Only if it arrives before easter.

    What micron will it filter?

I really dislike how Dolphin releases dozens of different models, some in-store only, some online only with many simply re-brandings of other models. Makes it impossible to compare what's what.

Agreed Subada. I'm on the hunt for one at the moment and its impossible to find reviews given how many models they have. Having said that does anyone have the Eclipse XL and can provide feedback?

      • I'm in the same boat. How is the XLR $500 better? How do either compare to the Swash line? Other than colour they look identical. How do they compare to the Dolphin s100 which is a completely different design but around the same price? Does it need a fine filter to clean properly (like the apparently Dolphin does)? I don't expect you to know the answers to these questions just sharing in your frustration!

There's a few differences between Eclipse models and also other models I can identify based on my prior research but still don't have enough info to pull the trigger.

          XL vs XLR

          • XLR has the $340 caddy included (useful for storage and moving the cleaner around, not useful if you leave the cleaner in the pool but this isn't recommended anyway)
          • XLR has dual brushes which allows it to steer itself better than the XL aka Dual-Drive motor (useful if you have unusual pool geometry)
          • XLR has programmable timer (only useful if you leave the cleaner in the pool but again this will reduce longevity of the cleaner)
          • There may be differences in pump speed / motor power but I can't tell from the info I've seen online.

Swash vs Eclipse I'd say they're probably just rebranded versions of the same thing but I can't say for sure

          Eclipse vs S100 and S-line

          • Both eclipses have waterline scrubbing while the S100 does not, considering the waterline is often the dirtiest part of the pool this makes the eclipse superior to the S-100. S-200 and above have waterline scrubbing.
          • S200 and above have a basket filter with fine and ultra-fine options. The basket is high capacity (good for pools with lots of leaves) and easy to clean. The ultra-fine filter helps reduce dust. No pool robot filter I've seen will match your pool's filter in terms of removal of particles around 20 microns however so for algae removal you'll still need to occasionally manually vacuum.
          • The Eclipse has a "net with cartridge" which includes a bag. The bag will probably hold even more leaves however is harder to clean as you need to flip the robot upside down to get the bags or cartridges out. I emailed support to ask about what level of filtration the cartridge provides and if they're included as they're listed as "optional" in the manual.
          • The lower level S-series have only one brush while the Eclipse have two brushes (more effective scrubbing)
          • higher level S-series have wifi/bluetooth connectivity (probably only useful if you leave it in the pool).

For me the question is really the M400 vs the Eclipse XLR. The M400 has 3 brushes, probably a more powerful motor, top loaded cartridges that are easier to clean than the the Eclipse (lower capacity but my pool doesn't get leaves). It's also got a 36 month warranty vs the 24 month for eclipse and is available at physical stores so the warranty process will be cheaper / easier. At typical RRP the M400 wins hands down but the Eclipse being $1000 cheaper on sale is giving me angst. If the Eclipse XL or XLR has ultra-fine filters I'd go for it.

          • @Subada: That's very informative - thank you! Based off that, I'd likely buy an XL or XLR at this price if it includes the ultra-fine filter too.

            • @Evil-Elmo: Hey mate, just got off the phone with their customer service. The ultrafine cartridge filters aren't included however can be ordered specially from pool shops or as part of your online order. Note these parts do not show up on their website.

Ask for the ultra-fine filter cartridge. The part number (for the XLR model) is 9991425-ASSY and the RRP is $131 inc. GST. I'd imagine it'd be a similar price for the XL.

After ordering online the email should include a contact for customer service. You need to contact them and request they add the cartridge to your order. Seems annoying but w/e. Best of luck if you choose to buy.

Hi, how does Eclipse compare with the M and S lines? I couldn't see it on the comparison table on the website. Thank you.

Hi rep, seems like a good deal. As others have asked could you please provide more info about the filter? The website says "Cartridge with net filter" for the XLR, does the cartridge include fine and ultra-fine filters like the M line cleaners? Or can these be purchased separately?

    • +2

Called them and they said the XLR only comes with the bag but you can buy the cartridge separately.

      • What's the micron of the bag, fine cartridge, and ultra-fine cartridge?

Would love a deal on dolphin-m-600
