  • Typo in title. Should be 20000mah

    • +1

      Thanks, title updated.

  • How heavy is it?

  • -5

    its heavy
stops working after 8 months and dead after a year

    • +4

Had mine for over 3 years, still works like a treat. Found the most use during COVID when I could recharge my laptop in a room with no outlets.

      • +1

Same mine lasted a good 3 years before going dead.

And I used that thing every single day

    • +1

I have an old Xiaomi 10,000mah power bank that still works from 2016

  • Dimensions? Looks pretty thick. although I've yet to find a 20000mah that is not that thick

    • anker? my anker 20k mah is reasonably slim.

      • do you have a link?

        • +1

ozb removed the link, ill try again. Mine looks something like this i don't think you can get any slimmer with 20k mah banks, unless you go for a goofy one like below which just shifts dimensions and makes it wider, worse IMO.

          • +1

@Wimothy Jongingtons: That's an 18W power bank, so not directly comparable to a 50W one that can do 20V charging.

Don't get me wrong, Anker make great gear. But the high power charging circuitry and extra USB port take up space. 4.3% increase in volume in this case, which is actually pretty minor!

It works the other way too - Anker have/had a similar looking 15W 20k power bank which is significantly lower volume. Thinner (19.2mm!) and shorter - albeit 0.5mm wider.

For 18W, 20k, ~300 cubic centimeters is pretty typical, and there are various models that push slightly thinner without adding to the other dimensions more than a few millimeters.

Power banks that are significantly smaller / thinner typically opt for a metal case to remove some bulk. My favourite from a few years back was the Xiaomi ZMI QB823 Kogan $20 deal. So compact (21mm thick), and 45W output (65W total).

            • @Prong: I see, thanks for the info. I believe I have a 60W output anker battery, but I couldn't find the link, so I linked the 18W one just to show size.

Baseus have one. The 100w Blade model is 1.8cm thick, and currently on sale for $70.54 if you have eBay Plus. That's an excellent deal, as last month when it was on sale it was $76.79.

i might be too picky but youre just shifting one dimension to the other

        • +1

I have one of these blades (paid $82 last month) and the dimensions are a bit awkward for me, but it powers laptops no problem. (I bought this Xiaomi deal to replace it as I prefer the smaller footprint)
The blade reminds me of a portable DVD - it is the same size/bulk as that.

        • +1

Yep. At a certain point, minimum total volume can't get any smaller for a given capacity. It's mostly limited by the density of the actual cells of the battery.

Some manufacturers are better at packing it all in tightly with no wasted space. But any of these better quality models have very similar volume and weight. (Assuming comparing same spec. Higher output, more ports, screens etc will increase the volume)

If you want a lot smaller overall then you need to opt for a lower capacity.

The advantage IMO of the Baseus Blade is that it slots into a laptop bag etc in a much neater way than a thicker power bank. A quick calc shows it's about 30% bigger than the Mi power bank in this deal. But does have much higher spec output etc

In a different bag or usage, a different style might be much better.

For example, the Baseus 65W 20,000mAh power bank is about 15% smaller than the Mi one. It has better spec too, but is currently more expensive. But it was just $48 in that recent deal.

@Prong: Good point. Different dimensions for different applications. Totally agree about the minimum volume as well. Until battery tech gets better then volume wont get lower anytime soon.

  • Is it USB C input for charging the battery bank?

    • Yes the Type-C port is also used to charge the power bank.

    • -1

portable batteries dont charge laptops in my experience.

      • +3

I have the romoss 50w. It charges my surface book 3. Not the fastest though

      • +1

My Xiaomi ZMI QB823 20000mAh 65W Power Bank Pro wants to have a chat.

        • Awesome. Glad to be corrected because I want a powerbank that charges lappy.

    • +2

i reckon it should, pages for this power bank say 50W output so I'm assuming it at least has USB-C PD, though for that laptop at least it'll charge a little bit slower than the provided 65W charger

    • +3

It should as this powerbank supports USB PD, but at a much slower rate of 45W instead of 65W. I use the 45W version and it charges my HP Elitebook through the thunderbolt port.

    • +1

I've had this charger for 3 years and still going strong. Charges my Asus Zenbook no problem… I've taken it overseas a few times and it's never let me down charging my laptop, phone and headsets..

It's a great price at the moment so bought another one for the wife.

  • So this supports PD charging
    I'm tempted

  • Excellent product.

  • +1

Got the Xiaomi 20000mAh 2C USB 3.0 18W for 5 years now, dropped in water once, died for a few days, then survived and charged ok since. Only paid $38 back then in 2018

  • +1
  • Anyone know if this supports PPS?

  • Do you have the 10,000 one?

  • Good power bank, I have 4.
One is about 3 years old, three are about a year old.

One has an issue where it won’t charge at 45W anymore, and shuts off. I’ve marked which one it is, so if i need to charge a laptop I don’t use it, it could be the one that’s 3 years old, or it could be one of the newer ones, i have no way to tell.

  • Anyone have a 2021 M1 Macbook Pro and can tell me if it will charge it? I know 65w is no problem… but 50W?
