Was looking at current Sony price drop on last years X90K series. Was about to purchase from TGG ebay store with $120 coupon, but found it to be cheaper to buy from Sony direct with 10% cashrewards which will expire in 2 days as Sony currently providing free shipping for orders over $200.

Not sure whether the current price drop at Sony is permanent or temporary as still see some other places selling for higher.

    • Yes, this is what I’m waiting for.

    • X90L is around the corner and it looks physically a lot better with a metal rim and improvements to quality, I would skip X90K.

And if previous years' pricing patterns are maintained the X90L will be closer to $3k when released. Then you'll have to wait another year when the new an improved X90M is released. Rinse, repeat…

  • Looks like the prices are back up and was not a permanent drop.

  • I bought this a few days ago. External inputs works fine. However, builtin google tv is not very good conpared to an external google tv with chromecast. Somehow, the builtin google tv app is less bright and more dull. Apparently, it was a common issue for x90j. I wish I hadn't purchased it now. Still considering to return it. https://us.community.sony.com/s/question/0D54O00007JAQCvSAP/…

Damn. Will they take it back for just this issue ? I doubt

Also how did you get it so fast ! My still not dispatched:(

      • +1

I got it from good guys at 1326 dollar. They delivered in the next available business day. I have decided to keep it as the hardware is pretty good. The app may have some issue which I am still testing. The conent seems fine now even though the menue and the text are not very sharp like external google tv. btw, yes, you can return it just because of change of mind or if you dont like the quality. Typically they dont let you test the tv in the store.

    • Mine's still sitting in it's box.

May I ask, this dullness you mention, it's just in the app? What about if you start a youtube video or a netflix stream? Is still dull vs chromecast dongle?

      • I guess the stream looks pretty close. However, the text of the youtube menue has also issue compared to the dongle. I have also noticed a major difference when you cast from your phone to the tv vs external google tv.

        • Thanks for the replies. I've finally gotten mine set-up and maybe it's because my eyes aren't what they used to be, but things seem to be working the way they should. 🤷‍♂️

          • @tebbybabes: did you compare with an external google tv? 🤔 if yes, and if its the same, then I might get the faulty one, who knows. Older sony looks fine to me.

            • @biborno: Uhm, yes, actually. The difference is, I'm comparing it on two different TVs and in two different rooms and different lighting conditions. so that could be a factor.

I haven't actually mustered up the effort to reach behind the TV again and rework the cable management to plug in an external chromecast just to check. I'll be honest though, that's what I was planning to do when I remembered your post… then I sat down, cracked open a beer and looked at the google TV smart menu and decided that it looked good enough.

And finally, with regards, to casting from the phone to an external chromecast vs casting to the built-in google TV - in my case, I was actually moving between rooms and wanted to continue a stream I was watching. So in this case, I was alert and paying attention, the quality was pretty much spot on - again with the same caveat that it was 2 different TVs in different rooms and different lighting conditions.

This is just my anecdotal experience. Crossing my fingers for you on your end.

              • +1

@tebbybabes: tested the tv for 4k casting from a phone. External google tv looks clearly better than the builtin one. As long as you are happy with the quality of the picture, its good enough.

  • Anyone get their tv yet . I should have listened to the warning damn

Still waiting for mine but look like some other have received theirs.

My tracking says estimated date of delivery is tomorrow. But my tracking is a bit funny. It says in transit but last description has it ready for collection. Hopefully it has been picked up and not still sitting at Sony warehouse.

      • The excitement has died down should have price matched at JB got it in 2 days. Never again from Sony Lol
Mine still not picked from warehouse

        • +1

My relative for Good Guys to match the pricing and got the tv delivered in 2 says..

        • +1

Yeah I got feeling mine still at the warehouse as there’s no actual dispatch date. Anyway just emailed both DHL and Sony.

          • @j1568: Yeah will do that today

            • +1

@life is suffering: I called Sony and they can't confirm on the phone whether it is still at their warehouse or have already been dispatched. Reason being is that DHL sometimes collect a few items to bring it to a Depot and so they may not be scanned when it was pick up from them but may be updated once it reach their depot. I'll give it another week to see whether the tracking updates.

              • @j1568: Wow you are very patient ! I will call today and check what's going on. Thanks

                • +1

@life is suffering: I don’t think the tracking they provide is accurate. Been trying to get some info from DHL with no luck and then i get a call today to arrange time for them to deliver next week as they need to make sure someone is at home.

                  • @j1568: I was just going to reply as well bro.

I was told DHL first then STartrack and both haven't updated since 12th when order was generated.

I called Sony today and they said parcel is in Melbourne which is good but don't know when it will be coming ( What a mess)

The consultant said he will escalate and send it within a day or two.

The whiskey I purchased for 100 has better tracking. What a shit show from Sony.

                  • @j1568: Glad you got a call !

      • Thanks for the update man

  • +1

Just sharing that ordered mine on the 9th and it arrived on the 14th

    • Fast !

      • Aye, looks like I was massively lucky. Anyway, the TV is set-up and working, and I've been very satisfied.

        • Awesome to hear ! How's your room lit ? Are there much reflections

          • +1

@life is suffering: That particular TV is in a room that is usually darkened. When the downlights are on. There are certainly annoying reflections. - in this case, I'm attributing it to the angle of where I'm sitting (because the TV is placed quite a bit higher that my eyes) In terms of handling reflections in the same plane, like windows and open doors, honestly, it's better than my last TV in the same space, a hisense P7, which was totally usable anyway.

            • @tebbybabes: Makes sense. I guess the alternative is to sit in a dark room.

Thats a big upgrade ! Enjoy

Received mine today. I need a gf to unpack. Thats will take time

    • +1

Great to hear. Got mine on Wednesday.

      • Enjoying it ?

        • +1

Haven’t spent much time calibrating it yet but definitely enjoying the larger size as my previous TV was only 55”.

Hope you are enjoying yours as well.

          • @j1568: I need help to setup it up actually 😂can't do it alone. Waiting ona family member.

  • Is the JB extra care worth it when buying the Bravia TV? Any personal experience?
