Call up, I called to make sure it was linked correctly when I first got it (it was)

I currently have a Nab qantas platinum card, will this void the bonus points for this card? Cannot find anything in the t&c stipulating this.

  • It's now been 8 weeks since I met the spend, but still shy of the second statement. No sign of points yet.

  • -1

Dud card,Suncorp are ageists….retiree can't get card but have met all requirements….go elsewhere

  • Has anyone received the QFF bonus points yet?

    • +2

still waiting.. def been more than 8 weeks

  • Second statement and only again the base points not the bonus points

    • Wow based on yours and other comments above not keen on having to hold this card for 2-3+ months. Just received my first statement and no bonus even though we reached the minimum spend within one week.

Also weirdly enough for some reason was only charged $99 for the annual fee, couldn't find the $129 or $49 ones anywhere on the statement.

Had a long argument with support over the weekend.

I met the spend May 5, over 8 weeks ago. They stated that I only met the spend when the following statement is processed, on June 3. 8 weeks after that is July 22, and when I stated that for the points to be credited by then, they would have to come with my early July statement. She disagreed and stated that they would come with the August statement. All of this was after arguing over the t&C, she was adamant that it was a 3 month period, not 8 weeks.

    • +1

This card is a joke, never again Suncorp

      • Suncorp? More like Suncrap, am I right?

  • Met minimum spend in first 2 weeks of having the card. First statement (one month from card activation) showed I have earned 70,000 bonus points.

Had second statement issued (two months from card activation) a few days ago. Still no bonus qantas points credited

    • Wait so they actually already showed the bonus points on your 1st statement but simply didn't transfer it? Never had that happen before with other cards, is your qantas number correct?

      • Yes because I have received the lower points amount for the regular spend (eg X points per $ spent)

        • Weird then since myself and judging by the other comments are still worse off, met the minimum spend but nothing showing on statements.

          • +1

@vawiyoci: I just got a response from Suncorp… same as what others have received:

Your Account must remain open, in good standing and be enrolled to earn Qantas Points with the Suncorp Clear Options Platinum Credit Card at a cost of A$49 per year.

Applied on Tuesday, got the initial email saying they received application, but since then no other confirmation or approval/request for further documents? Does anyone know how long it takes for them to approve the application? The online status checker is less than helpful coming up as "lblApplicationStatusCode_72"

    • +1

      A week or so

    • What ended up happening with your application? Seems like Suncorp is similar to AMEX where they don't email you about after rejecting your application. Or did you end up getting approved after how many days?

      • When i got this error, it was because it had been rejected.

You need to contact them to see if you can appeal the decision. Often its an automatic rejection in their system

        • Right, thanks that seems similar to the experience a relative of mine had after I tried to get a few of them onto this before the deal expired. Though it was weird cos they actually got called up to upload their proof of income documents after applying and then after another week of radio silence they contacted suncorp again only to be told they got rejected lol.

      • yeh it took maybe 3-4 weeks for my application to be approved. I didn't follow up with suncorp, it just automatically became approved after that time. and then another week for the cards to arrive in the post

        • it took maybe 3-4 weeks for my application to be approved

Wow that is crazy long, surprised they didn't try to contact you during that entire time lol. That status page seems to be completely useless cos I think I had the same code before getting approved while another relative got rejected without any notice and only found out after calling Suncorp a week later themselves.

Honestly, people should avoid this card. If you're not a churner there are better offers. If you're a churner then having to hold this card for months ruins it. There is no market for this card, wish I could neg but already voted positive so could only remove my positive vote.

    • It's a pity since Citibank and NAB have been pretty smooth experiences for me despite some of the other ozbargain comments on their deals. Both were fast payouts etc except apparently NAB no longer refunds the annual fee any more. So must be a Suncorp issue.

  • +1

Just received second statement and no bonus points yet, even though bonus points were mentioned on first statement, and min spend reached in that period. Will give them a call.
Edit: I have to listen to the new Taylor Swift album before calling them lol

    • +1

I just called Suncorp to complain.
I met my min spend on 01/06/2023 and received notice of 70k bonus points in my first statement but did not receive the bonus points.
Next statement came and went and I got the points from spending credited to my QFF account - no sign of 70k bonus points.
I stated advice from another comment, that bonus points would be credited in following statement.

Lady on the phone disagreed. Said she apologised for the incorrect advice but the points will be credited “within 8 weeks from meeting min spend.”

I then informed her that within eight weeks will be before my next statement - does that mean they’ll be credited before my next statement? She said yes and confirmed they’ll be credited in the week ending 28 July.

I asked if she could expedite the process as I wanted to use points to book a flight. She said no. It will come in that week.

I stated it was misleading as the t&cs state the points will be credited within eight weeks. If they know it will come in the eighth week, that’s misleading and they should state so. She said she agreed but can’t do anything :’)

I expressed my disappointment and said thanks. If anyone has had any luck calling and getting them expedited, let me know, and I’ll call them again. I wonder if I’ll have any luck if I “suggest” the matter may be referred to AFCA, strictly to motivate them. Practically speaking, the points will be credited before any outcome is arrived at by AFCA, but it may get pushed up and approved earlier.

  • +1

First statement just received - no sign of bonus points, only regular spend credited

  • What a bad experience, I have churned anz, cba, nab and westpac in the past 12 months, is there any other card that offer qantas bonus points? Cant churn amex as I have it as one of my primary cards.

    • +1

Still have couple of options like st george and other citibank backed options

      • Thank you

  • So I'm in the same boat as everyone else. Lodged a formal complaint - after over 10+ calls still have not received my points. I've closed my card now as can't be bothered as don't think the points will ever come through. Never again suncorp! Completely hopeless

    • Did u go down the route of an AFCA complaint?

      • well they kept saying they were escalating the claim to another team and then one operator said the points will be delivered in the next business day and it had been a week. Then got a formal letter saying they need another week to 'investigate.' When I called back to ask why it needs more investigating as I thought the points were in the process of being credited they said just wait for another week.
        So I've given up.

        • :(. That's fair… I've churned suncorp before but it was just the reward points and didn't have any issues with that.

Sounds like the qantas bonus points situation is a total mess

          • @eastmeetswests: YEP for me anyway! Would love to hear someone that actually got the qff points and be happy for them!!

  • If no one in this thread has received the bonus points, maybe they have actually coded things incorrectly. I can see the bonus points written in the first statement but only the regular spend has been credited.
If people have waited over 3 statement periods then clearly there's something wrong. If enough people complain maybe they will escalate things.

  • have met the min spend, only base points credited but no sign of bonus points despite it showing on the 1st statement

    • Within 8 weeks my friend.

      • thanks @Yuddenator123, has anyone reported successfully receiving the bonus points within 8 weeks?

        • +2

Nope, have passed three statement cycles and more than 10 weeks since I met min spend, still no sign of bonus points. They manually credited 2000 points to my account, and that came through, so something is clearly wrong with the backend and bonus points promotion were coded wrongly.

Have called them numerous time. It is always the same excuses: "wait for your next billing cycle", "8 weeks after spending", "in 2-3 business days after your billing cycle ends", etc.

Definitely the one to avoid - I'm not sure if I'll ever see the bonus points.

          • @richrichie: Did the bonus portion even show up on your end of month statements like some of the commenters above even though they also didn't receive it anyway?

            coded wrongly

Is this qantas card collab a new thing for Suncorp? Seem like they didn't have any issues or delays with their own reward points so maybe like you said they really stuffed up the IT part for the qantas points or having teething issues.

            • @vawiyoci: seems like noone has got the bonus points despite what being stated on the T&C and many has experienced only the base points being credited. Surely something has to be done or raised to AFCA

            • @vawiyoci: I think this is a new card /reward points. Im a frequent churner and this wasnt an option to get points on the qantas website.

I think as a collective, if more people lodge formal complaints after the specified 8 weeks, they will actually look into the issure, rather than using the same scripted line of - waiting till 8 weeks etcetc

              • @eastmeetswests: I actually did already complete a feedback survey a while back through an email link after having to sort out another unrelated issue opening this card and mentioned the points delay issue lol.

        • I'm not sure tough one.
If billing cycle is on the 4th of July and you met your min spend say immediately then say after 8 weeks that is through to the 29th of August - you will get it in your next billing cycle so hopefully on the 5th of September. I'm not sure either I'm also in the same boat, showing it is confirmed but still waiting.

          • @Yuddenator123: I completed the $3K within the first two weeks, and the 70K pts showed up on my first statement but was never posted to QFF. The usual spending pts have been posted correctly for the last 3 months, just no sign of bonus points.

If they stick to the 8th week T&C, it should have arrived early this month for me. They insisted it is the next billing cycle after the 8th week, so it should be last week the latest. But still nothing today.

Called them up just now and was guaranteed it will show up by this Thursday, whatever guaranteed means. I am 90% sure it still won't show up this Thursday and their next excuse is they have processed it and it will be posted together with my next statement. And the same thing will repeat again month after month. Though happy to be proven wrong (and hopefully I'm wrong, sick of chasing them).

            • @richrichie:

showed up on my first statement but was never posted to QFF.

This seems like the most dodgy part, pretty much never experienced this before with any of the other cards I've churned through over the years across different banks. Prior to suncorp the worst case late scenario was not receiving the bonus until the 3rd statement but in every instance the points always arrived within a day or two of that and were never say, pushed onto the next one making you wait another month. Definitely starting to feel more and more like an IT issue on their end but the frontline customer service agent staffs don't know enough to deal with or escalate it properly and can't be bothered.

            • +1

@richrichie: This will be it i guess, if not latest latest the next cycle haha

              • +2

@Yuddenator123: Well, as expected, still nothing as of today. Gave them a call this afternoon and apparently they are now aware of the problem. They also now have a "list" of affected customers and I have been added to that list. Not sure why they need a list since it has affected every single one.

And as predicted, I was told to wait until my next statement cycle for the point to be posted.

                • +1

@richrichie: I'd lodge a formal complaint if you haven't done so already and go through AFCA as well. This issue is affecting every single person who has applied for this card and they are still advertising this card across social media and to people who bank with them as well.

  • +1

Has anyone successfully received bonus? I still haven't received points, met spend criteria on May 15th, first statement on 3rd June with "70k bonus" listed. Called up and customer service said I should receive by 28th of July, I asked if anyone had successfully received points (or if there was a back-end issue) and she said no it was working correctly…will keep this comment updated…

    • +1

**Edit: Finally received my points, two full statments after I successfully qualified. Keeping the card open for 3+ months may not be worth it if you're a churner.

  • +1

Has anyone walked in branch to complain about this in person yet? As soon as my eight weeks are up, I’ll give it a try.

    • +1

Went in branch. Achieved nothing. Personal banking consultant advised all cc stuff is dealt with by a separate team I can reach on the phone. Direct line is 1300 203 715.
He has recommended that if the points don’t come before the start of week 9, email him and he will raise a complaint on my behalf, and there is other recourse such as AFCA. I advised i was trying to avoid that and ve prophylactic as I am fairly certain based on others’ experiences that the points will not come. He advised the call centre will likely just push me away until I get to that stage.

      • +1

Until it starts costing them real money (i.e AFCA), there's no incentive for them to hurry things up

  • +1

Has anyone who signed up actually received their bonus 70K. I'm patiently waiting until someone confirms before signing up!

    • +1

Not from what I've seen in this thread. I signed up a month ago, bonus pts awarded on the 1st statement but not transferred to QF.
Patiently waiting in the 8 week queue…

  • +1

Called them 3 times to ask why the bonus points haven't been in my qff account yet even though I receoved base points. First 2 times, they said we have to wait 8 weeks after you met your spending criteria, which I met on 21 May. They also told me to start counting from then. So this is 9th week and no points yet so I called them again today. This time, they told me that we have to start counting 8 weeks from the first statement that you met your spending criteria. So, my first statement with 70k bonus points mentioned was on 8 Jun and I have to wait till 3 Aug. Let's see what happen.
This is really a horrible credit card provider, btw. I am never going to apply suncorp credit card.

    • Yikes… it just keeps getting worse and worse! Not a good sign that this deal was posted on OzBargain in late April, and to this date not one comment on OzBargain confirms receiving the bonus points…

    • +1

online AFCA complaint should speed things up.

  • +4

These are a joke, the bonus points appeared on my first statement. After three statements I haven't had a single QF point credited to my account yet, base or bonus. Told last month they'd be in my account this month, still jack. So I've raised a complaint but can see this dragging on, easily the worst operation I've had to deal with yet, even for a Shittybank backed brand.

    • +1

Had a similar experience to you - first statement didn't get my base QFF points, after investigating turns out they had recorded my QFF number incorrectly (appears they duplicated the number in their records somehow) - managed to get this fixed and got the base points from second statement, but the base points from 1st statement still not credited despite 3 calls to their hotline and all reps confirming would be transferred within "a few business days"… ludicrous

      • +1

Yeah same, I called after two months of nothing, despite checking online and my number and name being correct, but have now had another statement with zero points credited. I've never had a Suncorp product before, and won't again, but I'm now owed these points and will pursue them to the end of time if I have to!
This month I had zero spend, so no new points earned, but they still owe me over 72,000, which they've confirmed they can see their end.

  • +1

Nearly hit 8 weeks but not looking hopeful

  • +3

    online AFCA complaint submitted.

  • +2

This is my 5th card for credit card churning in 2023 and worst experience ever.

  • +2

Suncorp aren't paying the 70,000 Qantas frequent flyer bonus points. Why is this still an active deal?

    • +1

I am confident they will honour the points after getting a query from AFCA

  • +2

8 weeks after my statement showing the bonus points is today. No sign of anything.

  • +2

Thanks for the heaps up regarding no points awarded. I would be annoyed if I signed up, took a credit hit, make a $3000 spend to know I won't get points. Please update the rest of us if anyone ends up with a resolution..

  • +4

Support aware of the issue, bonus points stuck on "pending". Gave a timeframe of 1-2 weeks and added my profile to a list of affected customers. They gave me 2k compensation points for the 5 minute call this morning if that interests anyone.

    • +1

I called just then and all I got told was to wait 8 weeks from the statement showing the spend was complete (even though T&Cs is 8 weeks from the spend being met, not from the statement). Nothing about being added to a list.

      • +1

I've waited the 8 weeks post statement. Hopefully they fix it for everyone soon.

  • +4

lol i was wondering why i havent received my points and came here to check. seems like everyone's in the same boat.

Hopefully we all get it in the 3rd statement which shouldn't be far off. agree its a bit annoying.

  • +1

My points haven't arrived either. My first statement has 70k bonus points on it but never arrived :(

    • My points just arrived. Would have been near my third statement.

  • +2

Haven't received my bonus points either! Glad to hear pretty much everyone else is in the same boat!

  • +1

Anyone else submitted an online AFCA complaint?

    • +1

never done one. what happens if you do one?

      • +1

What happens is you might actually receive the points.

        • +1

          lol

          • +1

@bidam1: Takes less than 10 mins to do it. Worth the effort.

            • +1

@BrunoBear: So they don't require you to already have had written correspondence first with Suncorp before you file a complaint?

    • Yes, submitted around a week ago.

  • +1

Met the spend in first week. Received points on 2nd statement (7 weeks after meeting spend).
    Maybe it's been fixed?

    • Did u contact suncorp at all to get the bonus points?

      • I didn't

        • Thanks! Hopefully this will be a sign that citi have gotten their act together

    • What date did you receive the points?

      • 27th Jul

        • Were the points just on your statement or credited to your Qantas account also ?

  • Spoke with them on the phone again. Apparently it will come on my next statement on 7 August (which is more than 8 weeks after I hit min spend on 1 June.)
I expressed my sincere dissatisfaction but was not offered any compensation points.

    • next statement on 7 August

Well hopefully it's actually fixed now and wasn't simply a deflection tactic to get off the phone asap with a pissed off customer judging by the older earlier comments lol.

  • +1

Very tempted to apply for this card but will hold back till most of you folks get your SUB.
I can feel the frustration specially if you are a churner.

  • +1

70k points landed today for me - due a statement this week, haven't received one yet though. Spend met early May.

    • +1

Landed in your Qantas account or just on the Suncorp monthly statement?

      • +2

        QFF account

  • +1

Good to hear some people getting their points - awaiting 3rd statement and if it's not in there I'm going to call and be very angry lol
