[eBay Plus] Gigabyte RTX 4090 GAMING OC Graphics Card $2564.05 Delivered + Free Game Redfall (RRP $120) @ Computer Alliance eBay

1010
PLUSAPR1

I'm so sour, and I'm so sad.

I bought a brand new 4090 Gaming OC for $2500 about 2 weeks ago off someone on eBay who didn't have a receipt/invoice for me, and I can't even redeem the game RedFall for free because Gigabyte rejected me on their website saying that I don't have a tax invoice.

Computer Alliance's deal is just like a loud slap on my face, mocking me for my impatience and my bad luck. I don't even get the Gigabyte near non-existent warranty since I bought it off someone on eBay, rather than off a store.

But, there you go. This is my gift to you. Buy it now. You don't get it much cheaper than that.

$2564 - $120 = $2444

Don't ever say to me that "why didn't you post it then?", I said to you "it wasn't a deal, why would I post it?". Now this is a deal finally. You know who I'm talking about here.

What a slap to my face! Why did you do dis to me, Computer Alliance…

id pull the trigger at 2k even that is too much

    • +2

I would pull the trigger for 2K only if it happens within the next 6 months, not if it happens near 5090 launch. Also leaks suggest 5090 to be way faster than 4090 with complete rehaul of the existing architecture with much better RT performance on 3nm process reaching clocks of 3GHz+

      • +13

        sounds like a 3.5K+ card

        • -1

I doubt if the 90 series card increases much, its the 80 and below series that got screwed up. This gen 90 Series is made to look like better performer for the money. I believe they would do the same with 5090 to increase sales of 90 series over 80 series.

      • +5

Yeah but the 6090 is on 1nm and can reach 4ghz and is coming out right after the 5090

        • +1

Even if that was true, my point was not to pay full price just before the next big release.

          • @John Doh: 4000 cards literally just came out anyway I don't think 5080 will be out till at least Q3 2024,

            May 2016 - gtx 1080
            Sept 2018 - gtx 2080
            Sept 2020 - rtx 3080
            Nov 2022 - rtx 4080

Anyway you get the point - no point updating if you have a high end 3000 series. Since games are now multiplatform for the most part and will be optimized for things like a steam deck a high end GPU will last you much longer than one did back in the early 2000s.

        • +4

and the 7090 is coming out after that, which precedes the 8090, but IM waiting for the 9090

        • Yeah but what's the point? To slap 4k/raytracing over shitty 10yr old cartoony graphics?

May as well hodl to UE5 anyway. Hilarious people spend thousands to play dota/minecraft/control/2077/Harry Potty Legacy rtx. I mean you're spending all that money for better graphics and the graphics are still shit. Just teenagers/zoomers looking to glorify stupid tech every new gen and waste their money.

      • +1

That's just obvious though! There's always going to be something better to launch

      • Once that happen I guess nVidia will release 4090Ti to tackle that.

    • +1

I increasingly need 24gb for work, and for some reason all the 3090 deals disappeared from ebay a week back when I finally decided to buy. These price are brutal.

      • +2

I got a used 3090 from ebay a week ago for $1000. Seems like a decent price.

        • Yeah that's what they were going for for weeks, really well documented listings from well trusted sellers. Now they seem to have all disappeared right after I bid on my first one, and there's just a few dodgy looking ones for higher prices. :/

        • If u don't mind the extra power draw (u can always use power limiter if u do mind), get the 3090 ti. All 3090s have high mem temp because half of the mem modules are not actively cooled. I have a fan and bunch of heat sink on the back plate of 3090, just to cool the mem module.

          • @s20525xxx: I haven't experienced super high memory temps on my 3090. My memory temps are hovering around 80-90 degrees under load, with the Gigabyte Eagle 3090. The memory has been overclocked using Afterburner (+900 MHz) and I've also limited the power of the card to around 200W (Undervolted, 1515MHz@725mV). But I wouldn't get a 3090ti as it's so much harder to find used and not worth the extra money over a regular 3090.

            • @AwesomeAndrew: Mine ran in that range too, but it is still ~20 degree higher than core temp. With custom active cooling, repasting and repadding that went down by 15 degree.

    • +5

imo, this only makes sense if
      1. you're using this for work, or this somehow directly pays for itself (and more)
      2. you are so rich that you don't care if it's $2000 or $5000.

      • -3

3 if you are dumb and want to show off that you got a 4090. (still makes sense for the dumb person ;))
4 if you really care about gaming and its what you enjoy the most (Priorities)

        • +7

Would be point 4 for me, and nothing wrong with that.

Other people have spent a lot more on other hobbies.

Better than gambling away tens of thousands dollars away.

          • +2

@edfoo: No doubts mate, dont ask me how much I have poured on Aero modelling. If you look at the price of each quality component, you will start feeling computer gaming is cheap despite the higher GPU costs nowadays. A simple Align TREX 3D helicopter would set you north of a 1500$ and all it takes is a crash and its all in the air.

            • +1

@John Doh: I know what you mean. I have been flying DJI drone (not much now a day), they are not cheap.

              • +4

@edfoo: No Mate, 2 different beasts. DJI has stabilization built in. That is if you remove your thumbs of the stick it will stay there. Most 3D Helicopeter have 0 stabilization, If you remove the thumbs off the stick or miss the orientation for a second, you are looking at a 1500 Loss right away, irrepairable in many cases. Imagine trying to balance a 5 feet tall stick at the tip of your index finger. If the stick falls, you lose the Heli and if it falls on property, a 550 to 600 size helicopter can easily slice the metal door of your car. 700 and 800 size can be more dangeroud. Google "Tarek Alzadi and Trex 700 or goblin". You will understand what I mean. And dont get me started with the 35CC petrol powered planes I had.

Most of us train on a simulator like RealFlight for hours. You will be surprised if you try a sim, you wont be able to just get a helicopter in the air and keep it there for a few seconds before you crash. These sims have saved us 1000s of $

        • +3

lol look at the stupid zoomers downvoting you, thinking they know better.

When they eventually move out from their parents video games won't be their life. A bunch of electrons flipping bits in a piece of sand is just that, rather pointless and a poor use of time.

          • @JimmyNegger: True, also at the rate at which AI and openAI is evolving, many people wont even have job opportunities in the coming years. I feel scared that it might happen this decade itself (touchwood it does not).

  • +23

Since when is a game $120

    • +13

Not too mention redfall will be on xbgame pass

    • +3

I am so mad Diablo 4 costs 110. I'm not buying out of principle.

      • +2

Damn, pity I won't see you in game with my new 4090.

      • If you spend over $300 in a gpu then why not? Infwation isn't exclusive to gpu's.

If people pay $1100 for $300 gpu's then why aren't people paying $400 for $100 games?

  • +14

Can't keep lining Jensen's leather jacket pockets.

Oh, I clicked on this, thinking it was a full PC for that price. Now i'm disappointed it's just the card…

havent seen many pc deals recently :(

Your testicles are so large, they have their own lunar system

  • +7

won't this game be on Game Pass? why the hell would you buy it day 1, especially with game quality these days

    • +1

Not everyone has game pass. It's a freebie. At least you'll actually get it lol, I waitlisted for my 3080 so long that when it finally arrived, the redemption period for Watchdogs Legion was over and the new giveaway for Call of Duty: Blah, and I couldn't even redeem that cause I'd bought my card outside the period for that promo.

    • +1

are you gonna act like reddit and pretend every game sucks other than 12-25 year old games?

      • not really, but recent launches have been especially horrible in regards to performance. tlou1, hogwarts, dead space, and to a lesser extent re4 all came out with abysmal performance day one. you can brute-force that with a 4090, but you shouldn't need to lol

  • +13

costs more than my entire pc + my bicycle + lots of chocolate pudding (i love me some chocolate pudding)

  • +4

Did the maths using Hardware Unboxed's numbers, a 6950 XT at $1099 is about $13.08 per frame (84 fps), so to match that level of value this card would need to be $1857.83 (142 fps).

I think I second the $2k trigger on this, it's just not quite there, at $2k that'd be good enough, still a premium but not this much.

    • +5

The 7900 XTX is currently 1649, which which gives it a price per 4k frame of $11.61 Insane comparative value.

This 4090 coming in at $14.49 price per 4k frame.

But there is nothing else at the top.

Where are you getting your numbers from? I've got 105 and 177 for the 6950 XT and 4090 respectively.

      • +3

Yeah it must be a different HUB review, I can't remember which one now, but I made the calculation in December so probably for the 7900 XTX or XT review.

      • the 4070 Ti review, that's why

        </tbody>
        </table>

    • What if you include all the trickz like dlss and frame gen?
To be fair, wouldn't the purpose of getting such a mad card be to play the top games that also happen to support those features? It's "real fps" but I'm sure it counts for something and partly why these cards are so expensive.

    • But Nvidia adds another $1000 to the price for better ray-tracing performance…

      • Plus CUDA support for professional use.

  • Why is the 4090 prices keep falling these days?

    • +5

It was priced skyhigh at release since there were some people who'd buy at any price, and there'd been such a shortage of cards for so long with crypto that people were desperate and paying huge prices, which they hoped to catch the tail-end of.

    • +3

Prices of any items usually drop as they get older…?

    • +2

This is fallen? Still seems crazy high. I'm wondering why it hasn't fallen further.

      • +2

Nvidia shareholders don't want the price to fall further too soon.

        • +1

The prices are also possibly forecast to reduce exactly as they're doing. We think Nvidia are hurting but this was always the plan, prices on 40 series slowly reduced as 30 series disappear. The interesting thing to know is how far Nvidia will allow them to fall, some are thinking about $2K
Retailers aren't selling at losses, they're getting rebates, when rebate credits stop, price reductions stop

          • @bobvegas: i don't disagree mate, but is there evidence showing that retailers get rebate from nvidia? just curious that's all

  • Ugly skew

  • +10

If it makes you feel better Redfall will be in the bargain bin after 1 month

  • +2

    $2444
i will pull the trigger if they give me $120 cash back instead of Redfall,

  • +6

lmao gpu market still trying to catch up to crypto bull run that has long ended, these guys are so clueless about halvings. just wait till late 2024 or early 2025 for the next run.

    • NVidia may be hoping ChatGPT and similar would replace crypto, they are selling their chips for ML tasks / data centers for significantly more than the price of 4090.

  • +1

Damn just brought the 4090 ventus for $2765 at PLE but I do get redfall.

  • -3

This comment and now this post, makes sense

    • +3

Now I show you what a good deal is. You are welcome!

Upvote for your sadness. Sharing your pain, my guy. :(

    • +1

Cheers for the thoughts and emotional support!

  • Someone help me get this down by like 1% and I will buy it instantly. Even by $1

(and I don't mean by selling the game)

Buy $1250 worth of MasterCard giftcards, then again with another flybuys card, do split payments and save about 7.59% ($194).

      • +1

Thank you for replying to me right before it became out of stock. You saved me $2360.

        • That's alright, my maths was all wrong anyway, it was only a $187 saving (~7.3% off)

  • +4

Prices like this are why I think I'm fully finished with current gen gaming. My 1070 is still a work horse and holds up fairly well and looks like will have to for a few more years. I won't buy another card after my current one. These prices are insane and my money is better spent elsewhere in this new hyperinflated world we seem to be embracing. Sucks but oh well it is what it is.

    • These cards are aimed at people who want to play with all the RT settings on at 4k I think. Your average gamer on a 1080 or 1440 monitor doesn't need this at all.

Still, I guess if I had so much money that I didn't know what to do with it, I might grab one. But then, I probably wouldn't be hanging around on OzB for it to drop in price either.

      • I'm still ranking near the top of the competitive online game I play with my GTX 1080 that keeps on truckin.

If people want to spend $3000 so their single player game looks a bit nicer, or the game looks a bit prettier when they are getting owned online, good for them.

    • +1

Don't know what games you are playing but my previous GTX1070 just couldn't handle many of the games I have played in the past 12 months. The RTX3080 did any awesome job instead :)

    • Why upgrade? 1070 still plays literally every game.

Having very high FPS and max settings and 4k all at the same time is nice, but not life-changing. If you really want any one of those three, you can still have it with a 1070 (two in some games. All three in CS GO).

And we'll have them soon enough, it's not like you can't just wait until GPU prices aren't insane.

  • +2

I bought the Gaming OC for 2500 from FB Marketplace with no receipt if that makes you feel better.

    • +2

Thanks mate, same boat, I do feel your support <3

    • If you learned your lesson, that's something, at least.

    • +1

Maybe you try a mock RMA to Gigabyte, go through the process, see if they allow it, then explain problem went away.
I had heard with gigabyte you do have warranty without a receipt but it's based on manufacture date, not date of purchase. Even so that should mean 2+ years warranty left

  • -2

Will replace my 6800 purchased $699 6 months ago, when there is new GPU selling for similar price but 2-3 times the performance. If it never happen, so be it.

    • +1

"new","similar price" and "2-3 times the performance" -> choose any 2 out of 3 and you can get one right now. If you strictly want all 3 then it's possible if you can wait for 2-3 generations, I guess a rx 8700/9600 will satisfy all of that. But at that time game will demand much more on gpu as well, so it's a loop.

      • It’s fine, I use iPhone 8 until 2021. Just don’t feel like upgrade frequently with these price.

        • What does iPhone has to do with PC graphics card here?

          • @edfoo: If I can use a smart phone for 4-5 years, why not GPU? I am not a kid that want a toy so badly that I have to get it regardless the price.

            • @stevelo: Not everyone is using their smartphones the same way as using the GPU. Can't really compared different products. If you want to you might as well compared how long you can own a car, or a home.

              • @edfoo: You don’t have to upgrade your smartphone or GPU every 4-5 years or even longer like me,. To me, GPU and new smartphones are toys, I am not paying stupid prices for toys. If you are happy to pay for GPU today price, I am sure they are happier to charge you more next gen.

    • +2

Looks like you'll be upgrading in about 9 years time. Thanks for sharing.

      • If that’s the way GPU going to be priced, 9 years or just quit gaming. I believe people will pay 4K for 5090 or 5k for 6090, not me.

  • i did the same thing but with a gigabyte 4070ti ~$1150

now i cant get redfall :(

  • -1

How broke are you people when a small amount of money dictates your purchase on the highest model gpu, let alone those saying wait 2 more years.

    • +3

that is what rich people say

    • +1

It's not about being broke when you can spend $2k plus on a comp part. Everyone weighs up things differently and have different influences etc for the decision.

    • +1

Priorities mate. It's like, do I purchase this high model gpu for a short-term dopamine hit or do I save it for 10 1hour therapy sessions that could help me live out a happier life. Ya know?

    • +2

I agree insofar as apart from the sensible comments to your response here most seem to be screaming "only if you're rich".

Noone needs to be "rich" to buy this, you only really need income. Priorities is an appropriate argument against. I still think as far as hobbies go given the vast number of hours many spend on their PCs I could make an argument this is a lot cheaper than a good number of hobbies/sports. I used to cycle relatively seriously and PC parts are still peanuts compared to that!

      • +2

Precisely. In the process of upgrading my old PC, over 5 years of service for both work and entertainment, 4000+ hours of usage.
That expense, if considered as something to serve for the next few years, is not that significant at all.
From that perspective, it doesn't compare to any other luxury item spending like hand bags or shoes.

    • +1

It's not that we can't afford to pay stupid prices for nice-but-subtle gains.

It's that we've been around long enough to know that the prices really are very stupid, and we've seen that the more people pay them, the stupider they get.

  • +6

In spite of what the pathological HODL-ers will say, that is an extremely interesting price for a properly bananas bit of kit.

4080 owners are gonna be very upset, though, or at least they would be if they could read.
