG have 4x full bitrate hdmi 2.1 ports vs Sony’s 2.
      Sony have superior motion handling.

  • Surely this was a pricing error, if not, crazy deal like $900 cheaper than the lowest price

  • Farkkkk missed it. That's cheap
