That looks like a good deal. Recommend to pair with:
    dual mounting bracket: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09JZ6BBH3? and
    solar panel: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/384525377511

Mine sit on full power so I'm not expecting to ever have to charge them again.

This Amazon Dual Mount looks useful

    • Have heard you have to be careful with those panels as they can kill the batteries I don't recommend them based on these reports! Retrospectively I will report back in another 6 months because I'm using them!

      • +3

Have had this same panel running for 6 months without issue, you do need to make sure you go into the camera into the app and change it's power source from battery to solar panel. The people I've seen that have had batteries killed had not done this.

      • I’ve had one of mine hooked up to a panel for just under 12 months, no issues.

    • Are these the one that holding down on a button erases all data?

      • I dunno

        just meant
        most homes with outdoor cameras
        you see bullet style cameras
or the ones that can rotate..

    • Lol

does not look suitable for outdoors
so less useful for most people

Are you pondering what I’m pondering? I think so - this comment is more pinky less brain

So am I right that all these wireless systems seem to suffer from delays between detection & when it starts recording? Is there a system someones using where you are happy with the detection & notifications that you'd recommend?

    • Yeah they are slow to startup. Best fast start ive seen is Blink. But batteries are expensive and no more free storage.

    • +6

Might sound silly but I've been using spare mobile phones and tablets with the Alfred app for the past several years. I'm constantly being impressed by what the app can do and you can get creative where to place devices. People even rig them up to flood lights with boom speakers outside. It has just received an update where it records 24/7 (only restricted to memory of device) and when an event is triggered it shows you the few seconds before the trigger. Plus, it is free.

I've also used an older model of this little cam which has been amazing. I have it set under my carport on the wall for the last few years. Reliable and night vision is excellent. It alerted me and provided footage of an intruder recently. Notification of detection to viewing capture on my phone was quick. I was able to race outside and scare him off within a minute of the bloke being there (well, the security light pretty much scared him away first). Sent footage to police. 40 bucks well spent. I would be interested to see how its dedicated outdoor cameras work given this is really an indoor camera.

      • How frequently do you need to charge those phones/tablets? Or are they always plugged into a power a source?

Do you have a link or specific words i can google to read more about it?

        • Older devices naturally have a degraded battery and must be plugged into a power source constantly. However, I've had not so new phones running Alfred for a few hours just on their own battery supply.

Check out the links in my original post.

Price beat with bunnings. I just did and final price is ~525

    • Did you negotiate in person or online? that's very bargain

      • +1

I just walked into my local just before and got them to price match $524.88. They first said SCA was club price but I told them others are managing to get it price matched and no more questions asked.

    • how to do so?

    • I did the same, took a little bit of time but got there in the end. No negotiation just getting person with the power to authorise the price match since it was more than $200 difference

  • How good are these compared to Arlo Pro 2?

Also do these lag with the video capture?

    • +2

Nowhere near as good. I've used both. Ended up going the cheaper option i.e. Eufy because there's no monthly subscription fees like Arlo but the detection range is like a third or half of the Arlo cameras.
At best Eufy picks up motion circa 3m. Arlo is at least double the range. Arlo also differentiates between car, human, animal. Eufy supposedly has something like that but every motion just comes out as "human" even when it's my little poodle running around in the backyard.
The voice system/speaker is also much worse than the Arlo. Skips a lot and makes it hard to hear especially at the start.
Arlo also has a feature that lets your record the 10s or 5s before motion is detected. Eufy doesn't to my knowledge.
The video quality on the 2Cs (1080p) is enough and not bad but bottom line is: Arlo is a MUCH better system if you can afford their monthly subscription fees.

Isn’t this a better deal? I think eBay plus got further discount of $5 which makes it $85 each? And they are solar panel compatible

    • But they don't come with a homebase like OP's deal, though I guess it's not needed if local storage is micro SD card. I always thought eufy cams and software UI were better than Reolink but I don't know

      • +1

I like reolink’s app way more easier to use and this camera doesn’t need a base to operate as well. Therefore no station is needed and u can store video straight onto sd card or use the free 7 days cloud storage option.

        • How long does your battery last, and does it record on a loop 24/7, or only records when it detects movement?

          • +1

@x x: Battery camera are not meant to be used 24/7 recording, they are designed for convenience of location and only record with motion detection recording. My one was set at front door mostly recording posties and it can last around 2-3 month depends on how much motions it triggers.

            • @kishimind: Thanks, i just ordered 2x cameras with solar panels and 1x camera only. Hopefully there's no issues having multiple cameras with the app

Just remember to check settings or block via pihole/adblocker before connecting to the internet /wifi

I feel like there should be an actual punishment for morons that down vote people providing actual beneficial information..

thugmander91 do you roll out of bed in the morning thinking hey I'm gonna be a moron on the Internet and waste my own time and others?

      • actual beneficial information

What information? If you mean the comment about piholes and adblockers, that is not good information. The link provided mentions nothing about piholes, aholes or adblockers…. because they have nothing to do with anything.

The issue with Eufy thumbnails uploaded to Amazon cloud services was blown out of proportion. That said, it's good to keep the pressure on tech companies about privacy.

        • -1

I'm referring to the link obviously….. And yeah it is beneficial information not all of us want to be sheep

    • +2

I've got a few Eufy camera and while they are fantastic, I've been very disappointed with Anker's response to the several privacy and security flaws they've had.

It took them years to fix the sync button security flaw, and they still haven't made it clear which devices they have and haven't fixed.

Their response to this and the deception around the lack of encryption has been appalling.

      • +1

Anker may not have a choice as a China-based company. The CCP is a very vicious regime.

National Intelligence Law of China dictates all company or individuals must cooperate in terms of gathering intelligence.

Article 7: All organizations and citizens shall support, assist, and cooperate with national intelligence efforts in accordance with law, and shall protect national intelligence work secrets they are aware of.

  • I remember getting this set for like $350 from SCA, great deal and great product for the price..

    • $460 for me. Dividends in parcels safety.

      • How did you get $460, and what's dividends in parcels safety mean
