I have had one of these for 3 years and I am very impressed with it. The sound quality is fantastic considering the low height of the bar. Whooly fook this thing can get loud with no distortion.

The RGB lighting is strong without being bright.

The only 2 things I don't like about it are that it does go to sleep (not a bad thing), but if an email comes in it will wake up but not play the alert. It also seems to want to register itself as a microphone in the sound settings, it does not have a microphone built-in (didn't want one anyway)

On the upside, it has fantastic clearance under the sound bar for the mouse and thick keyboard wires (looking at you Corsair K70 USB cable).

The subwoofer is good, but the quality of the construction is a letdown, otherwise, the bass is tight and solid.

    • What’s it like for music - in comparison to say Logitech 2.1 speakers?

      • Very good, I play Spotify through it and it sounds very clean. Sure, you can't separate the speakers as it is a soundbar. It can get very loud but stay clean without distortion.

I wonder how did Creative lose it's popularity in the industry. I've always liked their sound cards.

    • Yeah, and their drives. Some 25 years ago

  • it feels like it is 2004 on this post.

  • Thanks OP! Any chance for a discount code for the V2 Katana? =)

    • The code seems to work for V2, it takes $55 off. The value obviously isn't as good as the posted deal which is already reduced before discount. Code doesn't seem to work for the V2X.

    Marketing BS overload.

  • I got mine from mass drop when it first came out about 5 years ago. I was looking for a PC soundbar and back in the day the choice was between this and a razer soundbar. The razer has this issue where it would go to sleep and you would not be able to wake it up without pressing a physical button (typical razer shite). So I'm glad the Katana handles this better it can wake up if it detects a sound signal. The only thing I don't like is the headphone jack. It's on the back so you can't see it and it cuts the sound to the soundbar if you plug something into it. It's a really stupid design. People have complained about it and Creative engineers have looked into a software fix but unfortunately there's nothing they can do.

  • I've never had my Katana go to sleep. Haven't changed anything around and I don't think I'm even running the software this time.

It's an amazing soundbar but it does not do quiet. I rarely have it louder than volume 1, but often with it went lower - I usually run Spotify at 3/4 volume in addition.
