Anything 7th gen Kaby Lake (7000 series) or 8th gen Coffee Lake (8000 series) with the iGPU should fir the bill.

      • You do not need dgpu for 4k videos. As long as they have the right encoding, there's usually more than enough processing power for it.

        • He wants 8k though. Possibly wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2?

Beelink make some ryzens about the $600 mark. If you want to spend a little extra.

          kaby lake will work

  • Just out of curiosity, what do people use a micro PC for?

    • +1

One of mine is an emulator box and plex server, the other is a backup PC running a pihole and homeassistant. Much easier to have that one running than my main desktop when I want to remote in from somewhere.

    • +1

I run HomeAssistant, HomeBridge, Paperless-ngx, a Docker container to push metrics from my inverter into HomeAssistant, Deluge, Plex, and some other things related to Deluge.

These are perfectly fine PCs for someone just doing basic computing, but they also make great little servers for home use.

  • Do you have any with an i7 CPU? Not fussy about RAM and storage.

  • How does this compare to "HP ELITEDESK 800 G3 Micro i5-6500T"?

    • +2

Would be pretty similar but from what I have read Lenovo's form factor is a bit better.

    Can these run win 11?

  • Bought one thanks. Everytime I umm'd and ahh'd about upping the RAM or HDD it kept going out of stock so pulled the trigger. My ancient download celeron NUC seems to have finally kicked the bucket so this works out well.

We run an i5 and an i7 version of these 24/7 on our boat, out full time.
Have served us well for 6 years so far.
Negligible power usage and no noise.
Good price, tempted to buy a sparesy just in case

  • Apart from the price, is there much difference between this lenovo and this Dell Optiplex 7040m Mini pc Intel i5 6500T 2.5Ghz 8/16GB SSD Win10 Pro Wifi?
Im quite hopeless with computer specs and was thinking about getting something for my parents.
Are these reliable to be storing photos and memories.. or because they've had so much use already, you wouldn't risk that?

  • Great format of pc. And cpu is a beast for the heat and power this produces. Of course that means you set up plex the correct way for 2023. No transcoding

  • Damm out of stock now.
OP any chance of any more?

    • Will bring more

  • Just received mine. Everything looks good and it’s actually running windows 11 pro

  • @ UN Tech Mine just arrived today, but no wifi dongle in the box?

    • +1

Might have missed it, can you shoot through an email at [email protected]. Will get it sorted.

      • NM, I went back through the bubblewrap and it was rolled up and taped— just couldn't see it.

        Cheers!

  • Mine arrived today and I've made a mistake. Decided to get myself a bigger 4tb 2.5" HDD but it doesn't fit in the caddy for the solid state drive it arrived with.

Anyone know where I can get a caddy that would fit a normal 2.5" drive? It looks like it fits thickness wise, but the caddy is clearly designed for a thinner SSD drive instead. The pseudo aceews for holding it in plus a flange to hold it in place.

Also then need to work out how to transfer the OS, sigh. Regret!

    • I installed a normal 2.5 ssd in the plastic caddy just fine, I didn't know 2.5 ssds came in different dimensions. Took a bit of fiddling as the plastic had to be slightly forced in to place for the screws to go in but I think it's meant for that.

  • Just finished moving over my media server on to this, great little machine, dual boot windows and Ubuntu runs just fine with docker for all the media stuff. definite upgrade from the pi4 !
Highly recommend for anyone on the fence.
