YouTube Premium Monthly: Single INR ₹129 (~A$2.34), Family INR ₹189 (~A$3.44) + More @ YouTube India (VPN Required)

2651

Welcome to the Ultimate Guide of Youtube Premium Subscriptions via India

6 months reminder about this deal and guess what? With fluctuating currencies, prices are now even cheaper! both for India and Turkey

While individual (single) plans via India remain the cheapest and should work for most Australian credit/debit cards (from experience I know ExpressVPN works for India if you connect to India via Singapore server), family plan sign-ups will fail for 99% of you unless you have an Indian issued bank card. If this the case, the only other option may be Youtube Premium Family via Turkey.

YouTube Premium: Individual TRY ₺29.99 (~A$2.30), Family TRY ₺59.99 (~A$4.60) @ YouTube Turkey

After Google increased the prices for Youtube Premium in several countries worldwide late 2022, including USA, UK, Canada, Argentina, Turkey, Japan (etc), we have the following facts:

  • Argentina is no longer the cheapest country to sign up from after being the go-to for years (now ARS 389 / A$2.67 for Individual plans and ARS 699 / A$4.80 for Family plans). Further, they have changed the way they take payments and so many Australian debit and credit cards no longer work for Argentina.
  • India is now the cheapest country to sign up from, although subscribing to the Youtube Premium (Family) plan is almost impossible given India's new laws around payments and now requires a local Indian payment method, something most of us do not have access to. Youtube Premium (Individual) should still be doable using ExpressVPN.
  • Turkey is now the second cheapest and easiest country to sign up from (just under 10 cents more than India)

Since last deal, most OzBargainers have migrated from Argentina to other countries (majorily Turkey). If you tried to sign up to a Youtube Premium Family via India, you probably hit a dead end, with most cards ending up declining due to this reason and this reason. Connect via Turkey instead

Available Plans via India:

For price references, Youtube Premium via Australia is $8.99/mth for student plans, $14.99/mth for individual plans & $22.99/mth for family plans

You can subscribe to either a monthly plan or an annual plan.

ISP Notes

  • Most VPN services have removed Indian servers due to new laws in India

  • Use ExpressVPN and connect to India via Singapore. Sign up and use the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee to get a refund. Of course you can try and use a different VPN :)

  • I can sign up for individual (all cards work, payment due sometime next month) but family sub gives me errors on all cards

  • If payment fails, try creating an Indian payment profile. You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the India profile.

FAQ

Q: Will I get banned by Google?
A: There’s always a chance, however only a tiny number of people (<5) have actually gotten suspended by Google (see linked previous post in OP). Proceed at your own risk.

Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all.

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:

    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up. After all it is intended for people who reside in these respective countries. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

Second this request - spotify guide would be great - i was doing a search and saw a previous guide from late last year IIRC - but judging from the comments - success rate wasn't that crash hot

  • Hey peeps..

I have been using the India YouTube Premium option for a few years without issue.

Are people being booted from it ?

    So far, I’ve been fine

    • +1

      So far so good

  • +1

Is YT Premium is all about no ads? If yes, there are multiple stable ways to watch ad free viz. YT Vanced, Pi hole etc.
Is there anything more in YT premium?

    • -1

      Yes!

    • Plus background play, mini player etc

    • The native app works smoother for me.

  • Haven't migrated from Argentina yet. Instead paying few cents extra for family plan. Too lazy to start all over again.

  • Surfshark vpn does not work

  • +5

YouTube Premium, especially family plan is honestly fantastic and worth even the full AUD price.

    • No Ads (and no need to mess around with AdGuard or PiHole etc)
    • BackGround play without third party shenanigans on mobile (great when YouTube Music is so much better then spotify)
    • 6 People on Family makes it incredibly cheap, and no 'household' shenanigans

And of course you are supporting creators to a much higher degree then Ads. I would however assume by using this VPN method you would contribute less to the pool and thus vastly reduce your contribution to YouTube creators? I mean depending on your use case that may be fine, but personally not a fan of it.

    • One would need to see what is actually paid to creators to be able to comment. If anything like Amazon (Audible or Kindle) then creators get very little based on this little read How Audiobook Authors and Narrators are Paid

On the plus side, by subscribing is paying unlike ReVanced users who are bypassing genuine subscriptions which this is.

Sure it is at a lower cost however AU prices are just not worth it for myself as I rarely use. I am happy however to pay a little towards the creators. in turn I consider this as meeting in the middle (for me at least) and paying something rather than nothing.

    • Lol. Youtube creators

  • +1

I just took a chopper ride and checked my last family account payment via my Indian address and it was $3.47.

  • Really just need family for years not months. Like the PlayStation trick.

Dump the money in now and not worry about recurring billing problems in future.

    • How do you do that?

      • You can't , that's my issue

  • Do people create a separate account dedicated to Youtube? I’m worried about side effects or banning.

    • Nah, I'm using my main account, if Google cared then they could easily stop it

    • I would always do the family trick.

      Make new account

      Join family with all people

Get premium on the disposable account

      Don't risk the real one

  • Those with family plans, does it work for family members living in different households? Eg my folks and siblings who have Google/YouTube accounts who are in different cities in Oz?

    • +1

      Yep, no issues for me

      • Sorry should’ve been more specific, what about YT Music?

        • Yep, I share my family plan across households and we use YouTube Music without issue. Of course make sure everyone is in the family group before signing up for Premium.

  • -7

Family option should be removed from this deal as it's unobtainable for the average aussie

    • But I still have to notify others that it exists for those who are able to obtain it

  • When this deal is finished? Any deadline?

    • +2

It’s not a “deal” it’s the regular price in India.

      • +1

Technically considered a deal for Australians

  • 28 Degrees stopped processing my Indian payments so I moved to Turkey.

  • I haven't had any success with this using ProtonVPN.

  • I have been using the student plan for a while, only $1.45 per month.

  • +1

Thanks, I just signed up for a 12 month plan via India as no matter what I did, I couldn't pay for the Turkey plan.

  • Does this make every account in the family group an Indian account?

    • No, I have my entire family using it, all still Australian accounts

      • So it's only the account that's paying for YouTube premium that changes to an Indian account right?

        • The account that's paying for it must have an Indian payment profile, but there's no need to make the account itself Indian too

Basically from Google's perspective, you will be an Indian national who is permanently living in Australia. Your account is Australian, all your settings are Australian, but your payment profile is Indian.

          • @Jolakot: Can anyone in the family group pay for YouTube family premium or does the family group manager have to pay for YouTube family premium for all the family members to get access to YouTube premium?

  • Its really weird i have cyberghost vpn and i connect to an Indian vpn but the payment is CA$. I tried free Urban VPn and it changes to correct Indian currency. Now i am beginning to wonder if Cyberghost is actually working all the other times when i turn it on.

  • -3

And give your details to the Indians, where every scummy scammer will try get their hands on it? No thanks, would rather pay retail.

    • +1

How exactly are you giving details to the Indians? It's Google, they're very motivated to keep your information safe so that only they can exploit it for advertising

  • I came across a comment on a similar post but for Turkey where it says if you sign up for youtube in turkey, your google play store will be based in Turkey and you may not be able to download certain apps. Is this the same case for India?

    • I've got the family plan set up in India, only difference I've noticed is that the trending tab on YouTube has more Indian stuff on it, no differences in app availability or anything like that

    • It's finicky. My main profile is actually American to this day as I had YouTube Red grandfathered to the intro price way back when the dollar was pretty much at parity. Having multiple payment profiles isn't the issue, it's straight up changing the Google Play region which may cause some grief. Worst case, use a second Google account based in Australia if you can't avoid completely changing regions to get this to work. I messed around with so many different settings and configurations that I honestly can't recall how exactly I got it all to work. I use a second Google account for Aussie apps like local banks and services.

  • I cant sign up. It says i need to secure my account. Anyone had the same issue?

  • Is it better to create a new account than use my current account which was in Argentina until a couple of months ago?

  • Sticking with my Argentina plan which works 100%, and I need the Family plan which sounds like it's not possible on India without a local card.

  • Can't get either of my Visa's to work for payment :(
Deleted all other payment profiles as well.

    • +1

Got it sorted. Added card in google first and then purchased subscription.
      Thanks all!

      • +1

thank you, added the card in google pay and it worked!

  • +1

I found that I can only be a member to an an account with YT Premium India if I change my billing country to India as well. I use a Samsung phone though so it affects the apps on my phone. There a lot of apps can't download that are for Australian region only.

Can I still change my country back to Australia as a workaround AFTER I joined the family plan? Or will I get kicked out of the family plan?

  • +1

thank you so much. Saved me so much money as I have been paying AUD for the past 2 years.

The steps were straight forward to follow.

  • As far as i remember, this does not work with Australian cards. You most definitely need an Indian CC or Indian debit card. I tried to buy Youtube Premium while I was in India with my Aussie card and it wouldn't accept my payment. I had to use someone else's card to pay.

  • Does anyone know if this can be used to get Google One? I am running out of storage on my Google Drive and need more. I have tried the Turkish method and it hasn't worked for me. Already have the Indian Youtube Premium though

    @OP

You sir are the best instructor in the world!

    • +1

@batrarobin thank you for your kind comments

  • I just moved to India for this a couple of days ago and averages out to $1.99 a month.

  • I can't get the payment to go through. Must've clicked the buy button over 50 times!

  • I can't get past "This purchase requires a payment method from your billing country". Tried India, Turkey and Argentina with Mastercards and Visas, credit and debit. Don't know how everyone is doing it!

    • same no luck for me in any country and on multiple cards

  • Hey guys, I just a message today saying "Payment declined. Please update your payment details to renew your YouTube Premium membership." I've been on YouTube premium Indian membership for several years with no issues and it is a family membership however in March my credit card expired and I updated the details and everything seem to be going through okay but now I'm getting this issue, I tried with at least six different credit cards and also reactivated the Indian VPN through ExpressVPN but nothing seems to go through it keeps asking me to put in the CVV number but when I do it takes awhile to process and eventually fails, has anyone else had a similar issue and any idea how to get this resolved?

    • +1

I have been experiencing identical issues with both India and Turkey. Have tried all the tricks mentioned, i.e adding to google pay first ect. Also hopeful of a resolution. Please share if you have one.

    • same issue, anyone worked this out yet ? dont want to pay $20 a month ! thats a rip off !

  • Tried with ExpressVPN following the steps in the guide. Couldn’t get my AU cards to be accepted.

If the payment declines, just continue to press "buy" and it will eventually redirect you to the secure payment vendor gateway.

Tried dozens of times with each card but no luck.

    • @afreedma Individual plan?

      • Yes, individual plan.

        • Not sure what's happening. Maybe best option is to go through Turkey. See links in post for Turkey

  • +1

Been trying multiple devices/VPNs/MobileInternetVsNBN with no luck to reach the youtube premium site (or any internet at all tbh), it's like all my internet connection has been cut instead of VPNed. Anyone else facing the same problems?

Flushed DNS cache and ensured DNS settings were set to automatic too. Am on Windows

  • +2

NordVPN new account in turkey with turkey address and turkey payment profile revoult card failed
