Doesn't that defeat the purpose of buying pods? I don't get how this is less troublesome than grinding your own coffee and making it on the spot? Also I'm not sure how good the tamp is (since I don't see a tamping device).

So 10 capsules cost $22.50 plus the cost of coffee plus the sheer annoyance of washing and refilling. I'd rather pay $6 for 16 pods at Aldi.

    • Aldi unit takes different pods anyway bub… get with the program.

  • Correct me if im wrong but the cart and payment page dont appear to be SSL?

    • ever heard of paypal?

The concept doesn't make sense at all, unless you inherited one of those machines and have a lot of ground coffee. And have time on your hands.

  • I think this is a standard price on eBay

  • I've used refillables previously - savings are around $250 to $300 a year over Nespresso pods, and takes about 20 minutes to clean and prepare a fortnights worth of pods (20 pods), making it about 9 hours work a year.

You can use whatever coffee you want too, which is a bonus.

I find the compatibles at around 55 cents a pod are a good balance between these refillables and the Nespresso pods.

As Doey21 said - it defeats the purpose. People buy pod machines for the convenience. I want to be able to have coffee any time I want, without tha hassle of preparation or cleanup. Call me lazy, but that is why pod systems were put in place and it works great. I am almost fed up with filling up the water :-) (ok, joking, but hey if it could be put on the water tap…)
Haven't tried the compatibles as yet, are they reasonable good quality?

      • The 1882 capsules from Officeworks are decent, as are the Espressoland capsules.

My wife doesn't like the Espressoland capsules, but we're both happy with the 1882 capsules from Officeworks.

We'll definitely be picking up more 1882 capsules, but no more Espressoland ones.

        • Ahahah
how much 1882 pay to you?

          Not enough… Clearly.
One negative vote for being honest…
          Wow…

I really have to remember to put on my politician hat on this site.

        • Be Honest…!

        • Hello Auslade,
Can you please advise where/when did you buy Espressoland capsules.
Don't hesitate to contact me through the messaging system of Ozbargain.
          thank you

It makes sense if you don't like having stale coffee.
But pod machines are just stupid to begin with.

    • They are for lazy people. I used to have a "proper" coffee machine, end up not using it as often, as being put off by the cleaning afterwards. Since I got the Nespresso I stopped using the traditional machine completely. It gives me relatively good coffee every time with absolutely zero work overhead. I do understand people who would not like it and have a friend who roast his beans, grinds them and has very strict rules on how long they can be roasted, etc. It is arguably better coffee, however I am not such a degustator to do all this just for a cup of coffee.
May not be perfect, but it is good enough :-)

Stupid, why? I drink black coffee only, and my Nespresso machine produces great consistent coffee. Alternatively, I'd say at least 50% of the time I order from a cafe (using fancy manual machine), the coffee is burnt and just awful. I just love paying $4 a pot for it too.

I am also the only coffee drinker in the house so keeping either beans or grounds on hand for lengthy periods is stupid.

I just love self proclaimed 'coffee snobs' who drink either Latte (especially), cappuccino or flat white. Most wouldn't know the diff between Nespresso, instant or manual machine.

      • I'm surprised you say that, coming from Melbourne. The coffee I drank (particularly in the city) has been fantastic. I'm a macchiato fan myself and rarely experienced a burnt coffee.

I have a machine at home (inbuilt grinder) and I find it much more versatile than the work one (pod). Most decent machines these days clean themselves pretty well too. The biggest issue has been with calcification which I don't think the pod machines are any different anyway.

So from there web site it look like you can only use them 30 times?
    "10 Capsule Cups / 1 Cup = 30 Uses"
If so, that equals 10c each use at the normal price!
And who's going to keep track of how many times each one has been used?
