Actually not a bad price imo. The 7900 xtx is $1,665 on the same website. Still too much for xtx but both prices are headed in the right direction

    • +2

The hodl is paying off. Hodl longer if you can

      • Im in no rush i have a 3080. If im to upgrade it will be the xtx model lol but that will need to be under $1,400 for me to he interested

    • make the GPU vendors bleed yellow.

  • +6

    this will go quick

    • Yep this price is brilliant for a non reference Asus OC card

      • +9

        its no Stock now

  • I heard the 40 series asus cards have bad coil whine, anything about that on these amd models?

    • Who knows, my Asus video card was working fine. However, after I changed to a Corsair RM850x PSU, it started experiencing coil whine, which is incredibly annoying.

      • +1

Could it be the PSU though?

I had a 7970 and an Antec HCG 900W PSU ages ago. Coil whine was pretty bad so eventually I replaced the GPU with a 1080Ti and the whine was still there. Replaced the PSU with an RM750i and the whine disappeared.

Now the 1080Ti is in my new PC with and MSI A850GF PSU. Has a tiny bit of coil whine on some games but I'm unsure if it's the PSU causing it or because the GPU is just getting old.

    • None I can hear on my TUF4080, guess it's luuck of the draw

    • +2

Have a TUF 3080 and my system has coil whine, suspected was the gpu however believe it’s the evga power supply as no coil whine under full gpu load and no cpu and when both are fully loaded it’s there. Most likely the cpu rail on the psu.

  • decent decent, now you point at 7900xtx

    • How would the 7900xt do at msfs2020 in VR? Much worse than the XTX? Anyone tried?

      • +2

Stay away from AMD in VR if you have a choice, NVIDIA is much better there for some reason

      • yep learn the hardway, VD doesnt like AMD cards.

  • Has this expired? Showing as $1,399 for me.. Must've been a midnight special!

    • +3

need to change the location to nsw

  • Nice price, very tempted. I've been having some serious issues with my 2080 Super since the Diablo IV beta.

Still trying to decide if I should do a full upgrade on my Asus X570E and Ryzen 9 3900X which I built to play CP2077 or just replace my GPU and worry about an upgrade later.

    • +7

I can't see why you'd need to unless you plan to be cpu bound in your games (competetive shooter high fps/refresh) … But in saying that all you need to do in get your hands on a 5800X3D and upgrade done and sell your 3900x.

Also sorry to hear about your card and diablo 4, saw some news around that and some cards dying when playing.

      • +2

        5800X3D

I vouch this, it is a day and night difference when I upgraded from 3900x to 5800X3D.

      • +3

You need the VRAM. My 3080 10GB can't run RE4 remake at 1440p with textures at High 3GB without experiencing stuttering or crashing to desktop.

        • +2

i know Hardware Unboxed have been "harping" on about VRAM on the Nvidia high end cards for a few years now and i thought they were right but maybe making it a tad bit more dramatic than it should be after all you can just dial the textures down, but seeing last few game releases and the issue's that lack of VRAM is causing for some of these cards it's terrible and unacceptable considering how much they cost.

          • +1

@scud70: No issues on the 3090 though

          • @scud70: Exactly. Nvidia lauds themselves as the premium brand and commands a price premium because of it. Having to dial down textures below their direct competitor to make the game playable is inexcusable.

Too late for everyone that already bought a GPU with less than 16GB VRAM, but hopefully the penny drops for new buyers.

      • tnx, that's actually a very good idea. Might keep an eye on the 5800X3D and get one next time they hit that $480 threshold. The RX 7900 XT seems to have been dropping a bit, wonder if it'll go much lower in the next couple of months.

Might be time for me to spend a weekend doing some research.

        • +1

We might see some price movement with the midrange being released soon and it's only 3 months to EOFYS so could be worth waiting :)

          • @scud70: Good advice, I can wait ……. though I might have to switch out the 2080 Sup with the 3060 from the media PC while I wait, system seems to be having a fit with any high end games. Keeps randomly giving me a blank screen, error message on reboot seem to show the GPU is trying to draw more power than my system can give it. Always seems to be some issue to fix with my PC's these days :)

            • @Ebany: Lol wow that's a weird one, you've done DDU and fresh driver install (offline so the windows update don't mess with it) ? The 3060 is a tad bit better then 2060S anyway closer to 2070S…

Lol I've had my fair share of issues but I tinker and been in IT for 24 yrs.. Lol most of the issues are created by my.. Haha

              • @scud70: Did a fresh install, even changed my Corsair MP600 m.2 for a Samsung Pro m.2 and still no luck. When pushed with some games it'll eventually push the GPU fans to max and screen goes blank. System will often run for another few minutes before it locks up. Has happened a few of times over the last couple of years but the Diablo IV beta really did a number on it, just keep it stable now.

                • @Ebany: damn that's crud… :( sorry to hear that.

  • +1

Specs in op are wrong in terms of display port 1.4, should be 2.1:

    Block-quote
    Interface
    Yes x 1 (Native HDMI 2.1)
    Yes x 3 (Native DisplayPort 2.1)
    HDCP Support Yes (2.3)

  • This or 2nd hand strix 3090?

    • +1

Raw fps wise the 7900XT is ~10% faster but if you're running VR, want DLSS and/or interested in using the cuda cores for something then the 3090 becomes very attractive.

      • AMD has a DLSS equivelent its called FSR

        • -4

and you can use FSR on a 3090 too so whats your point?

          • +1

@Freestyle: point being "want DLSS and/or interested in using the cuda cores " people seem to forget AMD has an equivelent of DLSS?

            • -3

@OWKnowitall1: which can be used from a bloody Nvidia card and AMD card, DLSS in the other hand is exclusive

do u people like comparing apples to oranges?

              • @Freestyle: why are you so mad? Hope things are okay. Just because its exclusive it doesnt make the features that different from each other. How is it apples and oranges? I can already tell, talking to you, you're an aggressive fanboy. Rather then be civil and respectful, you have to act up like its personal. You're welcome to reply but im not gonna entertain this conversation any further. I wont even read your pitiful response. All the best

                • -4

@OWKnowitall1: why are you so triggered? Cant handle being wrong? You are like a 10 year old reddit user who just replies 'lul y so mad bruh' when you don't have a coherent response

grow up and accept when you dont make sense, you think anyone is waiting for your dumb responses? you are the one who keeps replying dumb stuff.

I like how you think fangirling for AMD is cool to the point you'll just make a stupid statement about FSR which makes no sense in the context, you might wanna stop worshipping corporate companies like its a sports team.

forget 3090 - get 4070ti if you go that way, runs cheaper and is better

      • +1

No, 4070 ti 12 vram is a joke. 3090 is better

  • +5

Still expensive to me but heading to the right direction.

Also making the similarly priced 6950 a joke (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/766036 ). This should have been sub 1k by now, if not sub 900.

  • Not bad but worth to HODL for a while

  • +1

not bad, but cards these days are massive! too bad not gonna fit in my itx
gonna hold out for reference or pulse

    • +1

Doesn't fit in my compact ATX either. 32cm length limit. Although being basically a 4 slotter it wouldn't have much room to breathe either.

  • Bought the reference card for $1249 on last deal 🥲

  • +4

Not bad but HODL, happy to pay 700 for it not 1000

  • Good price. Would have gone for it if these card were any stable 😳

  • Hodl for XTX

  • why do people think pc parts costs will decline in next few months or so?
serious question as I am looking to build/purchase a new PC.. so interested to know when best to purchase thanks

  • Has anyone received confirmation from MSY? I'm still waiting, wondering if they actually had stock…

  • thoughts on when xtx or 4080 will come down too?

  • 1 card remaining @ MSY ACT Fyshwick for $1190

  • 1 card remaining @ MSY TAS Glenorchy for $1190
