Its probably quite pleasant, but it sounds awful. Like shaving with vaporub. Lol.

    • +28

What's awful is I purchased 2 of them last week at full price.

      • +7

        F

        sorry for your loss

        • +9

I’m thinking of you during this difficult time

          • @Albtal: I can understand a little bit how you might be feeling.. I too, have lost money on something I love, something very dear to me

          • +3

            @Albtal: Thoughts & prayers.

      • +1

        That must sting.

      • Such a shame you couldn't shave a little off the price.

      • +2

I bought one two days ago for $12.95. I'm very disappointed in myself.

    • +2

Yeah this variety is a bit harsh for me. But their sensitive cream is, for me, superb. Not sure they do it as a soap though. https://www.amazon.com.au/Proraso-White-Shaving-Cream-Sensit…

      • They do :)
I was going to get the white soap, but decided on the red one which is a little spicy on my face.

    • the smell is mild and you barely notice it actually ….for me the saving isn’t big enough that you wouldn’t buy one of the other scents if you don’t like this one ……

  • +2

Thanks OP, red is the same price

  • +3

Looks like red is the same price. https://www.amazon.com.au/Sandalwood-Shea-Butter-Shaving-150…

    Too bad white is $20

  • I much prefer the tubes for $2~ more as over time these can fill with moisture from the brush and get quite claggy.

Proraso cream is good for the money but from my experience, I normally opt for a tube of Musgo Real cream for about $32 on sale. They last ages so over time, the cost is minimal IMO. But this is still really good.

I have recently tried the Palmolive shaving cream. It is very good value $2.39 per tube. Good lather and slick.
      https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0778ZCLLP?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-re…

      • I remember Palmolive being what my dad used! Another cheapish one I've enjoyed is Erasmic. But don't tend to see it as a cream tube often.

        • I like the Palmolive shaving cream. I have tried cheapo Sanofi Shave cream they sell at Woolworths. Similar price, but significant difference in quality. IMO Palmolive is so much better.

    • +1

Jack the barber shave cream at Woolies is really good too. 50% off every couple of months too.

      • Def best value, like $6 a tub on sale

Price matching Shaver Shop, I think: https://www.shavershop.com.au/proraso/refresh-shaving-soap-e…

EDIT: Same on their eBay store, as @CloudDragon noted above.

I know it's not directly part of this thread, however, i just started using a cut throat blade. Can anyone reccomend a good aftershave that is either fairly priced or that i can get on special at some point?

    • +1

Proraso Green Menthol is my favourite that is cheap. Just depends how they affect your own skin.

      • This is what I use too when I used to straight razor, I still use it but no longer use the straight razor (too time consuming).

    • NIVEA MEN Sensitive After Shave Balm https://www.amazon.com.au/Nivea-Sensitive-Shave-Balm-100ml/d… , I buy when is 50% off ($6.50)

      • I've always found Nivea Men stuff to be too greasy/doesn't absorb.

The proraso aftershave balm is good.

Lately I've been using https://websiteofstuff.com/products/spf-50-face-lotion I shave my beard and head and have been trying out all sorts of moisturisers with SPF for a few years and this is the best all round I've found so far. I expect there's better in a higher price range but I am not made of money.

This stuff is great for my sensitive neck area. People who say it's greasy are using way too much. You need literally a pea size amount.

  • How much are these normally? $12.95? If so not much of a saving

    • +11

Buy 100 of them and you will of saved $130.

      • +6

        will HAVE

        • Yes you are right. I keep getting this wrong even though I know it is wrong.

    • +3

Deals that get you $3 for 30 spend get 500+ votes - this in terms of percentage savings is better. Time to get excited!

    • doesn't seem like a good deal, think i bought it for $10-11 from myer a few months ago

  • +1

I personally just use the Derby shaving soap sticks.

They go for $2-3 (per 75g stick) when bought in bulk from various shaving/barber stores on eBay.

    • Derby blades are great , Proraso lasts me forever till i can get through my collection to even try the shave sticks

      • Haven't tried Derby but I have found the Dorco prime platinum blades to be very good. Only $14.90 for 100 blades on Amazon.

  • +1

Proraso is amazing, I use it with my brush and DE razor.

I use to use Gillette, but they keep increasing the blade count, are they up to 100 yet? Lol

Anyone looking for a "new cream" this is wonderful.
A fingernail size dot is enough lubrication for the whole face.

  • Good deal on the Proraso. But to throw in another suggestion of cheap shaving cream/sticks I'm surprised Arko hasn't yet been mentioned. Turkish product since 1950s, comes in at around $5 a 75g stick in eBay Amazon. I really love the smell of it.

I brought this last week along with a Gillete Double Edge safety razor and 100 Astra Blades. Definitely should earn me an ozbargain level up! Very happy overall.

    • +1

Even says so….with double hashtags front and back

      Must be legit

      • my troll ebay account has more feedback than that seller

  • Love Proraso stuff, but it's rarely on sale
