This run's Samsung Tizen OS, which has limited apps compared to the unified Tizen & WearOS running on Watch4 and Watch5. Battery life is still pretty short, maybe 2-3 days.
Samsung did add new features to the watch as late as 2022 though although it's anyone's guess how much longer Samsung developers will continue taking care of Tizen users.
I actually preferred tizen over the current state of wearos. Neither are great though.

Better value with Watch 4 deals lately, so not a great deal. I upgraded to Watch 5, Wear OS is streets ahead of Tizen (shudder). Not worth it IMHO.

Its not a great deal however only positive could be that - this is the last samsung watch version that works with iPhone (opinion basd on a quick research).
I still own the watch 3 and in my opinion is still a nicer watch than 4 + newer. I actually think it's the last good watch from Samsung. Don't like their newer designs. And Tizen works beautifully on it. Bought my 3 on launch and still amazing.
I have the 44mm and still get over 2 days battery.. this is for an over 3 year old device

I agree with maverickjohn as I have the Watch 3 and have found it very good. It tell me the time, emails, messages, BPM, BP, Atrial defib, the date, calendar, camera stills, photos, the list goes on. I cannot think what more a newer watch can provide. I never wear a watch at night so it gets charged, no problem. Not saying whether this is a bargain but don't knock my watch!
I actually prefer tizen as its esim can be hacked to work as indepedent phone
