  • Heard some feedback about bad battery life on Lenovo. How is this specifically, if anyone has one? Thanks.

Also, looking for opinions for this as compared to ThinkBook 14 Yoga Gen 2

I have procured and supported Dell, HP and Lenovo devices in SMB and Enterprise environments and never had battery issues specific to Lenovo.
Battery life is dependent on specs of the device and battery capacity. Really just comes down to the model of the device.

I had the previous gen E14 and the battery life was good.

      • Great device but my experience with the battery life on this model has been sub-par. My previous comment is here

I think I have this exact model and it has been good enough for me. I don't use it for a full day though so I can't give too much insight unfortunately

i don't have an E14 G4 but i do have 2x G2s and an E495 (the old name of this line) and the battery life has been great on all of them, i've been super impressed by them all round and the battery life is no exception.

i use mine a lot to watch videos on the couch, i haven't specifically tested the battery life but they'll happily do 4+ hours of video without needing to be tethered, which is comparible to the macbook pro i have for work (it's an older intel8th gen one, but even when it was brand new i felt the lenovo battery life was better tbh… maybe i've got a dud macbook)

comparing the E14 to an X1 carbon i got last week - the X1 has a slightly taller screen (1920x1200 rather than 1920x1080) which is a bit brighter, the X1 is obviously a fair chunk lighter, but otherwise they're pretty similar in terms of build quality and i'd be hard pressed to pay the extra money for the X1 (~$2k) over the E14 options, the reason i've got so many is for my wife's business, the other employees use them all the time and seem to be happy with them.

before these we had an E570 too (the old version of the E15) and it was great, i gave that to a friend recently as they needed to move on from their ~10 year old win7 machine :D

with regards to your other question - the only real difference between the E14 G4 and the 14 Yoga G2 will be the flippy/touchy screen - if you need a touchscreen/tablet option then go for the Yoga, if you just need a regular laptop then go the E14 and save yourself $300

      • Thanks for sharing. I found touch screen is useful when I don't have access to mouse.

    • Thank you all for the feedback.

Staying in the E14 model, is it worth the extra $100 to get the i5-1235U version?

Any recommendations for a 16" productivity laptop from Lenovo? (Not for gaming)

    • +2

I can highly recommend the P16s AMD with the QHD display, it's a joy to use.

Not bad! If this had touch I'd buy it in an instant. Hard to find a touch laptop with RJ45 (need it for work reasons)

    • ThinkPad P16s, P14s, T16 and T14 all can be equipped with touchscreen and come with RJ45.
