Sorry … I can't recommend anything from DWI. They lost my 2000$ camera lens. Instead of communicating with me and finding a solution they blocked me on facebook and ignored all my emails. Fedex told me that they paid the maximum insurance of 100$ to DWI. So they made profit on my lens and got a 100$extra because I did not receive it. Beware of DWI!

The prices look good but you will deal with one of the worst customer services I experienced in my life.

(Nothing against your first post … welcome to OZbargain :-) This is just a warning about DWI. I am not commenting on the price … DWI is usually good value and I bought a lot … but when something goes wrong you are stuffed)

Checking the price: www.cameraparadise.com.au might be cheaper … AU$ 521.72 as I see it (when you use the 10$ voucher and add shipping) … you still need to add the paypal fee and insurance (as you would need to do with DWI)

    • That's bad..why don't u give them a call o threaten them to go fair trading, but I wonder they hav an ABN no.
I've bought few lenses frm them never had any trouble but I do know few of my friends complaining abt their service..

Im on a dispute with them regarding warranty issues as we speak. Service is extremely poor, they won't respond unless you ring them up. Pay extra for local warranty if you're spending this much money. $90 extra is worth it when your warranty is free (DWI WILL make you pay for everything, they have to be able to "replicate" the issue or you pay for repairs).

        Stay away.

      1. PayPal dispute; or
      2. Credit card chargeback.

      Unless you did direct deposit…

I've brought a bunch of stuff from DWI before without any problems. I did however take note of what some people have been saying and I've always taken the 2% hit and used a credit card so that I'd have some recourse if something went wrong.

    • Have you talked to their new Whirlpool Rep? He seems quite active, at least for now.

They didn't ship me the Extended warranty card last time when I purchased a $2000 lens from them.
Go thought with their e-mail support (they don't have a phone number!), they replied me once a day and asked me to take pictures for the whole packing I received.
After a week e-mail talking, they said they need to check with the warehouse.
After 3 days they vanished, I woke them up and they gave me a feedback: "they said they sent you the Extended Warranty Card!"……..
That's the end for almost 3 weeks communication, they never reply me again (I sent more then 10 e-mail keep asking) and they seems like a ninja disappeared. Not recommended. Terrible.

In terms of the lens price, it is good. In terms of services…. :-X

fantastic lens! the price has dropped abit since the new one came out Tokina AT-X 116 Pro DX AF 11-16mm f2.8 II(http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProd…). the only thing different is that it has an auto-forcusing motor built in for the nikon D5100, D3200, ect..

it might be worth getting the newer one thou, even if you have an d90 or a d7000 just because the lens makes a realy loud noise when focusing… like transformers style.. so it would be very annoying if you are in a quite place.. plus something making that much noise can't be good for the camera long term..

anyways, good lens but i expect the price to go down further so you could sit on it. also don't forget the 2% paypal fee.. kinda a bummer.. plus everybody hates them because of their service.. beware.

    • The new lens has several other changes including better optics.

Congrats on your first post but holy hell, man - use your big person words.

  • eglobal and DWI seem to be the only people that stock the DX Pro II version of this lens for Canon. Has anyone purchased the II off them yet? They are the only 2 companies that stock it and apparantly they are a sister company to each other…? I was under the impression that the Canon was going to be released a few months after the Nikon mount? Can anyone shed some light on this?
    Cheers

This is what I found under the About Us page "As an internet seller, we understand your concern for privacy and security, which is why we spare no expenses on this". Does this mean they didn't spend any money to ensure this?

Don't quote me on this but I think Tokina has version 2 of this lens. Not entirely sure of the difference.

The DX Pro II has got an internal focus motor and apparantly better coated glass or something. Not sure on any other differences but for the lower end Nikon users this means it will auto focus on your camera

  • Rather than dispute their customer service just find a better price. :)

  • DWI screwed me, your use of language is appalling and you can find it cheaper elsewhere from shops that actually have some sort of customer service. Not a deal

    From the DWI website:

    "NEW! Tokina AT-X 116 Pro DX 11-16mm f2.8 Lenses
    1 year warranty for Tokina"
    &
"Tokina AF 11-16mm f2.8 lens, The new Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX is an ultra-wide angle lens with a fast f/2.8 aperture for better photography in low-light situations."

How can they still claim this as "new" it has been out for quite a few years. Fair enough if it was relating to the new version of this lens but I dont think its right to tag the old version as "new"
