$30 off Min $50 Spend + Delivery & Service Fees @ Coles via UberEats

674

Just noticed on my ubereats app they’re running a coles promotion. I assume not everyone’s catchment has coles so depends if it serves your area. But good deal if you can get it.

This is a very limited deal for the few Coles that are on Uber Eats. Not available in Sydney, and possibly many other states or cities.

This is probably a promo for Coles/Uber so it may appear in the future if more Coles get on Uber Eats

    • +1

Available for me. I'm in a capital city. $4.99 delivery fee + service fee though

  • Is there a code?

  • +1

I don't know what UE is doing . I have one 1.8km away its always been on DoorDash but never here .

  • Targeted? Not able to find the offer in UE app..

  • Can't wait for them to dump their promo budget on me.
Have done several massively discounted Woolworths orders on items that are rarely/never on sale, coming out way ahead despite the markup.

    • -1

DoorDash same price as instore and I can't say how much I'm ahead by :)

  • +1

Found it on my main page of UE app, also searching for "coles" showed each coles store with the promo banner. There was a $6 service fee and $5.99 delivery fee (but that was zeroed due to Uber One subscription) so factor that into your discount savings…

    i've got a $30 off $50 groceries but it didn't apply to checkout…

    • Made sure the coupon is selected? I got a notification for this from the app and it seems to work

      • I see the offer on the main page and under promos but not at checkout and it asks me to enter a code

        • Weird, mine even counts down the amount I need to spend to use the coupon. Might be terrible targeting.

    • Same here. Tried both the app and the site.

    • Got the same problem here… tried to contact ubereats (which is so difficult to do)… and their usual unhelpful suggestions of restart the app, shut down your phone, delete & reinstall app or finally reset your phone…. umm no?

      • Promo available. I click add and select the promo however price does not change? Has, anyone tried placing the order and see how much they got charged

        • Be careful, if you there is an item that is not available and you total goes below $50, you will lose the promo and pay the full amount.

          • +1

@champhunter: my item aws out of stock, but my order was still $60 and discount code disappeared.

            • @cloudy: Was it $60 before fees and delivery if applicable?

Did you get a $60 spend deal?

              • +1

@Crownanchor: The Coupon works off the Cart Total.

The issue is that if it's a dumb and lazy driver, they don't make an effort to 'Best Match with Replacement' and instead put the item as 'Unavailable without Replacement' bringing Cart Total down to under the eligible total for the Promo

@cloudy in a separate comment also mentions that cocobella prices was not updated in App vs Coles and went from $11 to $22 - this is not handled at Cart Total but at the Adjustments line so (+$11)

You can see my other comment as well on my cart calcs for my orders in this thread

  • Not available for me either (uber one mem @vic, 5 options in delivery zone)

  • Good that Coles doesn’t seem to be adding abhorrent markups to individual items, but with a $9.99 delivery fee plus service fees it is a no go for me.

  • Got this offer but not sure its worth it. Are half price specials they run in Coles instore/online available on UE? Not to mention the delivery and service fees etc.

Being $30 off $50 spend, still probably worth it but I think that is very diluted

    • It depends on what you buy. Also if you don't have Uber One, this deal isn't great

  • Can see a local iga, $10.5 for Doritos wow. Prices seems marked up compared to in-store? Regardless of delivery + service fees.

  • Got $40 off $80 spend and Coles was in the list. Added items to make up $80 but the promo doesn't apply. Waste of time!

  • +1

Cheers OP 5x 20 packs Quilton it is!

  • +1

Mine is 30% off $50 spend

Edit: oh it’s just a general order offer

    • Got the same.

  • Coles isn't available in Adelaide :(

  • +2

Ordered $50 of goods for $25 Whooo hoo!

    a few moments later…

    1. White bread not available. I declined the wholemeal substitute and refunded the item.
    2. Tomato Sauce not available. No alternative options given and automatically refunded.
    3. Hot dog rolls not available. I was offered white bread (initially requested at #1 as the alternative… WTF? they have white bread now?)

I then get charged $40.75 by Paypal.

Update: The receipt in the bag was left.. total cost of the goods was $36.70.

    • Did it reduce the promo discount at the final checkout before place order?

      • +1

Yeah final checkout was $25.. even the Paypal pre-authorisation had the discounted amount.

    • +3

Can I neg my own deal…

I just experienced the same thing.

Check out screen said $25 cost.. then they took $60 out of my payment… and I had a missing item :(

      • Fk UE is sht

    • +2

The problem is that apparently these Coles orders are packed by the Uber driver and not Coles staff. I remember reading they get paid pennies for grocery deliveries compared to takeaway.

That time crunch + the fact that the stores are designed to be confusing = logistical nightmare.

    • That happened to me once, it is due to it being a store specific promo. If it's a generic $30 off $50 any grocery promo it'll subtract the OOS items from the total and you end up paying less. Not sure if it's a glitch or not but it's bloody cooked you're paying more for OOS items.

    • now i want white bread with hot dogs + tomato sauce :(

  • Same shit happened to me, 1 item removed so promo didn’t apply. I’m hitting them up for a refund if the promo.

    • Neg my deal, UE Is so bad

    • Last time this happened with a Uber One grocery promotion, i contacted them and they still applied the promo. Not sure if it's the same for Coles groceries

      • Yeah they credited me the 30. Still paid $2 more than I should have, but atleast they did that

  • +1

    This is the problem.

UE are showing catalog prices from last week, but when the driver buys the stuff it’s getting charged today prices. Which is a lot more.
This triggers an adjustment to my price of double the order total, then they didn’t apply the $30 off.

Example, cocobella said it costs $11 for 4 bottles but they are charging me $22 on my final receipt

    • If they're charging you more, why wouldn't the $30 off not be applied? I thought it's only an issue if you're charged less and your total becomes lower than the minimum amount

      • Yea I don’t understand it, seems like a lot of people are been shafted by UE too.

    • Ouch. I had no issues with today's order but had issues with last week's (for a different matter), but when I do check UberEats app price against Online they are the same (so some price sync'ing/updating going on accurately)

(I do quick checks on the Ubereats app/order against Coles online, today's Monster Ultra went back to 3.70 which was the same as in the app.)

In todays order all prices were accurate, driver also provide receipt this time, but the driver messed up on getting a 2L instead of 3L nudie ($6.8 vs $11, so -4.20 adjustments + 30c for 2 bags to -3.90 adjustment, so my final price was $22.42 instead of 26.32 (26.32-22.42 = 3.90 difference)

the one last week was a mess due to a dodgy/shitty thieving delivery driver, had a generic $20 off $40 off groceries

      Price : ~$24 which is $~44, less $20

Instead dodge kent didn't do any Best Matching at all bringing cart total to $26 (less x1 up and go fridge pack), add service fee $4 then wtf a $11.30 adjustment??

He didn't provide a receipt, but obvious maths, kent ripped me off by doing a Monster Ultra 4pack at 13.85 to fulfil a 2.55 single can and pocketed the other 3 cans : 13.85-2.55 = 11.30 (no 15c for the coles plastic bag, so he must've not scanned the bag at checkout either.)

Total after his bullshit was ~$41 (26 cart + 4 service fee + 11.30 adjustments) with no coupon applied

Complain like hell through the UberEats App / Email and they will refund you the full price and may give you $5 in UberCash too

      • How do you complain? I couldn't select this order under Help as it was not showing (not sure if it is a timing issue, but order is in my Order history, but not in my Help - past orders list). Tried emailing [email protected] and [email protected] but seems like they are not monitored emails. I'm using desktop, not mobile app.

  • Same thing happened to me, charged full price because of substitution, and I didn't get the item i approved! Grrr

  • Figured out the problem. The amount must be more than $50 for the promo to be applied.
UE is terrible though. 10$ charge for deliver and 5 for service fee. If work wasn't paying for this, there is no way I will use UE

  • I don't see any value added to this kind of service.
I prefer to picking the fruit and vegetables and half price deal myself instead of someone else who probably doesn't care that the apples are bruised and vegetable are bad already.

  • Same here - I ordered $50 exact worth of items, but there were items not available so I got charged full amount plus service fees and delivery charges for the items delivered. Didn't even prorate the discount. Anyone managed to contact Ubereats and get a resolution?

    • Contacted them. They said they will credit $30. But havent seen it as i have to wait 5-10 business days

      • How did you contact them? I couldn't select this order under Help as it was not showing (not sure if it is a timing issue, but order is in my Order history, but not in my Help - past orders list).

        • Account Tab > Orders Icon in top right (Your Orders - Past Orders) > Press latest Coles Order > Help in the top right

It'll have a Help - your order > Coles > Help with an order > Past order

you should be able to contact help from there for pretty much any issue and once the rep/cs responses you can do further chatting/screenshot attachments, but found that replying to the response that goes into your email instead to be much quicker at getting a reply

        • Order > Help (Top right) > Past Order > Pick the 'other' option and then send off your message

  • My Coles orders with DoorDash have been great but this with UE is a complete mess.

I ordered 10 items, only 3 items available. And 2 of these 3 are wrongly picked.

Same issue as everyone - because the total amount is less than $50, the $30 discount was not applied. Paid full price with service charges.

I think my driver didn't go hard enough to find my items. There is no way 7 out of 10 items are out of stock and 2 items are wrongly picked.

Also, UberEats' automatic suggestion for replacements is ridiculous. For example, I want Custard Apple, it suggests Green Lime. I want Grapes, it suggests 1.5kg Carrots, etc.

Lastly, the driver didn't follow the delivery instruction. He dropped the order in front of my apartment building, where it can be easily stolen.

  • +3

Had anyone got a screenshot of the promo? They are requesting it as it applied to my order, but then didn't give discount as items out of stock

    • Yeah received the same copy and paste response.

    • Did you have any luck with them? They also asked me for the screenshot of the promo, but I obviously dont have it and they said they cant do anything for me.

    • If you tell me which store I’ll send you a custom screenshot for the correct one.

      https://i.imgur.com/JbN3Msa.png

  • I'll never understand why uber is trying so hard to get into the grocery delivery game. I imagine it's near impossible to compete with the prices of the supermarkets own delivery services.

    • Near impossible is still possible, which means there are still customers. Uber provides service, as long it caters to that possible customer, that all that counts.
Their systems already cater for groceries so probably won't take up too much resources to add Coles.
If coles lose out, then really its coles problem

    • +2

MilkRun was closed down couple days ago. Uber probably trying to take their customers

  • Most of my order got cancelled and left without the discount. I suggest don't order any fruit or milk as they will send you close to expired goods.

  • Promo didnt get applied. Charged more than $60. Have put in a claim.
Lazy substitutions also. Really, there is not other types of bacon so the only option to offer me is some crappy ham? If I didnt accept it the total would have dropped below $50.
Gave me skinny milk instead of full fat too.
    Useless.

  • They must be getting slammed by requests, no reply yet

  • I wish I had seen this deal before ordering because the same thing happened to me. I just saw the discount when I opened the app so I decided to give it a go. I didn't take a screenshot of the promo because why would I? It all worked fine when I placed the order. If someone has a screenshot can you share it please?

    • ubereats is trash, after spending 6 back and forth messages about my issues they just keep copying and pasting the same lines and ignore the message im writing to them. Literally stole $17 from me, i feel bad i posted this. Hopefully someone has a screenshot for u, u really shouldnt need to save everything like they would try to rip u off, but they do.

      • I got charged an extra $28.49 because one pink lady apple was out of stock - so ridiculous

if you tell me which store i'll send you a "custom" screenshot

      • Thanks but I don't need it now because they gave me a refund without asking for a screenshot!

        • How long did it take them to get back to you?

          • @ajs900: The got back the next day

            • @eowyn: Finally got a reply from them

  • mmmm. $30 off so I spend $56. Service Fee added they Held $33 approx

one item out of stock (I doubt it just hard to find), dropped to $49.70 and got charged $54, with about $6 less in my groceries as well.

Now the odd thing is they want a screen shot of the promo, but it has been deleted.

Surely it is not this bad tobe doing this to people?

  • +1

So I've also got the above bug - charged $33, one item missing and therefore recharged without the 30$ voucher.

Ah well. They can see the original authorisation hold of $33 so hopefully I don't need to supply a screenshot of the promo.

    • it should be in your uber app, make your you are no in uber eats. Pretty sure you won't find a shot of the promo though - mine got deleted

      • I showed a screenshot of my 2 paypal charges, one being 30 dollars cheaper.

        • hey do you remember the name of the promo?

  • thats all I have as well. I take it your PROMO is totally nonexistent everywhere

    • huh?

  • The promo has disappeared from my account.

    • Same it’s now a 40% off banner on the main page. Cheeky.

      • Mine is now 60% off but the code doesn’t even apply!!

        • Mine shows the same, haven’t tried to apply it though yet. Perhaps in response to the issues those above have been having, this way if there’s no minimum spend you can’t get butchered by out of stock items changing your total. Assuming it ever works, that is.

          • @Mr Idiom: I dont assume anything uber has works. Their customer service has blocked me now, lol, they keep regurgitating the same lines without resolving my issue and now stop responding

        • any chance you've got a screenshot of the promo to share? (I got charged full price after a substitution and the customer service is asking for a screenshot!)

  • Did anyone get a refund or only credit? I legit haven't been using my uber pass anymore, or uber for that matter. They don't give any good deals anymore, I've switched to menulog.

  • I got the 60% off ($40 max.) promo and used it (no code). It's also disappeared from Uber Eats and I've been charged the full price. Delivery driver also didn't update all the substitutions they made on the app, including cheaper items. Disappointing first experience with Coles via Uber Eats.

    • Did you get a refund from UberEats? I contacted them after placing an order and they refunded the difference.

      • Yeah they did it pretty quickly after I contacted them straight after the order. Now I've just got an email that they have identified an issue with the promotion.
