Alienware AW3423DW 34" Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor $1679 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

90

Decided to bite the bullet after it went on sale again since March. Same price as before but I was able to chat with JB rep online and they brought the price down to $1609 for me and another $10 down after bundling with another item so extra $79 savings on top of the "$420 off" (nice)

Monitor has the new firmware, manufactured in Feb 2023. There's definitely some fan noise especially if your PC is water-cooled and a bit or weird flickering in certain HDR scenes, ABL is indeed somewhat aggressive for desktop HDR use but it absolutely lives up to its hype in terms of HDR1000, colours and just overall quality. Reviews cover everything I guess. Cyberpunk 2077 looks sick in HDR + RTX overdrive on these QD-OLEDs. The fringing is there but not too bad imo.

DWF is not on sale at this time so for $1600 this puts it as a cheaper option compared to it (and comes with gsync)

RGB software is very meh but not the worst I've used I guess.

P.S. This model also regularly goes on discount at the Dell outlet (refurbished though) for $1499 if you want to save another $100.

    Obligatory Muzeeb mention.

I've seen usermentions going a few deals back but what's the story here? Lol

      • +3

Basically to keep it short dell made a price error and monitors that were $2200 were $200. Anyway, may orders were canceled due to it being price error but if it was reconfirmed by a agent i would go through. And many people had Muzeeb confirm it for them

Oh damn, that's awesome lol. Doubt that will ever happen again :P

          • +3

@drasticmeasures1337: Yeah! The thing is dell was contemplating on whether or not to honor them and they we leaning to honouring it, but then they choose not too as it excced their stock supply

Manually approved a price error past dell’s auto flagging measures, getting cheap monitors into the hands of ozbargainers, one ozbargainer got 3 of these QD oled monitors for 250 bucks a pop

        • +1

it wasnt the QD OLED, it was the AW38.

      • +2

There was a price error on one of Dell's 34" UW monitor for like $300 or something and it got ozbargained. Poverty scrubs got angry saying Dell was legal obligated to honor the price and it was illegal to cancel the orders lmao.

  • daaaaamn… thought this was AW3821DW when I first saw it. got excited.

This is a newer monitor. 34 inch tho. QD Oled screen tho instead of IPS.

      • +2

yeah.. i know, the picture is very very good… but i dont want 34"

        I want the 38"

Are there any monitors like this but 4k oled with high refresh rate?

    • +3

If you're after a 4k and not ultrawide, you could look at LG CX/C1/C2 but they're 42-48 inches minimum I guess (they go up to 120Hz with Freesync)

  • Been using this since launch as my work monitor. I do have the task bar causing image retention, but the warranty covers burn in. I'll be claiming it under warranty.

    • would you reccomend using the hide task bar option then?

dwf is 1531 with auaffiliate and k12 codes on dell. not a deal afaik

    • +1

Can you explain those codes, how do we get those?

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/760314
it says expired but after checking just now, it still applies successfully in cart for me.
k12 code is just student discount code, after signing up with student email. i think there are workarounds on ozb but i didnt have to.
just two codes to bring down the dwf from 1698 to 1531.
of course, it's not on sale, so if these codes are still working AND we get a sale sometime soon, it could become a much better price.

    • Yeah but this isn't the DWF, this is DW. Also need to jump through some email hoops. 1531 is a good price for DWF but I don't think it's the lowest either?

  • Be tempted if was DWF it's just a better choice overall and with OLEDs insane pixel response there is no need for the variable overdrive that a dedicated G-sync provides.

    • At this price, DW vs the DWF these are a really tough choice to get one over the other.

While sure no need, the HDR curve is just bad on the DWF and this one doesn't have the issue. Also higher supported max refresh rate. Neither is perfect.

  • Is this the same model available on Amazon for $1679?

    • Yep Amazon price matched this as usual. But JB ended up being cheaper and I was able to pick it up same day.

I think only Dell sells the DWF version?

    • Misread this earlier. Yes I was referring to the Dell website, it's only available there.

  • Expired? Back to 2099. Was going to buy…

    • Thanks for the heads up, expired the deal, it will go down in a bit again for sure

  • Shows $2099 now
