  • Showing as $39.99 and $59.99 then if I enter the code will it be $18 etc?

  • +4

    5 years😎

  • +3

It is a 'lifetime' subscription, however after 5 years the subscription ends and you have to contact Ivacy, not Stacksocial to be re-subscribe for a further 5years.

    • +2

They've happily done that for me previously.

The speeds are ok (not quick, not slow). Very handy as a backup. They're Hong Kong based, which maybe be good/bad.

Interesting countries which aren't in Nord.
      - Brunei
      - China
      - Egypt
      - Hong Kong
      - India
      - Nigeria
      - Oman
      - Panama
      - Russia
      - UAE

        Nigeria

        Your highness

      • They're Hong Kong based, which maybe be good/bad.

Great reference data for the CCP.

        • +2

Yep, but also means it aint 5/7/13/74 eyes.

I reckon most vpn's are owned or pwned by nation state intelligence agencies.

Nice thing about the CCP, they don't seem to care about copyright infringements.

I bought a promotion on stacksocial for purevpn using the same terms. Extending at the 5 year mark was like extracting hen's teeth. I subsequently moved to nordvpn. The purevpn speeds were also pitiful compared to nordvpn but I haven't checked in lately. I don't know if they throttled older customers.

  • how long is a life time??

    • 5 years according to to chat guy at Ivacy but happy to re-subscribe me.

      • +3

How's that a lifetime? Do they hire a hitman to kill you after 5 years?

  • anyone had any experiences with this VPN for VPNing back to Australia ?

    • It'll work. But what are you after it for?

      • Watch Aussie TV! while I travel

        • Kayo doesn't work (vpn detected) ABC , Ch7, 9, 10, SBS seem to work.

          • @M00Cow: @M00Cow: Any idea what providers work for kayo. Will be overseas for a couple of months and would love to watch the AFL via kayo

            • @Belv: Probably Oeck VPN will work, but they're expensive.

But currently none of mine work (lia, nord, ivacy, von unlimited, xvpn).

I just use my router (asus) or nas (Synology & qnap) at home. I just enabled vpn server on them

        • +1

Best option I've found is to host your own VPN server at home and send your traffic through that while travelling.

Probably best to have at least a 50/20 service (if possible) for HD streaming, 25/5 might be a touch slow.

          • @XeKToReX: Is this achievable for the average user?

            • +5

@GregRust: Everyone is an average user at everything until they put in the effort and learn a new skill.

            • +2

@GregRust: Your router might even have a built-in option to allow it.

SOME previous experience in home networking would definitely be handy but may not be required if you find a guide good enough..

            • +1

@GregRust: Yep google router make/model vpn server. If it's supported it's a few minutes. But you'll need a static ip address or setup a ddns service (asus & nas have free ones)

          • @XeKToReX: Agree. Tried Keepsolid recently in Japan, no Sbs or Abc as "detected" a VPN. Wireguard VPN directly to my home router. All good.

            • @Limbot: Keep solid used to be good before. Nothing works now

    • +3

I purchased a HDHomeRun, hook it up to Plex
I can stream Aussie FTA via Plex from anywhere, no VPN required.

      • +2

        name checks out.

I've used it to connect to AU while in Aus, and abroad. All G

I once updated the client, and Windows Defender picked up spyware in the update. I allowed the installation but Defender kept moaning everytime a scan was done. Found some online references to the particular variant, and raised it with Ivacy Support who confirmed there was a problem, yet refused to take down the installation package until the managed to fix it.

From there, they ignore my requests and ended up uninstalling, which ruined my PC (Remote Desktop broke, unusual hangs etc. and bad performance). I think that was very unethical, allowing users to download software knowing that it was hijacked.

Still have a sub, but I will never use it again. Maybe I am just paranoid but these days you need to be picky what you install.

    • I sorta assume everything has been compromised and console myself with the fact i dont do anything interesting that would warrant the feds kicking down my door.

    • No, it's mostly likely not spy/malware it's what they call heuristics. Which is that some of the code has similar characteristics to some mal/spyware, but doesn't mean it is.

The problem is with the AV product, who then demand a ransom fee to look into it and if they decide after more ransome fees are paid & source code handed over and they agree it's not suspicious, they'll update their database to exclude it. I went through the BS with Kaspersky and some internally written 12yo java code which their heuristic scanner after an update claimed it looked suspiciously like a 2yo malware strain.

I've got Malwarebytes blocking PIA on windows every so often because it doesn't trust it. Other AV's are fine.

You should read the Defender message in more depth, rather then just assume the pop up means its dodgey. OTOH it is a VPN company so of course it can be spyware. People who funnel all their traffic through them are stupid. It's like giving all you house & car keys, atm cards, banking internet login details to a random stranger in Kings Cross and thinking they're secure now. But they can help save you money & watch stuff on the cheap.

      • I did I spoke to a Microsoft Support mate I know who confirmed that it was not a false positive - one of the DLLs was known as Spyware.

Ivacy Chat confirmed after a few days that they knew of the problem and that their next release would fix it. I am now talking about 14 months ago. I can find the Chat Transcript if needed.

    • Their software stuffed up on connected when it wasn't connected but saying connected (kill switch should have stopped the internet but didn't) When I told them what happened, they blamed me for not "shutting down the connection"

  • Can this be used for Indian YouTube Premium billing?

    • -5

It’s a VPN. Nothing to do with billing.

      • +1

They are trying to get youtube premium for cheaper via VPN connected to India, pretty relevant.

        • Not at all actually.

Did you not see the “billing” part in their question?

YouTube now only accepts Indian payment methods.

So no, using a VPN won’t magically give you an Indian credit card.

The actual solution is switching to Turkey.

Edit: voted down for pointing out how completely flawed the question was even though I still provided a solution.

          • @PainToad: Funny they accept my 28deg card which I believe is Aussie.

  • +2

lifetime must be the new milking trend.

    • +2

nek minute they go bankrupt and shut down lol

    • Yeah, but you only lose whatever you pay (which is less then a year's worth of VPN subscription without shopback/CR). I've had my lifetime subs with Ivacy for 7yrs (including asking them to roll it over back in '21) so got my $us28 worth so far.

But still the SB/CR deals are even better. But this is a good backup,. especially for using some of the unusual servers.

  • +1

I purchased this 3 years ago. I haven't had issues with it for time times I've needed it. I contacted them when I first got it and they said I can contact livechat to extend it another 5 years when it ends. I guess i'll find out next year if they will honour that!!

  • +1

Does this work for streaming indian/Us services like hotstar, prime video etc?

    • +1

Ya can anyone confirm whether hotstar works with this?

      • +1

Yes. It's working. They have dedicated port for it

    • It works for voot, sonyliv, hotstar with dedicated port and Jio cinema by choosing India while connecting

      • +1

Awesome. Thanks mate. My surfshark 3 year deal ends next month so need a new vpn.

      • It works for all except for Aha.
The only big issue with Ivacy is buffering. Buffers a lot on live tv. Recorded is only as it buffers now and then.

Tried everything, nothing works to change this.
        Anyone has idea's?
I have a Gig fiber connection so it is not an issue.

      • Sorry, but what does hotstar with dedicated port mean?

  • +1

Stating the obvious but StackSocial lifetime deals are not lifetime. I purchased PureVPN lifetime 5+ years ago and they recently would not renew me for another 5 years.

    • I was in the same situation and they explained that some of these companies no longer offer lifetime subscription, which was true when I checked the PureVpn site. They did offer me a lifetime subscription to VPN Unlimited which currently does offer lifetime.

    • I purchased Ivacy from.stacksocial 7yrs ago and they honoured my renewal back in 2021.

    • Contact StackSocial, they will contact PureVPN and you should get renewed.

  • I reckon they’re scams. I’ve got the “lifetime” subscription from a couple years ago here and still have until Apr 2024 but it refuses to connect on all my devices (iphone, ipad, windows pc). Tried to contact support and no response and seen people with similar issues on reddit, when I log out on “free” it works again (with all the server limits and ads). Someone with similar issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/ivacy/comments/10oya7l/half_year_la…

    • Working for me on Sony TV, Google TV, iPad, Android. What's your issue?

I've found support actually quite responsive. When my Google Phone upgraded to.ver 12 a few years ago, the client wouldn't work (the login kept going back to login), so they sent me a beta version to try, which worked.

      • Wont let me connect whilst logged in. But as soon as I logged out, it let me connect using the ?free version. Tried on multiple devices: my windows PC, ipad, and iPhone. I even tried a family member’s android as well doesn’t seem to work. Given that it works after I logged out, they must’ve blocked it on my account but no indication of anything wrong when looking at my profile on their web. I tried raising a ticket but no response.

  • +3

Lifetime prisoners wished they were sentenced by Ivacy ;p

  • Is $5.50 per year for 5 devices still not a great deal? Is there cheaper?

    • I had 3yrs Nord via SB which they paid me ~$5. That was the best deal.

  • +2

Bought 5 device plan but got 10 device plan with port forwarding add-on.

    stacksocial
    ivacy vpn

    • Yes, same here. Even better value then.

  • Cant comment on how secure or how trust worthy it is, but have been using ivacy a long time now, have never missed a beat, always worked always on, their support is super responsive over the chat system, the service just works, speed is ok too, maxed out my 100mbps connection when using the openvpn client on pfsense for a server in europe.

  • If you scroll down to the related products section, there are a bunch of lifetime VPN subscriptions, including FastestVPN: Lifetime Subscription (10 Devices), with more reviews and ratings. Why is Ivacy the best choice among all lifetime VPN subscriptions?

    • I chose Ivacy for using Hotstar. Iprovpn works too. Quick google search has better reviews of Ivacy over iprovpn and fastest vpn.

      • +1

Quick google search has better reviews

Yeah to be fair in the VPN world, that's probably more to do with the marketing team, then the product.

  • Ay idea why it shows "The item in your cart is excluded from coupons" please?

    • You are choosing wrong product. Click on original link from post.

    • It’s saying the same to me though I used the link from this post. Any work around!!

      • This is the link

        • Yes, this is the link.

          • @antman: I still had trouble until I chose the 5 device deal, then I was able to apply the discount code

        • I still have issues applying coupon using this link. It says "Coupons cannot be used with this sale."
Or am I late in redeeming this expired deal?

  • i had IvacyVPN couple days ago via cashrewards and it has 90% cashback.. only pay 12$ for 5 years :D

    • So many people had issue with tracking.

  • Treat it as only a 5 year thing. I bought a lifetime VPN sub from stacksocial before and once the 5 years came along they tried to weasel out of it. Still a good price for 5 years, though.

  • Ivacy is terrible. I signed up to the exact same "lifetime" (spoiler, it isn't) deal with them almost 10 years ago and stopped using them within months. Shocking speed with frequent dropouts. Couldn't even sign in half the time. Avoid them like a plague. Wait for free or 90% off deals from bigger names.

    • Are you really judging them by how they were a DECADE ago????
