"Temu is the sister company of the Chinese e-commerce giant Pinduoduo". Based on time.com, it should be a legit site.

Some benefits of buying from Temu include:

  • Free return in 90 days
  • Refund the difference in 30 days
  • Offer $5 for late delivery

I bought 30+ items for $81 including many other items at 60%-70% off.

Edit: Looks like the promotion is still going so I remove the expiry, also add a note to the minimum spend

We see some require $15 min spend while some need $30. This should be due to Temu's order minimum thresholds for different items, allowing them to fit the free shipping.

  • Thought 30% off for new customers was over

    • I just tried the code and it worked.

  • +4

I bought 17 items (3 rings and 14 lapel badges) for just under a $1 each and they arrived in less than 10 days.

  • +2

have had a few orders come already, some decent stuff and good customer service.
The live chat is instant, and usually ends up processing non-return refunds

    • big wins

  • Looks like min order of $30 is required

    • should be $15 minimum spend

      • Won't let me check out with $15 order

        • I have a few items in the cart and it let me check out. Have you tried it on a browser?

        • Seems like they have minimum thresholds for different items based on size and weight etc

  • Is it have to use app?

    • Nope I used my desktop

      • OK, it won't let me browse without sign in

        • +3

That's a -1 for me. Sometimes I just want to browse without the hassle of logging in.

          • @t25: Same to me until I read the post on time.com I know I am not alone

  • So what's this like Wish meets Ali Express?

    • +1

      much smaller range than Ali

    • It's Ali Expressed headquartered in the US with much smaller range to reduce refund requests.

  • +5

Ordered about $100 from them in last deal, they sell the same things as in Amazon and Ebay, very good price for the promotion discount. Delivery is fast, better than Amazon's 3rd party seller, heaps better than Ebay.

  • Just don't understand how it can be so cheap. Or have we just been paying through the nose for lapel pins all these years??

    • welcome to the down under!

    • +1

Loss leading. The prices will creep up.

      • They always do. Gotta make money somehow and its not to sell you things for cheap all the time.

  • Caveat emptor. Their supposed sofirn torch "discounts" are reminiscent of certain chinese lumens claims - a figment of someone's vivid imagination.

  • +1

tomtoc has a decent range which is much cheaper than Amazon/ebay

Edit: looks like a few items aren't listed now

  • What is categorised new customer ? Different email ? Different address ?

    • +2

      New email,

I've done a few ti the same address, same payment just a new email account

      • Cheers, better than Aliexpress

  • +1

Won't let me check out with $15+ spend… Asking for $30 minimum spend.

    • I have a few items in the cart and it let me check out. Have you tried it on a browser?

Edit: Seems like they have minimum thresholds for different items based on size and weight etc

Get off facebook, instagram, get off the internet

      • +1

it’s totally different. This company set up a team which have 200 people just focus on find the vulnerabilities and then use it to hack your phone. That’s why google removed their chinese verson of app from google store.

But if you then it’s ok, then it’s your choice.

        • what's the point of hiring 200 people in order to hack vulnerable people? They are the Ali's rival. Don't think they make a living through hacking. They could farm data for ads and sales similar to most apps do these days but to what level

    • +4

I mean you might be right but the fact you included 7 News and News.com as your sources doesn't exactly add credibility lol

      • -7

Dont trust the CCP.. they dont even let their people vote. Aussie news networks are NOT FOX news or Skynews… they just report news people today are brainwashes by right wing nut jobs online telling them the news is fake.

        • +1

Its all FAKE NEWS MEDIA. Opinionated rubbish dressed up as “news”.

    • eBay and Amazon did the same, but the Chinese offer much cheaper goods for consumers.

  • China free shipping comes with a price where Auspost must pay for the delivery side (the Australian taxpayer) but China shipping to Australia is no to low cost due to subsidies.

What I'm really highlighting is try not to buy useless crap for the sake of it on this and other similar sites because there's a real financial and environmental cost to shipping it to Australia.

    • I thought it's free shipping because China paid a large sum of cash so auspost delivers for free and China gets business?

      • +4

        Nope.
We have an international postage treaty, where :

        1) There should be a uniform flat rate to mail a letter anywhere in the world
        2) Postal authorities should give equal treatment to foreign and domestic mail
        3) Each country should retain all money it has collected for international postage.

Basically, China doesn't really care about getting paid adequately to ship the parcels out, because it is heavily subsidised with cheap labour and economic manipulation.
However, the receiving country must deliver the mail, regardless of the cost from their end.

It floods other countries with cheap stuff, which destroys local manufacturing and retail industries, that cannot compete fairly against it.
Auspost ends up financially burdened, to sort and deliver the abundance of Chinese parcels, without compensation from China - because it is allowed to keep the international postage money to themselves.

        • +1

Source.. Trust me bro…..? I work in Australia post before and all we heard this parcel business safe us while the patriotic Australians never sent a letter anymore and lost us alot of money….

          • +2
          • @Anubizz: ….lost US a lot of money?

AusPost is a wholly owned commgov - ie taxpayer - business. It was established as a service to people and businesses, with community service obligations. That has changed over the decades, along with technology. It's still one of the least efficient parcel deliverers in the country if my experience is the norm.

          • +1

@Anubizz: Parcel delivery would help out Austpost financially, IF the parcels were shipped domestically.
The boom in local e-commerce is what you have heard about, which is true.

However, parcels from overseas cost Auspost money to deliver, and it is a heavy burden, due to being flooded with the shear quantity.

Good question, but you were misinformed about the situation.

            • @mull: Here from the mouth of au post CEO himself, never once he mention China…..

              https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/no-longer-pr…

              • @Anubizz: It would be politically, economically and business unwise; to publicly reveal directly why your business is not generating a net profit.

Most of Auspost's revenue can only be generated domestically.

It gets most of its income through domestic mail, which is constantly dwindling due to digital methods of delivering information.

Under the postal treaty, Auspost does not receive direct income from individual parcels received from overseas, yet they are obliged to deliver them here.

        • Good.

        • Look at how much it cost for us to send things to China, and how much it cost them to send to us.

The same is repeated in other countries. China is flooding the world with goods the world over.

          • @t25: It is pretty obvious that our postal service is heavily exploited by China, given that it costs more for me to send mail of any size within my neighbourhood, than the combined cost of some items including postage from about 9,000km away.

        • Source of this info?

          • @Tomaus62: Universal Postal Union, it's a United Nations organisation, that has created these rules.

The matter has made USA so annoyed, that they threathened to leave the union.

As a result, China will need to provide more compensation for the volume of mail that arrives at postal terminals.

            https://www.cargoforwarder.eu/2019/10/20/upu-decision-means-…

    • The UK have also been exploiting this for ages.

      • Technically, we are disadvantaged due to our geography (we're not a major international logistics hub) and population density.

Having gone through the site my opinion is:

-Inferior range to AliExpress - way less range.

    • Blatant Knock offs are available but quality is comparable to a suburban market. This is bad.

Non rep quality. Even the "brands" are sometimes openly displayed.
Search for Yeezy, Nike , Polo you'll see some stuff blatantly displayed unlike AliExpress. Very cheap knockoff stuff.

It makes DH Gate look like David Jones.

    • Kind of like a fast fashion/cheap small goods site. It's the internet version of a 2 dollar shop.

    • Very similar prices to AliExpress when you compare stuff that Ali actually sells.

    • Site randomly shows Trump merch for no reason in alot of search results. Maybe people like that, but it's distracting and not really relevant.

    • All adult pics of "fun objects" are unblurred, detailed and easily viewable to the general public without logging in. So im assuming if a person is are under 18 they can order these things.

    • I saw an adapter that turns your drill into a mini chainsaw. That was actually cool.

Probably wont use it unless it became way better to what's already out there.

  • Expired already?

    • +1

Looks like the promotion is still going

  • This site has so many "vouchers" and "deals". Basically if its less than 50% off you are getting scammed so don't use any deals below that. Double check the prices vs ali etc

Also stay away from all the referral scam stuff they have in the mobile app unless you want to waste your time referring a ton of burner phones or annoying friends and family for a few bucks.

"There have been no BBB complaints that allege the goods Temu ships are counterfeit or fake." said on time.com

Yes I agree that I would not use their app until see what will happen later

      • +1

Wow those Yeezys are real? Adidas doesn't even sell Yeezys anymore lol… Must be where they ended up. Temu have purchased the world's supply! Lol Seriously though
Complete BS talking to time.com, they are straight up lying, those are Reps and bad ones at that.

I typed Polo and I got the horse on a shirt in a picture. I mean Polo shirt is a generic term but cmon it's blatant. Got the crocodile in there as well some Lacoste action, can't leave that out.

I have strong opinions about this site at the moment.

    • +1

Multiple OzB posts unpublished for referral spam!

  • They are giving away a good few coupons, the $100 giveaway is pretty easy to get, just open the website without login to look for popup spinning wheels. Those $100 discount include the spend $50 get $25 discount, a few $75 get $15 off and $100 get $30 off.
the range is much smaller than ali, especially for electronics but good thing is price shown is the final price you pay not dodgy pre-gst like ali when you always ended paying extra.

    • said that the spinning wheels rewards programme made it became popular in US

  • cheers OP used the code!

  • Thanks OP, good prices for cat toys/ beds/ scratchers with discount code

  • I don't understand how to get $1 as I am a new customer, put $20 item to cart and put the code, nothing happened. Have to spend at least $28?

    • try checking out with a total of $15 (or $30 in some cases) and see how it goes

  • The big questions is - do they sell He-Man toys!! :-D

    Doesn't look like it :-(

  • +1

Dont know just how much of a bargain this stuff is, but bought a ton of rose gold decorations for my partners birthday in a couple months, came to $38 shipped using the coupon.

  • Items under $1 ? We will spend money to bring garbage home.

  • cant comment on quality, shipping time or anything but just used this code and it worked so thanks!

  • +3

There is a way to get 50% off $50 with $25 credit.
Google Temu item in incognito browser
It will come up with claim $100 offer, it will have buy $50 get 50% off.
Open the offer and open it in app, offers added to account in the app.

    • $25 credit for the following order?

      • Same order

    • See the 100 from the spin but don't see the 50 offer. Seems 100 is the only spin you win so it's not random

  • +1
