Yeah when , black friday lol

Not cheap at all on eBay at the moment (like >90$), and the next cheapest was a dodgy seller who never replies or honors the sale.

~$70-80 is still fine if you need one, hard even selling them for $65 last time I had a spare one

  • Would this useful if my TV only full HD?
I am using the HD version at the moment.

    • Not unless you think you might upgrade soon. HD version often around $30-$40 cheaper.

the 4K version has faster cpu and larger ram , meaning less lag

Got both Google TV 4k and Firestick 4k Max at home and have to say the Firestick is snappier and cheaper atm @ $59.

Unless you are really tied to Google services I'd go with the Firestick. YMMV.

I got my last 4k google tv at 59.
I like the ui of google better but both work about same imo

I bought a Firestick for my parents and was dissapointed to find out there was no Binge app. I was also hoping they could use my Amazon account for Prime Video, but this requires signing the Firestick itself into my account rather than just the app.
For these reasons I might pull the trigger on the Chromecast as a Mother's Day gift.

Get Downloader on the Amazon app store, enable unknown app install for it. Navigate to a site like APKMirror, then just grab and install the AndroidTV version of Binge, or any app that's missing.

So long as you're getting the AndroidTV version, it works identically, just doesn't have clean looking icon in the menu UI. You'll also have to manually update from time to time, but you can bookmark the APK pages.

There are other clever things you can do with the Google TV like setting up speaker groups if you want to extend your listening into other rooms etc so yeah if you already have google as your primary ecosystem this is a no brainer.

    • I have the same experience with Chromecast.

It was snappy when I first bought it last year.

But since the latest update it has been really laggy.

Can't recommend this to anyone. I'd rather spend $100 more on an Apple TV for better experience.

Try doing a reset or at least reboot from time to time.

Then you need apple id and may as well get an iPhone and MacBook Pro.. start the beast rolling.

        • I already have iphone ipad imac and macbook, time to complete the lot lol

          • @Max999: No brainer in your case.
Kind of nice to choose one ecosystem or the other ;). I don't even want any Amazon devices particularly.

      • PS. Mine went a bit funny after doing an update once, can't pin the issues to the soundbar, the HDMI cable or the device but got a new one to test.

        • Sometimes (not often) the screen dims too much
        • lose sound when changing between apps or fast forwarding etc. This one is a bit annoying but cycling through the sound modes on the soundbar fixes it. The HBO app is side loaded, but some apps may treat Dolby Digital different but tried the various settings.
        • there is static noise on presses when navigating using the remote.
      • did you buy HD or 4K version?

I know HD version has slower cpu and 0.5gb less ram and lag.

        • 4k version.

  • Does anyone know of an alternate tv remote for this? You can buy replacements from google for around $30, but my dog keeps chewing on them… Trying to find a cheaper option.

    • The Google Home app lets you control it from your phone.

    • no way, but you can buy HD version for $40, then sell HD version box for $25, then keep the remote for $15

i will take hd version box, if you do like this way.

Put a muzzle on your dog. They get used to it and it doesn't hurt them.

Hey Ozb, so i keep buying a new remote and my dog just keeps on chewing it….whatever should I do guys? Please help me think of something, but it can't be logical or rational because it will hurt my feelings and that of my dog.

        • guess put the mutt outside or leave things out of reach!

  • Got them for 70$ from Lakemba Shops 2wks ago. Not very happy that they only 4GB memory…

    • +1

      8GB, 5GB usable.
Not really enough either way to put a heap of emulator games and stuff on but you can set up Nas and stream everything else.

      • How do you get 8GB? I Mine is 4GB

    • is this a german version now is $69

      • Huh lol

  • +1

$79 at the good guys with 11% cashback 6pm today.
About the same as eBay cc.

    $69 C&C eBay, had a $10 off code.

    • shit, just bought with 10% code

      • Still good Deal

  • Hey does anyone know if this will kayo with less frame stutters than my cheap TLC tv baked in android tv? F1 is so jittery on my tv . I think it's because the processor is shit. Would this bypass the issue?

    • +1

Kayo good and the app works

    • I'm gonna try the same thing, my Sony x9000f (2019 tv) Kayo app is terrible now, never used to be.
