AmEx Statement Credit: Get 20% Back at Participating Restaurants ($25 Cap Per Card) @ American Express Delicious Month Out

3470

Back again for another year! Sorry Perth folks, seems like they don't care about the restaurant scene there again. But you can use the offer if you travel east. Make sure you use the map to check whether the restaurant is participating this year as I found a restaurant that was on last year's list isn't on this year's list.

Save the offer to your eligible Card and spend in-person only at participating American Express Delicious Month Out businesses between 28/04/2023 and 31/05/2023 to get up to $25 back per Card, via a 20% credit on each transaction. Limited to the first 75,000 Cards to save the offer. Exclusions apply.

Got it on my VA Escape and QF Discovery.

Pretty pathetic to be honest. All those restaurants and a maximum $25 back total, once? AMEX offers really aren’t what they used to be.

    • +1

You can use it at multiple restaurants e.g. buy a bowl of ramen that's $20. Then another bowl at a different restaurant, etc. until you max out your $25. I think of it as a 20% discount

      • This response gave me the impression that only one transaction at each venue was allowed.
I cant confirm that impression from the available T&Cs, so I assume that multiple transactions at each venue are acceptable.

        • +1

Multiple transactions at the same restaurant are definitely allowed, going by last year

          • +8

@kerfuffle: That’s not the point, the point is only $25 cap discount per card.

            • +3

@charliechao: Which was always the case bar the first year of the promotion where it was minimum $60 spend each time and get $20 back, up to two times per card. I'd rather no minimum spend and 20% back up to $25 cap. Have three Amex primary cards so the $25 cap per card doesn't bother me.

              • +1

@kerfuffle: Even better was the Dimmi/Fork month of spending $50 with AMEX and getting $20 back and that was with Dimmi who would allow single dining with their discounts.

      • A 20% discount, with a $25 cap on the discount,
means $125 spend, to hit that cap.

For that $25 per card discount,
is the $125 spend for the entire month ?

        • +1

          Yes

          • +5

@kerfuffle: Thanks for confirming / replying.

The strategizing starts now … haha

            • 10 x $1.25 meals
            • 5 x $25 meals
            • 2 x $62.50 meals
            • 1 x $125 meal

            • +1

              @whyisave: Username strongly checks out

            • +1

              @whyisave: Should be howisave

            • +1

              @whyisave: I like your strategy 🤣
Typo in first line.. should be 10x$12.50.
Or maybe you meant 100x$1.25 for something at Maccas 😎
              Cheers
Edit: sorry, this was meant for @kerfuffle

    • Yeah. Initially I thought it was per transaction

  • +5

    Nothing in Canberra?

    • +2

Nope. Just Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide

      • plenty of regional areas too - Im in regional SA and a couple of my favourite restaurants are on there, so thanks!

    • +3

Appears to be a few in Queanbeyan/Jerra, just none in the ACT. Bit strange.

      • That’s what I found, thought it was an error. Cheers

  • +17

    Bring back Amex small shop.

    • +8

Yes shop small was good when it was $10 back on $10 spend upto 10 times! Wish they would bring back. And Vogue night prior to covid lockdown, was good

      • +1

Hmm can’t think of a reason they stopped doing that

      • +1

Great times. Especially when you could use it across all of your secondary cards as well.

For me, it was having several hundred dollars of free myki credit every November.

    • +2

I am not sure about the Amex small shop as i just joined early last year. But from my observation, many small shops displayed the amex small shop sign on the door and it turns out that these small shops stopped accepting Amex. Could be the rise in fee?

    • Now it's just Amex small discounts. Westpac and ShopBack leaves them for dead

  • Targeted?

    • +3

It's only for primary cards. You should have gotten it if you live in NSW. If you didn't get it, what card do you have?

      • +2

Why only primary cards? Amex is always asking us to signup supplementary cards, but what for if they are not getting the same offers and benefits?

        • +7

          Ask Amex.

        • +5

Possibly because they want 75000 primary card holders to get the benefit rather than just a few Ozbargainers who have multiple secondary cards each.

          • +2

@SydneySwan: Confirmed - received on primary card, but not on secondary card.

            • +1

@mshanann: It's also mentioned in the OP:

Additional Cards are not eligible for this offer.

      • +1

        found it

    • Not on supplementary card for us (Velocity)

      • This is mentioned in the OP. It's only available for primary cards.

        • +1

Got it. It's becoming hard to justify Amex fees and being rejected when trying to use it again and again.

Maybe they've had a change in local management which could explain why it's so bad now.

    • +1

      The cap was always $25.

      • -3

I'm comparing to Shop Small. Thank you though.

        • +5

Maybe say that in your comment then?

Only the first year was it $60 spend and get $20 back, up to two times. Everything after that has been $25 cap for this offer (which is not Shop Small).

I much prefer this offer as a solo diner, it's rare I spend $60 on one meal.

    • +2

I got lucky - still rocking the bmw amex deal from 2010 with no fees - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36090

      • You still get qff points on this? I had this but they converted it to a standard gold Amex years ago. Still fee free, and Amex rewards points tho.

        • Mine was setup with regular award points from the start rather than qantas. It did convert as you said a few years back to just normal gold card - but still no fees for life.

          • @mshanann: I have had the regular gold card since 1999 and have paid no annual fee in all that time.

      • Wow… surely they’ve changed the points earn rate in that time?

      • epic

      • how is it diff to the qantas amex?

  • +1

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Yep, primary card only is sad, but something better than nothing. And it's better than using the discounted ColesMC/VanillaVisa cards :)

  • Some of my usual places are not on the list this year. I guess it’s an excuse to try new ones.

    • +2

SydneySwan mentioned on another forum that he got a qualifying e-mail despite the place they used their Amex at not being on the list.

  • Didn't receive and only have a single AMEX Platinum Edge Card?

    • What state do you live in?

      • NSW.

        • Weird. You should have gotten it. Maybe try again later. Wordsmith initially couldn't find their offer, but located it later

  • Map shows only Sydney restaurants?

    • +1

      Change your location.

      • Only 10 pages in results how to get all locations?

  • No Perth :(

Can’t even save it to my card

    • +3

Amex thinks WA is still in lockdown.

      • +1

And that everyone is in Sydney (going by how they setup their map each year)

  • +1

Pretty cool, no minimum spend. Just need to remember to check, unless it is your everyday card anyway, a nice little surprise.

  • any accor restaurants?

  • +4

Gosh the map website is shit. I looked up Parramatta 2150 and the map is still showing places that have the same street names both in Parramatta and the CBD?
e.g. the map thinks that a restaurant is on George St in Parramatta and puts a pin there despite the street being all residential. The address is for George St in Sydney though. Baffling coding.

    • +2

Yep it really sucks and has always sucked.

    • I'm in south-west Sydney and I'm getting a result for a West Gosford restaurant …

  • +3

25 cap is kind of low…

  • +1

There's a whole bunch of pubs/'hotels' in there too. 20% discount on a round is pretty good. Explore the map in the app.

  • Perth :(

  • +1

$25 cap is really low, after seeing the participating restaurants list

  • You need to use the physical card yeah, meaning it won't work if you use it through Wallet or Google Pay right?

    • Apple Wallet or G Pay is fine. They mean you won't be able to use (for example) Mr Yum to order via QR code and get the credit

      • I've had a fuel offer rejected before because I used my card via Google Pay
And on the terms it says "payment must not be done via a payment provider" or something similar.

        • I've never heard of that before. What company was that that rejected it?

      • @kerfuffle
How do we get Mr Yum credit?

        • -1

          You don't. Read the comment.

  • +1

I recall one year that restaurants offered 20% off May bookings so there was a double incentive. Can’t see it now yet

    https://www.delicious.com.au/delicious-month-out

    • +1

Monopole (and other restaurants in Bentley Group) had 30% off last year, but they don't seem to be part of Delicious Month Out this year. Not that it worked last year at Monopole much to my chagrin

  • Nice! Just got this for lunch from Brooklyn depot. Had already forgotten about the promotion so was a bonus

This chrome extension will show you the names of all the places that are hidden underneath each other if you're searching in the CBD.
It's a little tricky to use. You may need to press the refresh button a few times first.

    On the AEDMO map,
in Sydney, in between Marsfield and North Ryde,
near corner of Tallwood Avenue & Bridge Road,
there's a restaurant named "Gwylo"… that sounds a bit rude!

    Also, it's listed in Sydney,
    when it's actual address is:

    85 Tallwood Avenue,
    Mollymook Beach,
    NSW 2539

  • +5

Found that McDonald’s is on the participating list.

Will buy the $6.9 Small Big Mac Meal w/ Cheeseburger next week with my Amex card to bring it down to $5.5 :D

  • +1

    Nice deal, thank you.

  • Excellent deal!

  • +1

    thank you for sharing Kerfuffl

  • Not on Velocity Escape primary card :(

    • I got it on mine

  • +1

Sorry Perth folks, seems like they don't care about the restaurant scene there again.

i live in Perth and i don't blame them :D

    • +1

      me too…

  • +1

Nothing in the whole of Assmania either

  • It's weird but I'm struggling to find any Fork restaurants which have a 30-50% off deal and also have the AmEx deal in Victoria. Was hoping that my usual 50% off favs also did AmEx but so far nothing. Anyone else have better luck?

  • +1

So annoyed when the restaurant listed on the AMEX site (map) said they did NOT accept AMEX when I paid the bill after spending $100 there!

    • +3

Contact AMEX they will credit the bonus to you. At least they have in the past.
