I was looking for good travel SIMs for the UK and came across this. Its 100GB to be used in the UK (12GB in Europe according to 3's Go Roam deal).
It's valid for 30 days from activation.
It is the same price as the 50GB sim on Amazon. Has anyone used this before?

Pre-loaded with 100GB data, Unlimited minutes and texts
Access to our 5G network – at no extra cost
Data Pack lasts one month
SIM fits any unlocked 3G, 4G and 5G device

I was a bit confused about whether this was legit since it seems to give heaps more data (in the UK) than most of the other travel sims out there.
Please leave a comment if you've tried it before.

There's also 10% off if you buy 2 sims (it comes to $48.80)

  • Waiting on peoples thoughts if anyone has any!
I'll be travelling to the UK for 4 weeks in July with my Wife. Would be good for us to sort out a sim card each before we go.

    • I pulled the trigger on it… It'll be delivered by 5 May… I'll find out on the 21st May if it works or not!
I'm planning on using it in Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, France, UK, which all seem to be covered by the Go Roam policy

      • I wonder if there would be any issues with activation? Like needing to me a UK resident maybe.

        • +1

Last time I activated one of these at a 3 shop the sales rep put the store's address as my address

You may have issues with it accepting an .au credit card for recharges

      • Does not appear this item is listed for the 10% off for 2.

        • +1

Buy 2, save 10%…. it's under the price?

          • @maddoglee: It's stated under the price but doesn't apply at checkout. Your help appreciated.

        • damn, that's a crazy deal! I might look into that! Although I wanted a physical sim because I've been reading lots of phones are getting stolen from tourists in the Uk and Europe. I was planning on using my iPhone SE for most of the trip. But this e-sim deal sounds crazy good!

    • We got two of these: https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/en/bundle/uk-plan-mega-plus/ for a recent trip to the UK.

Got them delivered to a UK address (family). The Sims worked perfectly for us. 30 day expiry didn't start until you put in the Sim and activate it.

Just remember to cancel the auto renewal immediately after activation.

  • any suggestion for South Korea?

  • I bought a 3 SIM from Amazon last year for UK and it didn't have the data/Calls as per the package, but a call to 3 and they put me on a 30 day plan that did.

I read a few comments on Amazon of other 3 sims to find same issue happened too - so jsut be prepared to call them if it does :)

    • Were you able to call them from the newly activated service when you arrived or did you need to use a different number since there wasn't data/calls on your newly activated SIM?

      • I was able to call them with the sim in, there was a customer care number.

The sim was active so people would have been able to call me, I just had not data or funds to use. It worked well as they actually gave me more than the pack said I would get

  • I got one of these about a year ago……

it was as simple as putting in your phone and it was ready to go…

no credit checks and now sign ups!!

altho the $0 delivery might be for a UK address not AUST

    • $0 delivery free to .au address if you have prime

    • Interesting. So, no IDs and can't be traced ?

These are the cards that the travel sim companies re-sell.
We use them everytime we go to Europe with no hassles. Great to have a UK mobile number for booking stuff, reservations etc. Roams right through Europe. The last one we bought had to have an accurate activation date given, not sure why as you never used to.

The one you have listed has a lot more UK data than the one I have linked to. Looks to be a great deal!

  • Any idea on expiry of these? I'm not going to UK til end of yr….

  • +2

the other thing is they have NO roaming fees….

so you can use your UK data in most parts of the world FREE!

    check this out

    • That's limited to 12Gb though.. which is still great and all I am planning to use it for.

… I just read more on that link….. phew! that would've been annoying having a daily charge.

    • We used this card (UK 3) in the USA.

  • Check Travelkon and simsdirect as well. UK has more data because that's the network provider primary location, and other EU location is based on roaming
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/769086

I bought travelkon for EU trip next month

    • I missed the 20% off deal which sucks, but I'll be in the UK for at least 2 weeks of my trip.

    https://www.giffgaff.com/

Giff Gaff is cheaper but has less data for roaming. Free delivery to AU

    • +1

      that's 25GBP…. my post is $27.11AUD? (for 100GB)

      • Can it be used as a hotspot to tether ? Thanks

        • it seems like it can in Europe, but for the rest of the world…

    • O2 network too

  • has anyone recharged one of these ? i.e. for use beyond the initial 30 days, got a 3 month UK trip with some europe mixed in but would rather not have to change sim 3 times.

    • I used to have a 3 sim that I got back in 2011… I used to recharge it while living here to use data in New Zealand! hahah but I can't find it anymore plus I think the number expires if you don't do anything with it for 6 months.

      • thanks

      • Eyy, I did the same from 2012 to about 2015. That 6 monthly topup was a bit annoying but worked alright.

  • Nice find OP, ordered the SMARTY SIM from amazon UK for my upcoming trip a few weeks ago…but this might be a better option especially since you can get the recharge vouchers from any Tesco, Sainsbury's etc.

  • I'm off to the UK in just over a week, so I've probably missed the boat on this. Planning on about 10 days in the UK initially, then 25 days in Europe. What operator would be my best bet to maximise roaming data?

  • +1

If your phone supports eSIMs and you don't need a ton of data check-out Airalo - IMHO best option for O/S travel

    • yeah I was looking at that… plus I think there's 10% cashback with shopback… I was about to go with that, but this one came up cheaper albeit with less convenience… ahh the things we do to save a bit of coin.

      • How much data do you need? Also for Airalo check out referrals on OzBargain

  • I have a uk number I’m trying to keep. It’s on O2 now and I have to top up and make a call every 6 months to stay active.

Can this keep the number active easier/for lomger?

  • +1

But it’s £2 per day whilst roaming isn’t it? Unless I’m reading the 3 website wrong? So really only suits people spending most of a Europe trip in the UK

    • Pre paid is excluded from the charge. See the post above

  • Any idea if these can be activated outside the UK?

    • +1

Don't think so but I'll give it a go in June

  • Seems to be currently unavailable.
