  • Thanks! Just wonder how to price match at officework? Print out the online category and bring with you? Do officework price match with online price?

    • they should price match the online price since you can buy it online from HT and you can pick it up from the Business Centre (at least if you are in VIC, NSW, QLD), so no need to pay delivery fees. just a print out of the HT page should do.

  • hmm.. will the redemption still work? the item is a V2, yet they ask you to select the V3 on the MS redemption site… that site also lists:

    Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 v3 $149.95 $40.00 (rrp/cashback)…

    • if HT says to select V3 for cashback and also officeworks lists V2 with $40 cashback, it will definetely work. if you want to be 100% sure, you can call Microsoft on 13 20 58.

      • cheers, sounds great… i'd pay $19 for the mouse, great deal.. !

        • Special Instructions: At the redemption website, customers must select Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop V3 from the 'Product List' or Other in order to claim the $40 cashback for this product.

          • @Blinda: I highly doubt you can claim V3 cashback with V2 purchase, V3 are going at significantly higher price than V2

              • @Blinda: OfficeWorks is famous for misprint, hence all the crazy below cost bargains we used to get. If this is a statement from Microsoft then it is a different story.

                • @Noslee: Verified with MS Cashback, V2 is OK to get $40. Officeworks will not match HT price, since price is online only and Officeworks provide free delivery. Get from HT store if you can.

  • i buy it…. looks good to me

  • I just bought one. $19 is too hard to resist. If the redemption doesnt work, I will just complain to HT.

  • Good price but I hate these ergonomic keyboards - do MS make a standard straight one thats in this deal?

  • Max Operating DistanceUp to 1.8 m
    Not enough for operating HTPC.
Still a good deal, hard to resist

  • i bought another one…. i ended up with two for 38$ good one

  • dansor…u are like the ultimate bargain hunter! first the vostro then this. good deal

    • Yup. dansor da man! Thanks for finding this great deal!

  • i've been to 2 different officeworks and neither of them have this model, also went to bing lee and tandy. NOPE.

I might just get it shipped from ht.com.au and pay the $10 and save myself the hassle.

so can anyone tell me where can i buy this in sydney
i dont wanna pay $10 shipping

      • I picked mine up from CBD store 2 days ago. I called up a few officeworks stores and most were sold out (and deleted from their inventory). However they did say they had plenty over at Blacktown. At the time of query there was 66 remaining in NSW, not sure if that's still the case anymore though.

        • Just called the Blacktown Oficeworks… out of stock

  • Just picked one up from the Indooroopilly HT shop up here in Brissy on the way back from work. They've got 9 left now, sitting right in front of the door as you walk in. Guess they wanna get rid of it to make way for the V3? Using it now… they're not bad, not a fan of AA batteries but for $19 I'll put up with it. Although now I have to post this damned paperwork… gah. Snailmail FTL.

  • thanks monkey. i might drop by the indro store tonight and pick up one or 3. as long as other ozbargainers havent cleaned them out yet :)

  • altho after using it last night i gotta say, its one of the biggest frikken keyboards I ever had… its like playing a grand piano.

Might wait for the desktop 8000 to drop in price a bit and upgrade.

  • haha monkey, that's funny. might drop by the store tomorrow to check it out.

  • i talked to a guy at Harris technology. they said the $40 cashback was a misprint. Does anyone know anything about that. Sounds like a mini dell.

  • Wasn't a misprint, was quite intentional. In any case, I got a screenshot of their website with the instructions and included it with the cashback code.

  • Looks like the item is no longer available on the HT site.

    "Product Not Found

The product you are trying to view is no longer available.

You will now be redirected to the homepage of ht.com.au. If you are not redirected in a few seconds, please click here."

    • Ahh, I was just about to grab a screenshot in case Microsoft didn't accept the cashback. Can someone plz post a link to a screenshot they took before HT took the product off their site? I haven't sent mine yet so if anyone has any success getting the cashback, plz let us know also.

  • Bad news. I sent an Email to Microsoft support couple of days ago to ask them whether the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000v2 set is eligible for the $40 cash back. The answer is no. I attached email below.

    Dear Ronnie,

Warm greetings from Microsoft Customer Service Australia. My name is Kelvin.

As I understand it, you would like to know whether the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000v2 set is eligible for the $40 cash back. You noticed in Harris Technology website notify that you can redeem the $40 cash back for the v2 set. If my interpretation is incorrect, please let me know.

Ronnie, unfortunately, only the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000v3 is eligible for the $40 cash back. For further clarification, please contact our Partner, Promtel. Promtel is working with Microsoft to organise the promotion and they have the necessary resources to assist further.

You can reach them by phone at 1800 233 033.

I hope I was able to address your enquiry to your satisfaction. Should you have further questions relating to this enquiry or any additional enquiries, please let me know.

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft.

    Kind regards,

    • Has anyone followed this up with Promtel as suggested?

  • That is bad news, I ordered one from HT, but have not picked it up yet. Can I just cancel the order by phone or I still have to come to HT for refund.

    • If you paid via CC, I can't see why you couldn't call them to cancel/refund the purchase. They may need to confirm details prior though. Just explain why (false or mis-information on their part regarding the cash-back).

  • Well I just got off the phone from Microsoft and the initial answer from the customer service rep (Adam?) was no but after confirming with his supervisor, the answer was yes, the cashback is valid. Some conflicting info from microsoft it seems.

edit: Just called promtel (emma) on 1800 233 033, and they confirmed that the cashback is valid, just choose V3 instead of V2 when you input the info on the cashback webstite. Can someone please confirm this too.

  • promotion and rebate is from Promtel, not Microshaft… which is where the confusion arises. The call centre at MS probably has no clue as to the finer details, they just read off the T&C to you.

    • just to update… got this from HT sales today:

We have been advised by Microsoft that they will honour the cash back offer on this item.

Please let me know if you have any further issues.

      Best regards,

  • YEAH….Just called Promtel, the lady told me YES we can get $40 cash back. Just pick V3 when you claim.

    • Thanks for that info.

  • HT link is down, but Officeworks are still doing this deal. On the Officeworks website it says:

Purchase this Microsoft Keyboard/Mouse Bundle between 30/10/2008 and 31/01/2009 & receive a $40 Cashback via redemption from Microsoft.
Special Instructions: At the redemption website, customers must select Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop V3 from the 'Product List' or Other in order to claim the $40 cashback for this product.

So they are advising you to do what Promtel have. Officeworks also says online only, however I called up and got the same price, they also have them in stock. Picking mine up this arvo.

    Thanks for the deal!

  • Great Bargain!

Just want to know, how good is the keyboard and Mouse? My friend is telling me not to get it because the mouse is bad. He said it lags up to 0.5 seconds. I am a casual RTS gamer, and that still doesn't look good. I'll be downgrading from a logitech G5, so while I am not expecting the mouse to be FANTASTIC, it shouldn't be downright crap either.

  • Don't even bother if you're getting it for gaming. Its claims to be a 1000dpi mouse, but there's a huge difference between it and the 1200dpi wired razer gaming mouse I've got. This unit's great for home/office use… not for gaming.

    • Hey funkymonkey. The keyboard + mouse will not be used purely for gaming.

I am currently using a logitech G5, which has 2000dpi. But even a gaming mouse, I cannot snipe in FPS :S. So I am not so disadvantaged with the mouse quality.

On the other hand, the reviews for the mouse ranges from pretty good to teh suck. So I really want to know a bit more of the mouse. Is this laser mouse at least as good as a $5~$10 no brand wired optical mouse in all aspect? The last thing I want is the mouse doesn't move smoothly or some noticeable delays with the movement or clicks.

      • well if you switch off the interpolation and acceleration in windows, then it works like any ordinary wired optical mouse, so its not that bad.

If you wanna improve your accuracy in FPS games, then check out this guide.

  • sorry to bring old thread back, anybody got the cashback from ms (promtel) yet? i sent the cashback for the keyboard with the lifechat lx3000 and when i checked my netbank today, they transferred me on 18/12 the cashback for the lx3000 only which is $15. no news for the keyboard yet……….

    • you are lucky, I haven't got any response for 2 months.

    • Got $40 back on 18/12/2008

      Transaction was marked:
      PROM TEL PL
      CASHBACK DOUBLE TA

  • how do I check if they deal with my claim?

  • Bought 2 and got both cashbacks back in the same transaction ($80)
