From Amazon US, hopefully they pack them really well.

    • That’s what warranty is for

    • +5

No, they don't pack them with anything, they just put it in a box without any protection. 😉

      • I brought a wd gold from Amazon US and it at least had some foam mount packaging in it. No issues with the HDD so far.

      • Inside a box inside another box.

Was there a spinning top in there as well? Was it still spinning?

You were lucky To Get A Box I ordered 4 2 Came In A Plastic Bag With No Bubble Wrap & The Other 2 Came In Separate Plastic Bags Again No Bubble Wrap, Sent Them All Streigt Back To America.

        • +5

Think you should send your keyboard back too, it's broken

    • I find the stuff from the diskmonger down the road to be much fresher, and less handling than the stuff you get from overseas.

      Buy local.

      • Buy local and pay 3 times as much!

Compare to the Red Plus with a 5600 RPM speed on RAID 0 will this drive make a difference running on 7200 RPM?

      • +3

Maybe they're tired of people using Ozbargain as a search engine (I didn't neg you)

      • +1

It's difficult to understand what you're asking tbh. Will it make a difference to what?

        • yeah to the transfer speed.

      • kids on diapers?

      • Nothing wrong with the question, but your comment might be seen as disrespectful to some.. just thought I make that observation.

It's probably an ebay plus thing ($25 off) and therefore limited to one, this one comes down to about $230 local stock https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185638660368 (so a ~$13 diff)

  • Thanks OP, Needed 2 for an upgrade to my NAS, Stacked with both the 5% off for 2 purchases and the Mastercard $15 gift recently, so less than $200 each.

    • It is not working for me when I added two items to the cart for the 5% off discount. It simply didn't apply any discount at all. I was wondering how did you git it to work.

      • The 5% off showed basicly at the page just before payment.

Just going to mention here, my new 16tb ironwolf died last week after 4 days use. I contacted Seagate who would not help with a warranty claim because the drive was in a pc (not a nas). Resellers may handle warranty claims differently (I'm looking into this with original supplier). Pretty annoyed. On the website it lists compatible devices. If yr intended device is not in the list, you may run into issues.

    • That's so unfortunate!

    • Ah that sucks. Would expect better product and service from a reputable brand.

    • +9

That sounds nuts (and wrong), normally you just enter your SN in their RMA form, and then ship it to where you are directed to via the RMA process.
4 days is nearly a DOA and should be replaced.
Also a PC can be a NAS.

    • i've been through a couple of seagate warranties - where do they ask what device you had it in?

      • Phoned them. Pretty soon in the process. Came up because their diagnostic software only runs on nas. When I told them it was a z2 game over

    • Wow, I've never seen such a compelling reason to not buy something as this

    • Have you tried going back to where you bought it from?

    • +1

I thought the NAS would run a disc harder than the PC?, isn't that the theory of NAS DRIVES cost more?

    • +1

100% worth while going through ACCC if they're refusing warranty.

PC can run as a NAS, that's what I'm be doing, old laptop with an external drive bays. Using free nas or something similar.

    • This just put me off

    • Light them up on Twitter… that's bullshit.

Thanks OP! Ordered 2. Hopefully they ship ok

Waiting for 16TB's to come down sub $300, hopefully another GB will come soon!

    • That's a pretty decent deal, for context:

(In order of low to high price)
      2x 16TB is $793.63 ($24.8009375 per GB)
      2x 8TB is $412.68 ($25.7925 per GB)
      1x 16TB is $417.70 ($26.10625 per GB)
      1x 8TB is $217.20 ($27.15 per GB)

So pick depending on what you need. Historically, there's been cheaper offers for the 16TB drive ($402.62 and $381.25) though.

  • FYI. This deal is still live. showing $217.20 each now.

    • +1

      Price now reduced to $213.67.
