      How about coldmoon?

    • Yeah they must be getting desperate…<18 months ago it was USD$46 for 2 years…now $30 for "lifetime"? Slam those X keys boys…

I bought a lifetime subscription from them in June 2022 which i paid $50.25 AUD for according to the emailed receipt which i kept. So they've been doing lifetime for some time.

On another note. I couldn't install their VPN client as the antivirus kept saying that it was malware and it would quarantine the setup .exe file. Whether it was a false detection i don't know.

        • So… $50.25 down the drain?

@Magnus Awesome: Nah luckily i didn't waste the money. It turns out that you don't have to use their own VPN client as they have OpenVPN servers. I was still able to configure it through the official OpenVPN client and connect to their OpenVPN servers there.

This is what i'm talking about.

            https://openvpn.net/vpn-client/

And they've got a tutorial in how to do so.

@hollykryten: I would only use a vpn service if i can use default OS client. Not risking installing their client, not must trust is there to begin with. Official OpenVPN client is ok too.

Currently using MacOS IKEv2 client to connect to 3rd party vpn service.

If you use any VPN service, always use the actual openvpn/wireguard clients. Not the VPN provided client.

For anyone looking at this not familiar with VPNs keep in mind that all vpn providers do fake sales - don't get fooled by the 95% off BS.

This is about equivalent in price with their 3 year plan. Tbh you can't guarantee they'll be around post 3 years. I'd stick with the shopback/cashrewards 95-100% cashback deals tbh and just keep bouncing around the vpn providers.

    • This x100

      • vpn sales is so scummy. Can't believe it's not regulated more tbh. The whole industry is such a scam trap.

    • +1

So if it equivalent to a 3 year plan, why not just buy it and if it’s around longer than 3 years, bonus!

  • i wonder how the lifetime subscription plan is sustainable as a business. ain't that work like ponzi scheme?

maybe i don't have no idea to run a business (and be sustainable).

    • I bought ivacy VON lifetime for $us30 6+yrs ago. They're still kicking around. I assume they want me to spruik them and convince others to fork out on yearly plans.

    1) over inflated discount.
    2) I’d never touch a VPN provider who offers life time subscriptions. Ask yourself how are they paying for the ongoing express of providing you a service?
    3) According to this resells PureVPN, who apparently have given logs to third parties before https://www.reddit.com/r/VPNTorrents/comments/r26q3n/choosin…

Edit: another link where PureVPN admits to logging users IPs. https://torrentfreak.com/purevpn-explains-how-it-helped-the-…

Near pointless to use a VPN if they keep connection logs. Garbage provider.

      • Depends what you use them for. I don't care if they log me. We don't all use it for nefarious purposes.

        • +1

Using a VPN for privacy isn't nefarious.

I get that you probably just use VPNs for evading geoblocking, but the issue is that they advertise not keeping connection logs, but they do. When you use a VPN you are putting a lot of trust in to the provider. Even if you are just evading geoblocking you are sending all of your data to a non-trustworthy company.

      • If all my VPN provider is doing is keeping logs then I am less concerned about my privacy with them than the data I willingly hand over to OzBargain.
While the Australian government states that you can be fined up to $117,000, the fact is that the government does not actively pursue home users downloading (not selling or profiting) torrents. While fines have been issued, it's very few and it's most definitely not $117,000 for downloading your favourite episode of America's Next Top Model!!

        • I am less concerned about my privacy with them than the data I willingly hand over to OzBargain.

You don’t send all your traffic to OzBargain like you do with a VPN provider 🤦‍♂️

      1) yep
      2) i answered that above your.
      3) so?
      4) so?

They added "Double VPN" servers for stronger and double encryption.

    Also absolutely nonsense marketing rubbish

    • I’m going to start a provider with Triple VPN. I’ll show them.

      • Quad VPN. Just sounds better.
