It's always the case with me. There are always abundance of deals with VPN, etc while I'm still a few months away of finishing my current contracts and when it's time to renew, guess what, there's nada. 😒

Best VPN if you like doing captchas 👌

    • You could use Bing. It sucks, but you dont get captchas.

  • So when i try to do it, it gives an option of 12 months or 24 months, no yearly subscription- is that still eligible for cashback

    • Womdering the same thing, I get 24months special price with the "CASHREWARDS" code above. Nothing in the T&C's that seems to exlcude any option from qhat I can tell. Amyone else agree/know?

      • I did 24 months and it tracked no worries so you’d likely be fine

        • Last time, I signed up as a new customer and CashRewards tracked fine,
but cashback is another issue altogether, because it can take 6+ months for SurfShark to verify your account.

          Case in point:
I still have not received my cashback.

  • What's surfshark like compared to nord VPN. I'm in no rush to buy a new VPN so was planning on nord cashrewards but have no idea what surfshark is like.

I've always used nord in the past and it's great.

Surfshark is Nord or there both owned by the same company.

      • +1

But a different app etc I'm assuming? My more literally ran out y'day so was holding out for another Nord since all my devices have the all and signed in etc… Surfahatk any better or worse?

        • Yeah that's what I want to know.

Would be same servers around the world though I'm assuming.

        • Just put of curiosity, do you notice the Nord desktop app seems to run at a very low frame rate?
I have a 144hz monitor, and as soon as I focus on the Nord app, my cursor becomes jittery, like it's running at 15-30hz.
If I select any other window that's open, it goes back to buttery smooth…
Not a deal breaker but very weird and kinda annoying.

      • That's correct, but it's not entirely fair to imply that they are the same. Yes, Nord acquired them but the two companies are run independently of each other.

      • Nord dont have serviers in few asian countries like ind, pak, srilanka, nepal…wat abt surfshark any info?…i dint know and wasted money on Nord

  • It is totalling $89.81 AUD for the 24 month plan.

Am I right in assuming 97% of the above ($87.17) will be refunded via Cash Rewards or is the above the total after all discounts?

    • Less GST I believe

    • There’s always a bit of RNG with these deals. But it’s usually pretty close, but is definitely less GST.

I signed up for this 96% cash back for NordVPN via CR. It was $US 59 which was $AU 88.62 charged to my 28 degrees CC. After subtracting GST I should have received $77.34 cash back but instead got $77.05.

Nonetheless, $11.54 for a year of a reliable and safe VPN service is fine by me.

I was charged $90.38, cashback tracked at $87.49 and I’ll get $84.86 back at the 97% rate. You can set your country to a tax free one if desired.

    • just chose a country that isn't .au or has a vat/gst and you won't pay it

  • +1

I would recommend avoiding Surfshark. I have been with them for nearly 3 years from a previous deal. Speeds are decent but their windows app is buggy and filled with bloatware. Anyone feel like having Surfshark anti-virus built into your VPN app and an unreliable kill-switch? Also increasing number of websites have their IP range blocked - even google make you do captchas.

    • Their vpn doesnt even actually work.. many apps see right through them.

      • Can you prove it? Seems like a wild claim for a service that is meant to do it's actual job.

        • Yeah i just switched from them to winscribe which has a working vpn

    • I don’t have this experience at all. I don’t have the plan with AV etc and it’s not deployed on the client.

    • You can use openvpn or wireguird app with surfshark configurations, that way no bloatware and fast experience, I have been doing it since a long time and saved myself from using their native apps.

      • same here, surfshark withn openvpn on pi-hole. Sure there had been instances that it had been slow sometimes, but a few times a year of that for this price is fine by me.

  • Works perfectly for me. Use it to watch F1TV.

    • which country do you connect to?

  • Since payment is through USD then converted back to AUD, will I get charged any international transaction fees?

    • The invoice is in USD so best to use a card that doesn’t attract international transaction fees

    Privacy is an illusion. Sigh!

    • Agree.

In fact, privacy & anonymity are 2 different things altogether.

  • +2

    Mullvad ontop

    • +2

      Mullvad really is the MVP.

  • I just signed up and no annoying captchas for Google and most of my websites. I'm pretty happy, speed seems good too.

    • So Google doesn't know there is a VPN running or there is infact a VPN not running. I'm concerned.

  • Surfshark always down based on my experience…

  • How do these vpns define new customers? based on email or address/mobile?

    • The only personal information I just gave them when I signed up was email. No mobile number or address.
You can pay by PayPal too.

      • +1

When paying by PayPal it got my address etc from it and asked me to complete the information which could not be pre-filled, in this case it was just the state lol
The payment did not go through until I selected the state so it got me thinking again if cashback would be honoured if they found another customer at the same address.

        • +1

Oh ok. I paid by master card.

And for people wanting to know, my cashrewards was tracked 29min after payment, I got a email.

  • Signed up to this just because it will only cost me $3 because of the $10 Cashrewards bonus.

But now that I'm connected, Australian cities or any country near Australia gives me an IP address in Singapore. Which means, when I play COD/BF2042, I don't get to play in Australian servers, which also means higher ping.

Anyone figured a fix for this?

EDIT: looks like this only happens when I use the desktop app. Chrome plugin works.

  • Heads up, there seems to be a number of threads complaining of both DNS and IP leaks when using Surfshark. I've noticed multiple times the Android app has reported it's connected normally but a quick check shows everything is leaking through. Have reverted back to NordVPN which never had this issue for me

    • i don't usually check but everytime i have checked nothing was leaking.. ymmv

  • Had multiple VPNs.
    Surfshark was the absolute worst.
Doesn't do what it suppose to do well.
I wouldn't take it for free. You shouldn't either.

  • Does hotstar disney+ work with the Indian VPNs Surfshark offers? This is my main use case and Nord doesn’t have any Indian servers (even virtual)
