  …or you could do what the Ampol attendant suggested to me earlier today:

  1. Purchase an AmpolCash physical gift card at 5% off using an AMEX with the cashback offer.
  2. Use that AmpolCash gift card to then pay for your fuel, making sure you redeem the fuel discount offer.

  They said a couple of people were doing that earlier in the day with their AMEX cards.

  As an aside, if anyone is unsure what the “participating Ampol locations” are, have a look at myToyota’s list of participating locations. As far as I can tell, this is exclusively Ampol Foodary and Ampol Woolworths MetroGo locations.

      Yes, I was referring to the physical gift card deal.

      Now I re-read my comment above, it was phrased very badly!

      The attendant was suggesting I should purchase an AmpolCash gift card at 5% off, and if I had an AMEX card with a cashback offer, I could use that to pay for the AmpolCash gift card and stack the cashback offer with the 5% discount. Does that make more sense?

  Be careful! Many Ampol are actually EG fuels and they don't take any Ampol gift cards or discounts.

    That’s interesting, because I redeemed an AmpolCash physical gift card at an EG Ampol yesterday.

    It is okay to redeem AmpolCash physical gift cards at EG Ampol, but not AmpolCash Digital gift cards (and that is the reason you see signs at EG Ampol fuel bowsers telling you they do not accept AmpolCash Digital gift cards).

    EG Ampol also has ten fuel discount offers, although the only one that works at EG Ampol and (some) regular Ampol locations is the Woolworths fuel discount.

    There are about 540+ EG Ampols around Australia.
    As pointed out by WookieMonster, EG has its own partner discounts (separate from the Ampol partner discounts at the 600+ Ampol owned locations) at the link he provided.

  Has participating stores in Mytoyota app. Scan the QR before filling in case it "doesn't work", eg you got the store owner or their relative….
