For fans of the Alice/Arisu layout. This is more of a typers keyboard than used for gaming as the WASD keys are in an awkward position

  • No QMK compatibility - I'd skip 🤷‍♂️

    • afaik there are no wireless keyboard PCBs that do QMK/via, so that shouldn't really be a point against it here

      • The Keychron Q1 Pro was released recently

        • I like the idea of the Q1 Pro, only catch is it only polls at 90Hz over BT

      • There are custom ones, such as the mitosis

The receiver is what does the QMK stuff and the wireless is between the receiver and keyboard.

      • Keychron K Pro series (plastic case), and Q Pro series (metal case/gasket mount) support VIA/QMK and wireless (bluetooth not 2.4G).

      • I'll give that to you - I wasn't aware of the difficulties of QMK/VIA over bluetooth. Seems like it's a multifactorial problem, which is partially solved by ZMK (lose some of the comfy features of QMK to gain full BT functionality). Also agreed that 99% of people will be more than happy with the bone-stock firmware that these will come with, or whatever functionality that the Akko configurators provide. Thanks for teaching me something!

Yeah when I was frequently keeping up with r/MK the Polarity Works ZMK Bluetooth PCB's were a straightforward option for those who only needed common layouts (standard 60/65/75%).

Here is the post from last year. https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/tqbnsg…
They were the first I think to put the bluetooth chip on the topside of the PCB, so there was no signal interference issue from using a metal case. All the chip antennae signal has to travel through is the keycaps. Plastic (PC/FR4/POM) plate is recommended.

    • Keychron V series supported QMK and were about half these prices during this sale https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/761128
No wireless though. Need to look at the K Pro/Q Pro series (new) for wireless + QMK.

As you can see someone in the comment's of that deal a user mentions V series for $79, I think that was for the V5 or V6 model.

  • What's the difference between the PC98B and the 3098B? Just purchased the 3098B for $84 from a previous deal. Looking at the specs the only difference seems to be triple bluetooth on this vs single bluetooth on the 3098B?
