          GP is actually a reasonable brand. I often use their CR2032 and A23 batteries. Ones I have seem good. I've tried generics before from discount shops and they often die within days or a week depending on usage.

          I've been using the same no name cr2032 in my G5 imac for newly 2 years with no issues.

          obviously depends on the no-name. but can't fault the ones I bought from the link below.

          2 years isn't long for a battery in a motherboard unless you're disconnecting the computer from 240v power on a regular basis. the only ones i've replaced are more than 5 years old unless they are no brand cells.

    i bought one of these 3 years ago. used one the other day to "fix" a dell dimension 3100 that had been chucked in hard rubbish and wasn't booting to post. battery fixed everything. :)

      OP battery 39cents each.
      my listing battery 12 cents each.

      if the batteries in my listing last half as long then it's a bargain.

      but show me evidence that the OPs batteries will last any longer or shorter than the no name batteries.

        Exactly how much testing do you think is required? Are you talking about individual cells?

        I worked in a battery shop. We tested many different no name lithium cells in search of something cheaper we could import and sell at a greater profit.

        Proper testing was conducted using a computer controlled battery tester. The best no name ones had about 60% of the capacity of GP cells. Most of them had 20-40% of the capacity. The more expensive cells like Panasonic and Maxell will also outperform the GP cells, but GP cells are definitely in the category of better cells.

        Furthermore, plenty of the no name brand button cells I replaced were leaking horribly. Just take a look at $2 shops, it's very easy to find leaking cells in the packs of no name Lithium cells.

        Then there's the guy who came in with a burnt wrist because the no name cell he put into his heart rate monitor/watch shorted itself out, creating a lot of heat.

        Why risk it or go to the hassle for 19c? It would be less effort to walk around for a few minutes in the city and find some 5c coins to make up the difference…

        Test your eBay cells and show us the results.

      DickSmith used to sell these, and the A23 as well, but I can't find it on their store website anymore. Been buying my CR2032, A23 and watch batteries from eBay since getting the 28 Degrees Card a couple of years ago.

    GP Ultra AA alkalines came out top by a big margin in a recent battery test in Choice mag. Just prior I saw them on special at Dick Smith, $1.99 for a 4 pack. Should've bought some to try.
    Lots of experience with generic CR2032 batts that come packaged with devices. Replacement Eclipse batts from Jaycar (yes, I was silly enough at one point to buy a pile to get a 'quantity discount') lasted two to three times longer. These may do even better.
    Incidentally, shelf life for lithium batts is ridiculous and just isn't an issue. I recently found an Eveready CR2025 button cell in a drawer that was at least 25 years old. Tested at 3.2 volts and performed as new.

    Just bought 4 energizers for $10 at Kmart and I highly doubt they will outlast these by 5+ times.

    I have used no name batteries from ebay and bargain shop, and they don't last.
    GP, Sony and Maxell are they way to go.

    Flat battery inconvenience risk accepted for for a few lousy cents, I have trouble believing it :)

      not to mention leaking battery risk. these cheap cells often leak. saw it many times when i worked in a battery shop. some people just completely ignore the facts when they can save a few cents.

    Is this a more trusted brand?

    I know that maxell brand batteries that are also branded as sony and made from the same factory, and its hard to tell which ones are fake and genuine.

      I think Maxell are made in Japan, so probably a lot better.
