      Duct tape

  • Thx op, puchased one.

  • Anyone used as client for Moonlight / Gamestream instead of Nvidia Shield? Wonder what the latency would be at 4k/60

    • Equivalent to a steam link. You need an Nvidia GPU for NVENC and you need a proper GPU for H.265/HDR.

      • I mean connected to the tv. Streaming from my gaming PC to the optiplex to decode. My fire stick 4k max can do 4k/60 with 5ms delay, Shield about 2ms and some NUC can do 0.5ms.

        • I don't think you can gamestream with NVENC (low latency)/to a client without an Nvidia GPU regardless if the host is an Nvidia system. It will basically be no different than your fire stick.

  • Do you think this will play League or Legends? 🤔

    • I'm not expert but I don't think League of Legends is very demanding on hardware. This doesn't have a graphics card though and with the micro form factor it might be a problem installing one later. Maybe look at a SFF (Small Form Factor) which could be easier to add a graphics card to.

  • Anyone have a 7700T (yes T model) gathering dust? Please PM.

Any <$150 recommendations for a SFF or USFF low power system as a Media Centre/streaming box?

I was about to pull the trigger on one but after looking at the previous post and reading some of the comments, I decided to message the seller on ebay to confirm whether or not these units come with the in-built ac wifi with antenna and bluetooth, this was the response:

"None of our micro units have Bluetooth functionality. These units either come with a WiFi antenna or a USB WiFi adapter."

Can the store rep on ozb confirm?

    • normally the wifi and bluetooth funtionalities are bundled together on a single chip, so if they don't have bluetooth, I suspect they dont have built-in wifi. Instead you will receive a generic/cheap wifi dongle for wifi connectivity.

      • That's a bit misleading on their part and should probably be mentioned in the description of the deal, there could also be a chance that the ebay rep didn't have much idea of what was actually in those units though.

Anyone actually got their units from this current deal able to check what they got?

  • Do these support HDMI CEC? If not, is there any mini pc that does?

With previous NUC types, I have had issues with feedback coming through my sub/speakers as a result of having a pc connected to my amp via HDMI. If i use a power filter into the sub it stops it, but this reduces the subs output

  • Can anyone confirm if the units they got had built-in wifi and Bluetooth?

    • Mine came with the wifi card, but no antenna (but I wouldn't use anyway). I think the same card offers the bluetooth.

    • I just received mine today. It comes with an m.2 wifi card and the antenna. Wifi and bluetooth are working fine.

    • I cant comment on lag as I'm not gaming but I'm using one of the Wavlink Active DP to HDMI Adapters you listed to hook up to an old HDMI only monitor, works find for me. No noticeable lag doing ordinary office stuff

  • Is there any tool to test these used computer?

    • +1

You can run stress tests to see if the parts have any damage. But basically as long as they turn on, they should be fine. Degradation of the hard drive is probably the only concern, but that’s an easy fix if need be.

  • I am using education version of Windows, I plan on buying this but I want to use it as a Linux box, could I somehow use the Windows key from this for my main PC?

    • Unlikely. The key will almost certainly be tied to the bios.

If you want a cheap windows key you can buy one from somewhere like Electronic First. They are OEM keys, so you need to enter the key when installing windows and not after and you’re good to go. Costs around $10 for a Win11 Pro key. I’ve used several for years without any issues

$10?! Thanks, I'll look into it

        • Prices go up and down but roughly around that, yep. No problem.

  • Anyone tried connecting 4 controllers over bluetooth? I Seem to have trouble with more than 2.
