  • Does O/W mean one way?

    • Yes

    • +1

That's right! And while I'm at it, I'll mention that 'RT' means round/return trip if you ever see that abbreviation too.

      • TIL OW and RT
        Thanks guys

  • Anyone had issues getting a refund if they cancel your flight last minute?

    • This is why one should always book through airlines official website instead of third parties website when it comes to budget airlines.

    No OOL screw you scoot….

    • I can't find any scheduled flights for OOL for my dates :( Found it odd they suddenly don't fly there during certain months.

      • +1

Scoot are stopping flying to OOL from July 17.

  • How do I find all the dates with the cheap flights? Is there a month calendar view or something?

No more Gold coast to Singapore Flights from mid July scoot sucks

    • If there was enough demand, they wouldn't be cutting flights. Clearly not enough people were buying tickets, hence the route has been dropped.

      • Makes my flights to Cebu a hassle i now have to get a return flight to Sydney to get my Flight to Cebu via Singapore.

        • Ah that sucks :-(

          • @Flying Ace: They are supposedly putting more flights on to China ********.

            • @paulaus: Chinese tourists are travelling again so Scoot is just going where the money is.

      • If there was enough demand, they wouldn't be cutting flights.

My understanding was the Qld Govt had given some international airlines money as inducement to operate out of OOL. That subsidy may have expired.

There's more money to be made elsewhere. So flights will follow the money. OOL was never a major destination for Scoot & other international flights.

Profits are usually not so much made from locals flying out of OOL, but those flying in - for holidays.
That is not likely as profitable & demand driven market at the moment. Business & migration is - to major cities. There are many beach holiday locations - elsewhere.

Had a Scoot flight out of OOL delayed so many hours. Connecting flight with
passengers from China to meet flight to OOL were more important to bottom line - so plane waited for them & was very late into OOL.
Discount fliers from OOL could be made to wait. That's how it is when you live at the extremity of their network.

Still, used to enjoy relaxing on the beach for my Scoot flights🌴

        • Yeah, so much for this:
          https://www.dtis.qld.gov.au/news/latest-news/articles/2022/j…

I wonder how much taxpayer money we gave them to return for exactly 1 year (must have been the minimum duration to get the funding)!

          • +1

@MrFrugalSpend: That $200M total inducement (to bring flights back to QLD after COVID lockdown) is on top of earlier funding (up to 10 years ago when Scoot first operated from OOL).

QLD has sunk a lot of $ into attracting airlines here. Including local airlines (Compass 1&2, Virgin).
With an economy based a lot on tourism - it is argued we need the flights

            • @INFIDEL: $200m is the whole fund for Queensland, I don't think Scoot got that much….

I have no idea what was actually given - anyone able to shed some light on this?

              • @MrFrugalSpend: Yes - that's the recent inducement total (to bring flights back to QLD after COVID lockdown) - not just for Scoot.

But its only part of the total inducement to airlines to provide flights to QLD & tne Gold Coast over last 10+ years I had mentioned.

        • Thing is I have been doing 4 to 5 trips a year from gold coast to cebu with scoot for many years and the flights from gold coast to Singapore are always full so I don't get it.

          • @paulaus: From a business perspective, a full plane doesn't necessarily mean a profitable route.

Easy to fill a flight with discount fares. I first flew to SIN with Scoot for $99 OW 10 years ago. Think $37 back to OOL was the cheapest price!

Likely makes more sense for Scoot to deploy its limited fleet more frequently to closer more profitable destinations. Aviation operating costs have increased post-COVID.

Australian LCC fliers generally are bargain hunters. Better for Scoot bottom line to move to more & higher paying passengers. (China market has just reopened.)

Scoot still flies to 3 Australian destinations. Am sure they have considered any loss in passenger numbers in their decision. Some inbound passengers will fly with Scoot to those destinations instead.

Withdrawing the route may bring pressure for further QLD Govt inducements💰 OOL may return in the future…

            The aviation market has changed.
Profits, not passenger convenience dictate Scoot's routes. Will miss the choice.

  • These cheap prices are if you're willing to fly/stop over for 22+ hours for a normally 8 hour direct trip! No thank you..

  • I will be flying Sccot next month for the first time.

I will have to endure a very long layover in Singapore.

    • Yeah i have done the 19 hour transit a few times at least now you can travel between terminals not like when Changi first opened after covid closure.
