Spend 150$ more and you have a 7900 XT right? Shouldn't it a better choice.

      13 frames faster @ 1440p
      10 frames faster @ 4k

on a 16 game average from Hardware Unboxed.

      That's $11/frame @ 1440p or $15/frame @ 4k if you've got money to burn

      • +5

That 10 frames faster on 4k is significant because 60-70 fps is more noticeable than 150-160 fps for example

What's the cost per frame for 6950 XT anyways? Just check the latest march gpu video from HU and 6950 is 680 usd and 7900 XT is 800 usd (newegg so may not reflect aus market correctly).

Mate, $120-150 is another 1tb SSD I could stick somewhere to make my games load faster for those 10fps. Gotta think of CoL in these times!

@lolmanic: In my mind, when u by a 1000$+ gpu, you already have a good budget for SSD already. For example you dont said something like: "Let's buy a Samsung S23 instead of S23+ so I can spend the spare 100$ for case and charger" right?

            • @Masticccc: must be nice mindset, i myself have to choose between upgrading storage and having a gpu, gonna take me 2 months to upgrade gpu, hopes for the 4070 are dying tbh, maybe i'll go 3080, but its also $$370-400+ for 4tb ssd (only have one more m.2 slot) so its one or the other

just maybe people are in various different financial situations and assumption doesnt work

              • @Pugkin: I'm not making any assumption, but I'm talking in a pure objective view for the gpu alone. Obviously everyone has their own circumstances but I can't make the review base on each of them lol

                • @Masticccc: i meant generalisation, its still an assumption to say that because someone has $1050, they have $1250 to also buy a good ssd

    • +1

And the 7900 XT is also too expensive still

  • +6

Crazy that these are still so expensive

  • +2

    I'd say it's still better to go for the $1173 4070ti https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/764612
As dlss will increase longevity of the card. If you don't mind upgrading each gen then you shouldnt really get this 6950xt card.
It is a good card but won't survive as long as 4070 ti
