  • Shame no Amex deal anymore :(

  • +1

    Here we go again!

    • Any idea what is the price typically?

      • Full price is 500, usual good deal price is 400.

      • +1

I paid 519 a couple of years ago. No regrets after going from an Acer Predator. At this price it's a no brainer.

        • -1

same i bought it at 519 last time too. great monitor.

          • -2

@Very Loki: I bought this monitor and I'm not impressed at all!! Daily usage is fine but as soon as I enter the game (League of legends) it doesn't look good at all ….seems there is a greish layer on the screen and also looks not sharp at all (all video settings are to maximum). Can someone help me ? I don't know if it's just this bad or it's some settings…. I have it connected to my laptop (Intel NuC M15 with i7 1260P) with HDMI port that comes with the monitor itself. Is that normal to
            look that mediocre?

            • @MarioBros: Maybe you got a dud (I don't know), I haven't had issues like that at all. Everything is fantastic quality, sharp, good resolution, vibrant colours, great response times, I've used both HDMI and DP, im currently using DP. Could it be software related like an NVIDIA setting or something?

              • @Very Loki: Don't know how and what I did but it goes and looks much much better now !! Probably some updates?? Haha

  • +11

The warranty on these make it a no brainer purchase.

    • +9

      Please explain

      • +3

If faulty, Dell ship advanced replacement unit of same or better spec. Return label and instructions included on unit.

        • +18

Important to distinguish that this replacement is always a refurbished screen unless it's within the first week, one that's likely been returned for a separate issue

          • +1

@cille745: I'm probably responsible for at least 2 of these refurbs, which I returned in pristine state but returned due to very loud creaking and cracking noises as the monitors cooled after use. The 3rd new monitor I received also had the noise but after that time I was fed up with the process and decided to live with it.

After six months, the noises significantly subsided so it's no longer an issue. Who would have thought?

But I like to think I've put some travel mileage on 2 brand new monitors, but for those received those two as refurbs there were certainly no other issues!

Anyway, Dell needed a bit of proactive and polite haggling on the phone lines but Dell warranty is very good.

            • +2

@huggsymersh: The issue is ones with small issues (like a single dead pixel etc) will go back in "perfect" condition as refurbs, it essentially guaranteees that you'll never get a good one, I ended up getting a refund eventually

        • All Dell monitors or only particular models?

      • +4

Zero worries about any dead pixels or stuck pixels or defects that come in 3 years. One phone call and a new unit arrives in a week and they come collect your old one. The monitor is also fantastic to begin with.

        • Ah really? I thought the terms were you need at least 5 dead pixels or at least 1 which was not changing the brightness? Maybe I should have called!

          • @catbarf: I don't know about your circumstances but this monitor includes 3 years of premium warranty. That's why it's so easy to change until you are satisfied. But in my experiences Dell are eager to give you a solution even on basic warranty.

            • @plmko: Dell warranty is great if you can show the defect clearly.

I had a premium warranty monitor arrive with a smudge under the screen. Against the backlight I could barely get it to show in photographs. Had to fight Dell tooth and nail over a period of weeks before they sent a refurb with scratches on the screen and multiple dead pixels. The replacement was so bad I kept the one with the smudge. It was a long time ago but I think they also removed the possibility of a refund as a condition for sending the replacement, otherwise I would surely have gone with that.

If for whatever reason Dell decides they don't want to acknowledge the problem, they become the absolute shit to deal with. I recognize that you couldn't see the smudge in my photos worth a damn but the rep kept telling me that it was dead pixels AND that it wasn't covered. No idiot would have concluded dead pixels from the evidence, nevermind the fact that dead pixels WOULD be covered.

        • Damn, i needed to take my samsung monitor 30 mins away to get it looked at which will take at least a week

    • Usually the warranty is great, but since this model is end of life they refused to replace my faulty one and offered a different model instead (curved VA panel, no thanks)

      • can you asked for the updated model?

        • +1

I did, but they just kept offering inferior models. So I opted for a refund instead.

    • -3

I bought this monitor and I'm not impressed at all!! Daily usage is fine but as soon as I enter the game (League of legends) it doesn't look good at all ….seems there is a greish layer on the screen and also looks not sharp at all (all video settings are to maximum). Also when I set it to HDR mode I cannot really use it at all!! Can't see the writing. I don't understand much about monitors. Also …it can only reach 144hz and
not 165 Is it normal? Can someone help me ? I don't know if it's just this bad or it's some settings…. I have it connected to my laptop (Intel NuC M15 with i7 1260P) with HDMI port that comes with the monitor itself. Is that normal to
      look that mediocre?

Ps. Contacted Dell assistance and they said basically if the monitor works and there is no clear issues…..they can't do much !!!! Like …WTF !!!

      • Damn thats not good.
        Afaik 144hz if using hdmi.
        165hz if using DP

        • If I use DP monitor won't display anything. I don't understand why. Settings is configured to DP

        • Yesterday upon checking some settings I don't know what happened but something has happened (maybe drivers update?) And now the monitor looks indeed much better. :) I'm happy right now 😌

  • -1

does it offer split screen naturally?

    • +4

If you mean split two HDMI inputs on the screen then, no. It's frankly not that big a screen size to warrant that functionality anyway

      • no I meant I'm using an 29 LG screen now and when I drag a window to the left or right it automatically splits the screens into half

        • +34

That's a Windows feature, so would work on any monitor

        • You mean Microsoft PowerToys?

          They give you that functionality

          https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/

          • +3

@JPerez: Standard on Windows 11 now, however - not as customisable as PowerToys

        • +2

Dell also have their own display manager which allows you to carve up the screen

        • Also look at downloading Dell Display Manager for a bunch of predetermined screen snapping layouts

  • This looks like a decent purchase!

  • +1

    bought 4 thanks op

    • +51

Hey, mirror image brother from another mother.

      • +3

Any deals coming up for ultra wide with usb c support ?

  • +1

great monitor tempted to buy another lol

    • same i already have one trying to decide if its a dumb idea to get 2

      • +3

I copped a second of the same monitor - it's definitely really nice to have 2 of the same but I would say it depends on your use case. If you're on your web browser doing some light tasks then it's probably not great

      • +3

I have been using 2 of these monitors side by side for a couple years now. No regrets.

  • +2

No amex deal this time, not as good a deal for some people.

    • People with the Amex offer got it for about $316 if they had access to a student discount code too.

  • +2

Love this monitor. Just be aware for PS5 users, it's not HDMI 2.1 compatible so VRR doesn't work on this monitor. This may change in a future software update.

Some displays are capable of supporting VRR over HDMI 2.0 but I can unfortunately confirm this isn't one of them.

    • +3

This may change in a future software update.

Dell has not released a firmware update for the S2721DGF to consumers, and has previously said they won't be doing so in response to questions around similar monitors from other manufacturers accepting a 4K 2160p signal and downscaling it to the display (useful for if you're using a PS5 or Xbox Series X).

Newer units apparently do come with a newer firmware revision, but the consensus is that the only change appears to be to the out-of-box brightness and therefore power consumption in order to meet some regulation somewhere in the world.

Do not expect any additional features to come to the S2721DGF beyond what it already has. Still very happy with my two, but just keeping expectations in check.

      • +1

You cant just firmware upgrade the hardware from 2.0 to 2.1!

        • +9

Not with that attitude you can't.

      • +3

It's possible Sony will be able to implement VRR on this hardware, seeing as the Series X delivers VRR over HDMI 2.0 without issue.

The software update I was referring to would be on Sony's side, not Dell's.

        • That's fair - the statement was a bit ambiguous so better to clear it up either way I think.

  • +3

good deal. id say these specs seem pretty standard nowadays. don't settle for more around this price range.

    • +9

I never settle for more. If one starts down the path of greed, who knows where it will end?! OzBargain, probably

  • Very good deal. Bargain at this price.

  • Recommend this monitor. Think it's been a year since I've had this monitor. Couple months in when I bought it, noticed dead pixel, contacted them and got a replacement within a week.

    • What was the replacement like? Was it a refurbed unit or were you able to get a new one?

  • +15

If you have a UniDays account, it gets even better.

Combine it with the K-12 discount and you can bring it down to $334.28

    • Won't let me combine it with the K-12 discount for some reason.

      • don't use AUAFFILIATES5 code

    • can you please share a code with me?

  • +1

Damn, just recently bought the Gigabyte IPS QHD 144hz for $399 at Scorptec.

  • +1

Can adults use k-12 coupon code? 😁

    • +4

No only your kid in prep with their own credit card

  • Thanks. Checked yesterday and no stock - glad to pick one up

Fits my need of decent gaming + office:

    https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2721dgf

  • Already have an LG 27GL850. Would i use this as primary or secondary to that?

  • thanks got one

  • Got the s2721qs in a previous deal, if I do no gaming whatsoever, is this good to buy as a second monitor or wait for a 4K one?

    • Life is a game

    • -1

Might feel unatural going between 60hz and 144hz due to mouse speed/lag on the 60hz.

      • Can’t I turn off the 144hz, also using a m2 MacBook Air so not even sure if it outputs 144hz

        • +1

I use this as a main monitor and 60hz monitor to the side, it's fine, it's not unnatural or anything. Go for it.

          • @Phesto: But I do lose the 4K…

            • +2

@eckers19: Imo go for another 4k monitor.

Not sure about macs, but the difference in resolution (yet both monitors are 27") will be annoying if you plan to dual monitor.
Ie. Dragging windows across to the 1440p monitor will make it "magnified".

If you had something like a 27" 1440p and a 24" 1080p it's not too bad as they are similar ppi.

Also on refresh rates, i personally find it a bit jarring even going from 60Hz to 75Hz, but honestly most people don't care/notice.

              • @wwwsam: Alright so will wait for a 4K sale then to

    • I got the s2721qs and this one, this one is my primary as I prefer the fps and the colors also seem better. I use the s2721qs as my secondary.

    • Either get a 4k, a 32 inch, or oled. Half the features in this thing is wasted on your use cases.

  • If you have a current or previous uni email, you can use the K-12 code and unidays code. Brings it down to 334.28.

  • Can someone give me unidays or k-12 code please?

    • +4

There's no verification required for the K-12 code. Just enter your email and a code gets sent to you.

      • +1

        Thanks

      • Thanks 2!

      • To clarify, we just enter our personal email address and then hopefully receive a code?

      • They added verification now :(

        • i can get you a code in like 24 hrs when it resets (as i just gave someone else a code).

      • Hey Charlieeee, any update on the code?

  • +2

irresistible but I'll pass. would be nice to have a gaming monitor but replacing S2722QC I will lose 4k resolution. tempting tho, really good panel

    don't forget AUAFFILIATES5 code

    • That's the one I have too. But I was thinking as getting this as a second monitor to game with 165hz is impressive.

      • you are very right. hardly any space for 2nd monitor on my minimalistic setup

if my PC was my primary gaming setup, I would have jumped right in, was looking at this model on and off for a few months now

but my main gaming setup is HDMI 2.1 gaming TV and Xbox Series X, PC is mostly for work, and occasional gaming on titles that didn't make it to Xbox or I can't be bothered re-purchasing on ms platform

    • +5

I guess technically it is resistible then.

      • irresistible still can be resisted: miracles happen. I mean look at Dan Andrews
