It's been discounted for a while.

I own this and I wouldn't recommend it, it's only USB 2.0 (480mbps); and it has performance issues.

The T3U Plus or T2U Nano seem to be preferable

  • Does it needs drivers for Windows 11? Or it is plug and play?

  • $19 is better

It's a great little adapter. Liked it so much we picked up a spare one when it was $19. Unfortunately, $29 isn't a great price for it on Amazon. If you need it now, sure, but if you can wait it'll probably be lower than $29 sooner rather than later.

If you don't need something tiny, the dual antenna versions can offer much better WiFi reception.

    • Got a link for the dual antenna versions?

I bought this one before, not recommended. so weak.

    • +3

Weak? Not surprised. A nano sized unit is going to have nano sized antennas which might work quite well and give good speed if its close to the router, but not have the signal strength if the distance is greater or the signal has to go through walls.

  • I've had one of these kicking around for years. Great form factor for an occasional use for when you have a device with suspect wifi.

We got one as our laptop had issues with it's internal Wi-Fi but we couldn't be bothered sending it back under warranty. As we have it in all the time we wanted something that couldn't get bumped or bent if we put the laptop down the wrong way on a bed or something like that. It's been great. We tried a few other older adapters that we just had around before buying this one and they all had issues. This one just worked and was tiny so it's been great. At $19 we couldn't resist getting a spare one.

Have you considered replacing the internal wifi card? Depending on your laptop, it may not be terribly difficult

        • We actually don't use it that much to be honest. We got it so my wife could do some basic word processing or spreadsheet stuff but she doesn't have the time any more. We got it pretty cheap too so we're not too fussed about it. If it were an expensive gaming laptop or something like that I would have done something about it for sure. I have a mate who could probably fix it for me if we eventually want to try to.

          • @ozbs25: Just so you know the best internal wifi adapters are cheap too, around $20-30 depending on seller. Only issue is if your laptop has a whitelist that restricts what models of wifi card you can put in it.

            • @Agret: Thanks for the info. I may look into it one day when we have more free time. 😀

    Dropped to $25 now.

  • I bought one of these about 2 weeks ago as my old USB Wifi adapter died. Its not bad for $25, does everything you need. The signal isnt as good as others but it does the job
