I bought the bandsaw and the belt/disc sander last year. Wouldn't recommend the bandsaw, it vibrates and bounces all over the place. I upgraded to a small Carbatec recently, much nicer although admittedly three times the price. But I don't regret buying the Aldi one, it was enough to prove that I'd get the use out of a bandsaw and the upgrade was justified.

The sander is OK, I use it fairly regularly. The dust extraction port on the belt side is in a pretty crap position, that's my major gripe with it.

    • Yes I second that, the bandsaw is rubbish.

    • What bandsaw did you go for guyvb? Was it the 8 inch or the 10inch FERREX?

Also which size Carbatec did you go for?

In the market for a bandsaw but looks like need to spend at least 1000-1500 for half-decent 12 incher

      • 8 inch in both cases for me.
Based on the quality of the 8" Carbatec, I'd imagine you couldn't go wrong with their larger units.

        • Thanks 👍

Did you try changing the blade on Aldi or was it stock standard

I wonder what Bunnos will offer up against this set - seems like a crack at their core business

    • Not sure about Bunnings but I seem to recall that Supercheap Auto dropped the price on their TooPRO screwdriver set when Aldi had a similar promotion a year or two ago.

      • Supercheap has a similar toolpro set on sale for $35,couldn't see anything about warranty but some of the toolpro stuff comes with a lifetime warranty.

If you're chewing through 20 screwdriver handles, maybe you're not using the right tool for the job?

  • I picked up the same screwdriver set from Repco a couple of years ago for the same price. Pretty good for the "indoor DIY modding" jobs but I would never use them on the car.

  • I have Kmart and SCA screwdrivers, they both feel really cheap. Is this any better?

  • Lttstore.com… Lol

    Rubbish.

  • Kitchen drawer screw driver set, wouldn't have it in the garage or main tool box but great to have a set inside the house for changing batteries on toys, adjusting a cabinet hinge, etc…

Saying that this is what we have in the kitchen drawer

and a cheap ali express screw driver with all weird bits which hold up to light use.
